I do the old shake method for my Spiegelaus to get all the nooks and crannies clean. I find if I rinse and sponge them straight away they stay pretty clean. Cheers from the U.K.!
Dishwashers. A bit more information for the non chemical engineers around. There are 2 ways a dishwaser cleans. 1. Normal detergent action by creating an emulsion of fats and water same as saop etc. 2. The second and this is really important. Dishwasher tablets have a hard element to them that "scrapes" the tough food off the plates. This hard stuff can etch the glass by scratching it. These scratches cause a lot of nucleation points across the whole of the inside of the glass. Just google Nucleated Beer Glass to see what this does. www.foodbloggersofcanada.com/canadas-craft-beer-atlantic-edition-whats-a-nucleated-glass/ This causes the flatness of beer in a dishwashed beer glass. So what can you do? Use a liquid detergent - not completely free of the harder elements but better than tablets. Rinse the glasses under running waterafter wash and leave to drain. If you live in a hard water area you will need to wipe - use blue roll not tissues or cloth. Cheers Tom .
It’s not really practical info for commercial venues. More for drinking at home. Commercial glass washing machines do a good job. Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed the info. 🍻
I have been very lucky with mine. Started off with five 3.5 years ago and still got them all. I know that every time I use one, it could be the last time 😜😂
I reckon great northern is the beer equivalent of instant coffee, they just sprinkle some 'beer powder' (please god, let that not really be a thing) into a vat of Brisbane tap water.

But I don't see where you sanitized the outer rim. What if there is stuff like lipstick on it?

Cheers for the info Tom! Really insightful. 🍻
Love it. Seems like a lot of work for someone that drinks every day..which is not me of course ;)
Ha ha. Yeah sure mate. But I only generally do this after a session. Not between drinks. Just a quick rinse before the next one and I’m off again.
There were a lot of bubbles on the bottom at the end :/
If we did this at the local bar, we would have a long line waiting for a properly cleaned glass. But good to know.

@@beersillustrated2583 I really enjoyed the video! Thanks
Haha, I had six of those Spiegelau IPA-glasses. Now I have only two left. 😅

@@beersillustrated2583 Yes, they're very fragile. I guess I can wish for new ones for Christmas! 😇🙂🍻
Good informative vid, thanks mate. Great Northern, bwahahahaha!
Bloody shit beers 😂 Glad you liked it mate. 🍻
I actually cut out the bit where I said “spit in it if you want!” 🤪

And Id say you’re right.
The correct way to pour a Great Northern is to open the beer, then tip it down the sink.
