Beautiful! How does it dry (air or can I bake it in the oven)? Also, to be able to use daily (to eat out of) does it have to be glazed or is this technique purpose strictly for decor?
This clay is for firing. I only showed the modeling process, it would then require a bisque firing and glazing and it would be good for daily use. I'm planning more videos with the whole process soon! 😊
Thank you . I actually don’t know exactly. You could start weddings the amount of clay you think will be good for you. The leftover clay you still can use for another project. 😉
For the slapping and trimming the clay needs to be more firm, and not sticking to the touch (leather). If it is too soft it will be more difficult to shape it. So you might need to let it dry a little bit before that. It also depends on your environment humidity. Hope that helps!

Hi Ranjani, I used a ceramic kiln to fire it. You could use an Air dry clay. Air dry doesn't need to be fired to set hard. But it isn't recommended to use it for any food or drink. You probably could use the same technique from this video.
In this video, I’m using local clay from a local studio. Yes, you can use the bowl for eat after fire. I do two firings: one bisque fire and the other glaze fire.
Two firing stages: bisque firing and glaze firing. Bisque firing is the first stage, where the clay is fired at a lower temperature to harden it, making it easier to handle for glazing. The second stage is glaze firing, where the glaze applied to the bisque-fired piece is melted and fused to the surface at a higher temperature.
Here's a revised version: Hi Sharon, I'm using a chamois cloth. The hand-built mugs and bowls I normally use are less than 0.5cm thick, depending on the piece.☺️ I hope I didn’t respond too late.😊
I use the chamois and my finger to smooth the surface. I normally avoid the sponge. Also, Depend of the clay you are using to make it, some have more chamotte (grogs) or the grammage of it is big. So, It will appear more . Did I answer you?😀
Hi, Usually, I wedged the clay well. If it is too hard and dry, I moisten it. If it's very dry, I put the clay in a bag, add water, and wait for the clay to absorb it. Depending on the amount, this can take a few days, and I turn the package since the water settles at the bottom. Alternatively, if you have a bucket, you can do the same process, tightly seal the bag, and immerse it in a bucket full of water (this way, you don't need to keep turning the bag with the clay). If the clay is only a bit dry, you can cover it with a wet old towel, then place it in a bag and leave it for a while until the clay absorbs the water from the towel.
I took like 2 pottery class back in High School, I finish switching o Caligraphy class because I was upset that I wasn' able to use my hand to build thing. Maybe i should give another try it have been 13 years since High School

Sorry Nikita, I never used non baking clay, but I'm pretty sure you can find as air-dry clay.😊 The process seems to be very similar to the process of using baked clay
That might be because of many different reasons. You could try a few different things: 1- wedging more for a more uniform clay 2- start out with a softer clay (slightly more water in it) if your environment is too dry 3- apply less pressure when smoothing out the surface (using your fingertips only) Hope this helps!
