I've seen countless bands live. Been going to shows since I was 14. BTBAM has by far the best sound live I've heard. You can hear everything super clear, about as close to the record as you can get. I've seen them like 7 times, at different venues, and every time they sound amazing. Well, Devin Townsend live is pretty amazing too.
I dont know why but everytime i hear an artist talk about their pickups, i think i hear the same things and sound specs for the bridge and neck - super articulate, heavy, not harsh, really balanced for the full spectrum we need to cover with our sounds...........................
Premier Guitar is one of the best things to ever happen, ever. I seriously appreciate I live in a time where I can see these things from the people I look up to.
So many people talking shit about Paul, but the guy is really trying to connect with these artists. Musicians are odd and standoffish people and he's enthusiastic about everything they say in a totally sincere way. I've been on tour with musicians that wont even talk to me as a tour mate about their gear because they were so pretentious. Keep it up man!
Jack Stolz I agree with you. I still find myself having to remind myself when I think he's interrupting. I know it's coming from a place of passion, not judgement or jealousy. I'll admit, when I first started watching these I studied Perry's behavior more than the artists ahaha
When I saw the final date of this tour was Nashville I had a feeling that a rig rundown would be made for one of the bands. Although I love BTBAM, you guys do already have an older one for them and I was really hoping one would have been done for The Contortionist. If you guys every have the opportunity to get a rig rundown for Contortionist please do!! They are a fantastic band and absolutely killed it when I saw the London date of this tour.
Bro, I know I’m 9 years late, but it’s all I could think about after he said it. Like has truly never heard the word ethereal pronounced before? Is that his first time saying it out loud? What is happening?!?
Y'all should do a rundown on Gojira, Carcass, and Down also. Those bands are awesome and have pretty distinct guitar tone/sound. On the non metal side, I think it would be cool to see a rundown of Whiskey Myers, great band. I love what y'all do here on premier guitar, keep up the good work!
Yeah actually better than my comment. I said David cross if he didn't go bald. Also said he looks like he could be a member of incubus. But Flanders takes the cake.
I feel like Premier Guitar should be able to get better sound quality for those live intros on the Rig Rundowns. It sounds like it's just the sound from the camera, a couple of portable Zoom's would probably be much better!
i dont get all the hate on perry. i think he is a great interviewer. knows his stuff and is genuienly excited by the music and the gear. he has personality and seems like a nice dude to chat with
I had a four string Spector I loved they sound so good. didn't really survive after a couple tours. sold it before it fell apart. wish I woulda rebuilt it
It seems like Perry's always in a rush to do these. He interrupts them half the time & repeats the last word the guests say like if he already knew what they were thinking.
+chiefmachine24 Sometimes we are stressed for time onstage and with the artists themselves, so we are often rushing to appease band management, venue people, and to make sure we get things in line before doors open or meet-and-greets happen. Please understand we try to do our best in every situation and some are just more chill and relaxed and others is like an episode of MacGyver.
+Premier Guitar but Perry it's the only one that ever feels rushed and nervous, and it's like EVERY video he does. it's almost like he's more concerned with how much camera time he has vs letting the artist do their thing. Really makes it obvious how spot on Rebecca Dirks and Chris Kies are.
Came for one thing..to get a definitive answer to their tuning...mission accomplished 🤘 time to hit the tabs..once I downtune and readjust my Floyd Rose
I just wanted to comment about the interviewer.. Great questions you were asking! They were all and more that I was wanting to know.. and great fluidity in the interview as well
Port City make some awesome sounding guitar cabs. I cannot tell a difference between my Kemper Profile amp and my room amps, if there is any I can hardly hear it so I doubt anybody could hear any difference in a concert venue. My Kemper has a built in power amp if that makes any difference.
For bass. Have or have owned everything but the darkglass. The microaynth is just not a great pedal tho for a synth. Dude needs a chunk OS or a future impact.
Guys....I say yet again, top end digital sim of PREAMP & EFFECTS!!! Combined with stereo tube power with 2 real GUITAR CABS. 4CM in STEREO without the mess and huge signal run.
Paul looks like he could be a member of incubus between the shorts and the moustache. He doesn't seem very metal. He also looks like if David cross didn't go bald
