I have this condition, I’m in my late 50’s so when mine was discovered it was rare and very little known about it. I was told I couldn’t have children . My doctor wanted me to have a hysterectomy at 23 ! I didn’t do it, was pregnant a year later. Had baby # 2 two years after that. I had c-section’s because there isn’t a straight way out. First baby was born from right uterus second baby in the left. It’s crazy but I still have both uterus’s
Got diagnosed with this 2 days ago and i really appreciate your videos, great to know that there’s a community out there and that we’re going through this together🙏🏼
I just got diagnosed yesterday and I felt so relieved to find out what I have but it’s definitely concerning due to miscarriages. I hope to get my surgery soon!
Me too. I had told my gyno that when I used tampons, they would shoot to the side and hurt. They also didn’t stop blood. He told me that it could be a vaginal septum, but would have seen it. Anyway, a year later, my husband said he could feel something- dr then found the septum. Lol. I had it removed to help with painful intercourse. My dr said that it could go throughout my entire body. Have you heard that before? I had a complete dydelphus also. I had two successful pregnancies, 3 yrs apart. I carried the first in my right and 2nd in my left. Both breech w/ csections. It is actually more successful to carry and have a live birth with UD, because blood flow is better then other uterine anomalies. I had two periods a month, so I had a higher chance of getting pregnant, but the chance of twins is not really any higher. Dr said that it was possible that I ovulated 2x a month, but it was never actually proven. There have not been a large number of twins born to women with UD, but has been possible. I had to have a hysterectomy after my second baby, but due to endometriosis and severe pain during that pregnancy. The pain was possibly due to having hip problems. My 1st was 6lbs10oz born at 36 weeks- planned csection. 2nd was 8lbs at 36wks, I went into labor but had to have csection. Both were breech and didn’t move quite as much as a normal pregnancy- especially my 8lb son. He was in my smaller uterus- which they thought was rudimentary-initially. I also had a slightly lopsided tummy. I felt both at 20 weeks, but (funny story) lost one in my belly. EXPLANATION: At 8 weeks, I had my 1st ultrasound. There was no heartbeat and they couldn’t locate the fetus. After the tech freaked out and got another tech, she remembered I had UD. She did the ultrasound further to my side and found the fetus. We were moved around the rooms and heard whispering before finally being told that everything was fine. I told my husband that they thought we lost our boy. I felt normal, but knew I wasn’t- which we always dealt with it like a super power-without actual powers. My mom felt horrible, because she used to fuss at me about tampons. “There’s only one way in and you can’t mess it up”. Finding out that I had UD was harder on her. I’m proud of you for speaking out and helping women. Maybe my long and choppy story can help too. Good luck UD-sister. Good luck in future pregnancies. We are blessed- Doubley Blessed.
The only way they found I had UD before I was pregnant we because I had to go to planned parenthood to have them help me take out my nuvaring because I couldn’t grab it but I know I put it in!! It was crazy to hear I had two uteruses and everything. I got a scan but no one could really tell me anything except for kids you will cross that bridge if we come to it....
Thanks for your comment, this really helped me as I also have two uterus, I had two caesarean sections, and like you, I had one baby in left womb and one in the right, only one was breech though. For the past few months, I have such pain when using a tampon, I am sure it's something to do with this condition!! It's also like the blood flow just goes straight past the tampon, quite frustrating at times. My periods have become very painful and heavy the older I am
Thank you for this information I got told I had Double Uterus when I was 17 and now im 20 and I thought I was the only one that had this but I see there's many women that have it
Thank you for your Video. Nobody is talking about it but i think there are a lot of women with uterus didelphys or other abnormalitys . I also have uterus didelphys bicollis and removed the Septum when i was 18. Now iam 30 years. I have 2 children and iam pregnant again. Had 2 c-sections because my children didn't turn around. Happy that iam not alone❤
Did they remove the uterus septum or just down there… Because they want to remove my septum in the uterus in 7 month and I‘m a little scared that it could cause any damage. My septum down there is removed already.
I have this and recently had my septum removal surgery but unfortunately I have had a hard recovery. I’ve been in pelvic physical therapy for months now and still experience a lot of pain “down there”. If you have any advice on recovery, I’d love to hear! Thank you for sharing your story :)
I have this, never had trouble menstrual wise and don't have a problem getting pregnant at all BUT I have a problem Dilating my first baby, was in labor about 37 hours with Pitocin and only got to a 3 and had to get a cesarean and I had to get a repeat cesarean with my 2nd birth 14 months after
Thank you for your video. I was pregnant in both uterus. First try and pregnant in both. I had a missed abortion in both uterus and it's very painful. Now I am afraid to get pregnant in both uterus again and going through the same again. It's definitely possible to get twins, but it's also very tough for the body. Is there anyone who experience the same? I am from Germany, so I hope my English is okay.
Hi Natalie, thanks for your sharing! I have the same condition and also in Toronto! Could you please recommend me any gynecologist specialized in this area?
I'm going through a horrible menstrual like never before which caused me to go to a gyno. I for sure thought I'd be diagnosed with endometriosis because the symptoms were there. He says he thinks I have didelphys, but he wants a transvaginal ultrasound done to make sure.
I'm 15 and i just found out I have the same thing . people i talk about this tell me that it is impossible to get pregnant and if I get pregnant in the future I will have a miscarriage and I love kids so I wanted to see people story that have the same thing as me thanks a lot for this video 😊
My condition is a little different because I have two uteruses and one fix but it’s hard to find things about trying to get pregnant and things like that
You had one removed or is it “fixed” to not get pregnant. sorry for the question. I would think that if you have a vaginal septum and sperm goes into the fixed uterus,- you wouldn’t get pregnant? Correct? One of my dr suggested that I have my smaller crevice stitched closed, but I think this is primarily done to keep preterm deliveries from occurring though. They never discussed it further. It’s Cervical cerclage. Get several opinions about what to do- couldn’t hurt. They learn new things all the time. Good luck
I've been told by my dr that because women with UD have a smaller uterus (uteri) than normal, and thus the risk for preterm, complications etc.. It all stems from the fact that the fetus doesn't have a lot of room for growth like other wombs. Therefore if you get pregnant with twins in the same uteri, sadly the rate for miscarriage and and complications increase, again because of the limited space. Thats why some fertility doctors advise women with UD and a high egg count to do IVF, that way they can control the conception and the possibility of getting pregnant with twins and creating a super high risk pregnancy. At least thats what my Dr told me when she dx me with UD in May of this year
I think that some doctors are just extra careful and may suggest this path- which does make sense. My second dr was high risk and never acted like it was any big deal. I sometimes wanted him to approach it differently. He was very different then my first ob. The 2d ob wouldn’t even schedule my csection before 38 weeks. I went into labor & water broke at 36wk- of course. It’s amazing the different opinions I hear about UD. I used to hear that it’s one in a million, now I hear it’s more like 1/8000. Big difference. Recently I read an article that said 1/3000- which sounds very low.
Not stupid! I bled twice during my pregnancy (once confirmed it was from my *not pregnant uterus, and one time unconfirmed). I think it was a form of a period since it was empty for so long
Your body will know you’re pregnant and you should not have another period, but as the other person stated- it’s possible. In a normal uterus, you can still bleed while pregnant. Same goes for UD. I bled for some time, but wasn’t a period. It’s always possible. Our bodies are crazy machines.
I got pregnant after 3 months. My husband’s 3 yr plan, turned to a 3 Month plan. It was great, but if you’re not sure then make sure to protect yourself. Did you get periods 2x every month?
