the Cheers beer mug...the only glass that defines nobility and commands respect.
I usually drink out of an Irish tulip pint glass (by Guinness) for all beers, jut because it's thick and sturdy, and it looks good. Unlike whisky or cognac, beer doesn't do much for me in terms of nose/aroma, it's all about the taste, so I don't see much point in using snifters.
Your videos are simply the best of their kind. Well done. Cheers!
+Minute Explained Thanks so much for the kind words!
Great stuff! I love learning material like this... Cheers, BBTN!
Glad you stopped by. Cheers!
Thrash Metal Home Brew & BBQ
Wow a metalhead spotted! And a beerholic as well! 🤘🏻🍻 cheers man!
If it don't leak then it's the right glass for me no matter how it looks
Haha. Too right!
You’d be surprised how much the glass can influence the taste of the beer.
In Brazil, we usually are served in "copo americano", which is basically a small, cheap and hard to break cup...
At the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where I live they have them bottom pour beers but only with domestic beers just like your Bud Lights so I'd say about equal to a top for beer
Brilliant video mate. I've definitely got too many glasses. The Spiegelau glass box set is a great way to go. It contains a glass for most beer styles. I have to say I probably use the Tulip glass most of the time. Cheers Dino
Yup, tulips are my go to as well. Starting to run out of room in my apartment!
I love my Belgian-style tulip glass
Can’t go wrong with the stein
I drink out of a glass mug that holds two cans of Guinness, and it’s just fine. Cost $4.
Good stuff and good way to point out the shaker pint which is the glass that I hate the most, unless it's a macro where it doesn't matter, lol. Also, the steins also grew in popularity due to disease where lids were used to limit any germs. This actually grew following plagues. Great presentation and cheers!
Oh, and never, ever ever, serve craft beer in a frosted glass as it limits the flavor and aroma. But, I know you knew that!
You know, I was thinking about the evils of frosted glasses the entire time I was researching this video but somehow forgot to put it in the script haha. Cheers!
Great video! I am currently working on a glassware video myself and will make sure to reference and refer to your video. You provided some great info! Cheers!
+Beer Snobs United (BeerSnobsUnited) Very cool! I'll keep an eye out for it but let me know when it's up!
I love the history you add! I've had a bottoms-up pour but to be truthful I was abandoning my craft-beer purism, so I didn't particularly focus on the flavor :)
I cant say That I follow the law of glass ware, I may accidentally use the correct one from time to time, I dont exactly have a lot of space for a variety of glasses so I have to sacrifice the worrying of having the correct glass ware, but I appreciate the ones that are able to use the correct ones, but very interesting video, you do great research to bring us this information, Thanks Ryan, Cheers Buddy............. Arnolds Quote is cool !!!!
Thanks so much! Good, point, I'm running out of space with even my small collection...
I feel the same way, I just use whatver god Danm glass I have cleaned 😂 don’t really care tbh
A good video, I have an old Schlitz glass, like a Pilsner glass but comes more to a point on the bottom. I see them in old beer ads.
Those are really cool and I saw a lot of those when I was researching some old beer ads. Cheers!
i almost always pour my Colorado Micro-brews into a classic american shaker pint glass. to me, it is the essence of drinking a beer.
I had a Bud Light bottoms up beer this past weekend. It didn't taste any different but if you ever knock the magnet loose, you're going to get wet...
Hmmm. Good to know, don't want a wet lap!
Shit, they've been talking about that bottoms up beer thing for years - i still have never seen one out in the wild.
I think that phrase refers to lifting whichever liquid container you're holding to the point in which its bottom is high up in the air, hence having the bottom of said container up in the air while the other end being right im your mouth while you drink
Denver area has several...meh...
I LOVE how your videos are short but efficiently informative! Keep up the good work man! Just subscribed your channel ytd, have a feeling I’m gonna binge watching your videos today HAHAHA!
Cheers! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Agreed, as a Single Malt Nerd, a Nose Glass intensifies the Experience and same has to be said for a Beer, Recently treating myself to the Spigulau Glasses they increase the aroma hence experience of the specific beer. Nerd out Over 🖒
+iWannaBrew Chris That's a whole different level of beer nerddom I have yet to achieve, hope to be there someday. Cheers!
Well, the worst experience I have with drinking beer is out of a bottle. I think a straight glass is best, and about 330ml. I find draught glasses, around 440ml, have a similar problem to drinking out of a bottle; it's too easy to be 'rough' with the beer whilst drinking, leading to the last quarter going flat and tasting like shit.
This is GREAT! I get asked about this all the time when teaching beer courses ♡
+Tasting Nitch Thanks so much!
another great video. Thanks for researching these wonderful things cheers
+Drunkinone Thanks again!
Not too many years ago nobody in the USA knew much beyond a pint glass, if they even ever used a glass for beer. Oh how things have changed. LOL!! Nice video my Brother!!!
CHEERS!!
DJ
I know, now I need more space for my collection haha. Cheers!
Bottom pour glass! Can say I've heard of that. But kinda cool
I don’t know why I’m watching this video; I don’t even drink. So thank me for watching 😆
Great video. I do have quite a collection of glasses🍻👍
Well 'Looney Larry' was dead right, your videos are awesome! I even learnt something! Cheers Mike 🍻
In Vienna/Austria the bigger glass you mentioned is known as the "Krügerl" 0,5l and the smaller ones are the Seidl 0,33l. But even in western Austria, nobody knows what a Krügerl is. :D I tried a Beer from a clay cup, on a medevil festival and it tasted very good. It keeps the beer cooler too.
Very cool video. I always wondered why the glass makes a difference. I tend to drink out of whatever I want to Lol
Me too most of the time, but sometimes I want to baby my beers haha. Cheers!
I see you've been reading "Tasting Beer" by Randy Mosher
I use Borosilicate graduated beakers..... 250ml
I'm a big fan of the Sauvin glass. Expensive as all hell, but you can fill it with any variety of beer and enjoy it. Greg at Gregs Beer Reviews turned me onto it, as it's the only glass he uses for his reviews. Cheers!!
I'll have to look into getting one myself. Cheers!
Can't go wrong. it's an awesome glass.
Thank you.....
Killer video....CHeeeeeeeRS
Ireland is certainly not part of the "UK" nor is Guinness
Not the info I was looking for at all
loving your videos! You do detailed research and present the content very well. Just a little, tiny mistake, that’s not really your fault but a common translation error or misunderstanding: The glass you called a „Bavarian Seidl“ is actually called „Mass“ (the a pronounced like in the word „last“) and it contains 1 liter of beer. The „Seidl“ looks much like it but only holds 0.33 liters.
Thank you for letting me know! Hard for an ignorant American brought up in the beer glass backwater that is the US haha. Cheers!
During the last few hours I’ve listened to quite a lot of your videos (at work, so no watching) and the very last thing I’d call you is „ignorant“ :D
But seriously, if you ever need a translation or a fact check on something concerning German or Austrian Beer, just let me know, I’d love to help.
Steins are impractical though because of the lids.
Good info
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed. Cheers!
Nice one .........CHEERS
Thank you sir. Cheers!
**o** is name of a beer glass?
Yeah, specialized beer glasses are great, until they get broke, since they are expensive
They arent that expensive, you can find a set of 4 for 20 bucks on Amazon.
Magnet in my cup....no thanks!!!
I hate shaker pints.
enjoyed the video consider me subscribed cheers
Thanks so much glad you enjoyed!