FASSTW is the best prog metal band to ever come out of Nc. The dude with Black ibanez is correct mojotone makes some kick ass pickups. I have the 44magnum in my rg652 almost active output but not muddy even when down tuned. Between the Buttcheeks and Me...
Everyone and their brother has a signature guitar. I must be getting old because I haven't even heard of this guy (or half of the other rundowns). The only signature guitar i would ever play would be Les Paul's.
crush537 Then go play your Les Paul. This guy is one of the greatest modern guitarists, and the brand decided to make him a sig? What is the problem with that. I am also a fan of old school guitarists, but that doesn't inhibit me from recognizing this guy and his band for the fact that they are one of the best prog bands around.
Because it's a far more ergonomic option than travelling with big tube amps (as well as a backup amp in case that one goes down)? And how about the fact that it's incredibly versatile and is far easier to streamlined for a live performance with automated midi patch changes exactly inline with backing tracks? Or how about the fact that it can replicate studio tones incredibly? Man what a terrible tool to use.
The fact that BTBAM are closing the set, with an 8min cover, is THE reason I decided to skip this tour. The first tour I've missed in 10 years. Well, that and the new album just isn't that good. One of my all time fave bands, but... times change.
Nothing is wrong with covers. But they have a back catalog of music they won't play and to end the set with an 8min cover, after pretty much never playing covers live, is... well, for the lack of a better word, stupid. It's always bugged me when a band has one album, they do that whole album (which is good), then 10 years later, they have this big catalog of music, then start doing covers live. I get the whole, THEY'RE bored and want something new and have fun, but... eh, to each their own I guess. They've done covers from their "Anatomy of..." album live, and that's okay once in a while. But this... I just have issue with it. To those who enjoy... carry on with your bad selves.
+Zed Chuva CE *does* has a rather divergent sound. Personally I love it, but I'm also really into the old British prog rock sound (though I do love all of their albums up to and including TGM), and have been drifting away from metal. I have friends who feel the opposite; they love the more metallic sounds of Parallax, but aren't so much into their newer prog rock sound.
I know right....why does everyone have them these days? Couldn't possibly be because they are awesome. What could Vai, Petrucci, Friedman, Lifeson, Guthrie, Metallica, and a whole slew of other pros know about gear and tone. They must be getting rich from Fractal....thats gotta be it.
The PRS Archon has absolutely awful clean tones, it really doesn't like to be played clean - the dirty channel isn't that good either. I wondered why such a top quality amp would sound so bad. Now I know why... Why would PRS take advice from someone (not just from Dustie Waring but from anyone) that doesn't particularly like "mid/high end sparkle very much" and prefers much darker tones, to suggest what an amp [clean channel] should sound like is beyond me. Unless it's a signature amp in which case fair enough, but it isn't...Just my opinion.
michael88863 "rockstars" quit with the negativity. BTBAM is a musical form of art. Sometimes it gets lost in the airwaves for those who don't have the ears to hear. They are artists.
dustie's PRS tho ;______;
+RichaadEB Didnt think i would find you here!
Underrated and understated 💎 of the prs catalog
I really want one
I've seen countless bands live. Been going to shows since I was 14. BTBAM has by far the best sound live I've heard. You can hear everything super clear, about as close to the record as you can get. I've seen them like 7 times, at different venues, and every time they sound amazing.
Well, Devin Townsend live is pretty amazing too.
I love Dan Brigg's so much. He's so chill, open, wanting to talk about everything he loves.
Anybody else watching the dog in the background around 29:52 as Paul's explaining the Astral 1 tone?
great sight dude
"It's a streamlined guitar, because you know, I'm a simple guy" - Paul Complexity Waggoner LOLLLL
Thanks for doing an updated BTBAM video, the other one is one of my favorites i've watched it so many times haha
Most interesting bass rig I've seen in a long time.
Great rundown. Smart, friendly guys who understand and appreciate their own gear. Refreshing!
We go from the fastest talking interviewer to the slowest talking guitarist
So many people talking shit about Paul, but the guy is really trying to connect with these artists. Musicians are odd and standoffish people and he's enthusiastic about everything they say in a totally sincere way. I've been on tour with musicians that wont even talk to me as a tour mate about their gear because they were so pretentious. Keep it up man!

