Great info on how to handle winter weather with minimum gear or the bare essentials. Not that we may intentionally do that but often we forget things and this is helpful information in those situations. Thank you.

Woof. Gotta hand it to you. I've watched a lot of winter camping videos to see if it's something I'd like to try, but I've found nothing yet to convince me it's worth it - for me. If I want to enjoy a hike in the winter, I drive to a trailhead I like, do the hike, and come back home in the evening. As simple as this appears to be, it's still too much for this old coot. I'd need a nice, small, off-grid 10x14 cabin to make this work for me. That being said, thanks for the video!

I just came back from my trip to a northern Ontario Provincial Campground. Similar experiences realizing how long everything takes. Just heating the kettle in -15°C weather takes forever. Having the dog also creates so much more planning as she was always covered in snow and wanted to sit on my lap. This trip I gave up on meal prep and bought freeze dried dinners. Game changer for sure.
We sure do take our civilized lives for granted and this gives us a better perspective on what blessings we have every day.

I saw Death Valley for the 1st time a couple weeks back and then hit up some of my favorite haunts on 395. I didn't get to spend quite enough time in Death Valley so there's going to be another trip very soon! I'm debating CA coast-OR-WA vs. UT-CO for the "one big trip" this year. It’s worked great for us. Allows us to maintain a very inexpensive system on the camper and spend the bigger money on items that I can use more flexibly. No need to remove snow from the camper, as far as I remember, snow insulates and will actually help keep the camper warmer.
