The money on the side of the bus NEVER benefited the NHS. Every time a Tory minister anounces lies about extra money for the NHS, this is never the case. What actually happens is the cash goes in the front door of the NHS from the public purse, then the NHS is required by government to use this money to buy in services from the private sector, thus only a small proportion goes to actual healthcare, a larger proportion goes to CEO salaries and substantial share dividend and even more goes to managing the new costs and making up the shortfall from other NHS budgets, thus drastically reducing services provided by the NHS. One clear example from the ONS figures show agency nurses cost £450 billion annually. These are mandated costs directly from this Tory government, who gain funding directly from these same healthcare agencies. If this same money was re-directed to the NHS directly, cutting out the massive costs of these agencies, nurses pay could be increased by more than 20% immediately and could be increased further over two or three years bringing nursing salaries back to levels of 12 years ago with raises above inflation. In addition to this, generous nurses training bursaries could be reinstated, to help recruitment of the 50,000 extra nurses needed, this money could also cover overtime pay for existing NHS nurses, to cover the shift hours the private sector agencies had been covering, could be paid at a much higher level. Agency nurses typically cost the NHS five times more than an employed nurse. And with removal of visa restrictions and reinstatement of free movement for nurses and thier families, the European nurses who provided so much excellent service before could be attracted back to cover the shortfall while recruitment and training of new nurses takes place. And there would still be money left over to provide the housing, schooling and other services that these European nurses may need. But unfortunately the smash and grab Conservative government would not benefit from this, only the people of the UK would. So that's off then.

Brexit means Brexit. They voted for Brexit out of greed, xenophobia and ignorance. They now need to deal with the consequences.