What a bunch of nerds. I say that in the best way. So much talent. Anyone else think Dan reminds them of McLovin'?
Intro song is "Lay your Ghosts to Rest" 8:52 in
went to this show and met all of them VIP. It was the best concert i have ever been to!!!!
I don't get all the hate on this guy. He seemed really enthusiastic and knowledgable. I miss Rebecca, but at least premier has dudes that give a shit.
When I saw the final date of this tour was Nashville I had a feeling that a rig rundown would be made for one of the bands. this guy is,,by far,,, the best interviewer that Premier Guitar has...
>he should do all rig rundowns.............
+lliguf No. He should not.
Lol troll city
Yeah I love how he keeps trying to put words in other peoples’ mouths
"Etha Real"
+Wes Hauch Really!!!..... I lost all respect at that point. Let me just listen to the band speak bro.
Bro, I know I’m 9 years late, but it’s all I could think about after he said it. Like has truly never heard the word ethereal pronounced before? Is that his first time saying it out loud? What is happening?!?
I like that Dan actually let you hear a couple of the pedals, neato!
Paul seems like the nicest guy in the world
19:09 I hear it in my sleep
Paul looks like Flanders with long hair
Yeah actually better than my comment. I said David cross if he didn't go bald. Also said he looks like he could be a member of incubus. But Flanders takes the cake.
I feel like Premier Guitar should be able to get better sound quality for those live intros on the Rig Rundowns. It sounds like it's just the sound from the camera, a couple of portable Zoom's would probably be much better!
+Adam Kingsley dude it's free and already pretty top notch, cmon lol
i dont get all the hate on perry. i think he is a great interviewer. knows his stuff and is genuienly excited by the music and the gear. he has personality and seems like a nice dude to chat with
When he isn't all fidgety and cutting everyone off like he just did some bomb yayo
I had a four string Spector I loved they sound so good. didn't really survive after a couple tours. sold it before it fell apart. wish I woulda rebuilt it
It seems like Perry's always in a rush to do these.
He interrupts them half the time & repeats the last word

+chiefmachine24 cocaine is a hell of a drug
+chiefmachine24 Sometimes we are stressed for time onstage and with the artists themselves, so we are often rushing to appease band management, venue people, and to make sure we get things in line before doors open or meet-and-greets happen. Please understand we try to do our best in every situation and some are just more chill and relaxed and others is like an episode of MacGyver.
+chiefmachine24 to be honest, that first guy talked so slow. I'd try to finish his sentences as well. We don't got hours man hahaha :p
+chiefmachine24 He needs to stop cutting them off and just let them explain!
This is my favorite band! This video just made my day. They are some cool dudes!
Came for one thing..to get a definitive answer to their tuning...mission accomplished 🤘 time to hit the tabs..once I downtune and readjust my Floyd Rose
16:38 that laugh though
I've observed now that all of the really tight bands all use Mesa Boogie, Dream Theater, BTBAM, Lamb Of God, Mark Tremonti. (many more obviously)
I just wanted to comment about the interviewer.. Great questions you were asking! They were all and more that I was wanting to know.. and great fluidity in the interview as well
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PRS OMG
Port City make some awesome sounding guitar cabs. I cannot tell a difference between my Kemper Profile amp and my room amps, if there is any I can hardly hear it so I doubt anybody could hear any difference in a concert venue. My Kemper has a built in power amp if that makes any difference.
Really fun to watch!
I love seeing Perry just stroking the Sunn... Lol
What is the song they're playing in the intro? I know it and can't remember the name...
Great video.
Lol at 16:15 "Click it on lemme hear it lemme hear it!!" too funny!
Gasp... Another Axe Fx... Don't see many of them in
rig rundowns ;-)
This is a new sig from PRS?
Amazing
How would you run the Axe FX "direct" like he calls it?
Can you not use a power amp with it?
It makes everything,,, sick
What strap is Dan using?!
I'm searched for months. :(
He mentioned on his instagram that he had his friend in his hometown build it for him
Does anybody know what guitar strap he is using?
Finally!
+runescaper1333 They already did one with Rebecca Dirks....
Mark 5 25 is a sick amp I have one myself
That Rocktron All Access is the tits ! So many legendary bands relied on it : Slayer, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Muse, Smashing Pumpkins...and now BTBM !
I've always wondered. What IS between the buried and me?
Also, very surprised that Briggs would choose to have HZ pickups in his bass :S
+BeardedDanishViking the actual name Between the Buried and Me came from a Counting Crows song.
Zach Buddie Do you enjoy skeet shooting? Cuz you blasted that joke right out of the sky :(
+BeardedDanishViking If it makes you feel any better, that joke was actually fucking awful.
A side name for the band is dirt
Seems like really nice guys... Like it =)
"I never do these," but, Cave In! :)
What's the band called at 16:56?
Positive its Cave In
song at the start?
What's the songs in the intro? Thanks
+Maciej K. Lay Your Ghosts to Rest
Dan kinda looks like Stevie T with a different haircut
dumbfuck 5000 forreal!
Something about Waggoner saying he's a simple dude.
For bass. Have or have owned everything but the darkglass. The microaynth is just not a great pedal tho for a synth. Dude needs a chunk OS or a future impact.
Wasn't Dustie using Dimarzio's?
Yup but everyone's getting stolen by Seymour
+Jayden Wybenga for reeeeeaaaalll
+Jayden Wybenga HAIII
haiii
He pronounces ethereal wrong, and it pisses me off.
HeadOfBucket Well.....gtfo it.
I wonder what kind of watch he has on...
$50 says Seymour Duncan gave him whatever humbuckers were on hand and just made some stuff up.
the people that make pickups for a living, couldn't be assed to make a pickup for an famous guitarist?wut
Blake @ 21:50
NOW DO A BLAKE SETUP
If he's got the Archon with him why not use the archon?
Archon as TUBE power section
WHY HAVE PRS STOPPED MAKING THIS GUITAR??????? IT'S ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING GUITARS I HAVE EVER SEEN!! ANYONE KNOW IF THEY PLAN TO MAKE MORE??
desyguns1 Nope ....no way not after what happened.....im sure you read about it.
Guys....I say yet again, top end digital sim of PREAMP & EFFECTS!!! Combined with stereo tube power with 2 real GUITAR CABS. 4CM in STEREO without the mess and huge signal run.
eh. periphery drop tunes to a on their 6 strings and get don't sound "flubbery"
I play drop b and it doesn't sound flubbery.
Am I the only nerd who wants to know scale lengths? Great vid though
+rich fuller PRS is straight up 25 inches (who still uses inches?).
I'm pretty sure, but check the PRS website to be sure.
Scale length is a huge factor on how a guitar feels in your hands, so no....but you are a nerd just for watching this. Me too.
Never have I been more interested in the bass player's gear than the guitar gear. Man Fractals are boring.
Velvet guitar color
The Archon head sounds better with EL34s or 6CA7s.
dude interviewing the band must have had a line of coke between each guy
did someone say clown?
2:55-3:28 *laughs in periphery*
Paul looks like he could be a member of incubus between the shorts and the moustache. He doesn't seem very metal. He also looks like if David cross didn't go bald
Dustie=East Coast Dustin Kensue

Haha so true

@@fpjesus2000 preach. Paul Waggoner is one of the greatest guitar players today
Why is everyone using Axe FX these days? everyone ugh!

"ethereal" pronunciation! super ⅃oL
c# standard is metal Af.

Dusty... aka, mr. Personality... 😐
Can they choose artists with real pedals?
Timeline and Wampler Tape aren't real enough?
Wow, a neck pickup thats lower output... who knew
a tone knob would help.
Cocaine is involved in this interview yup
i think perry is on coke haha

michael88863 also, please build that time machine and then send yourself to the future so you'll understand what I'm saying.
You say they're art. I'm sorry but I disagree with you.
The Fumbo Muffin no one's making you listen to it but you're still gonna be mad about it ;-)
What are you talking about? I'm not mad.
Perry sucks are rig run downs...please stop using him!!!!!
song in the beginning?
