I’ve seen this crossing a lot and I’ve always wanted to make a video about it but never got the chance. You did an excellent job documenting it and I wonder who owned it and those wires makes me think it was electrified. Cool stuff!
The interstate was built approximately the early 1980's as they were extending I-95 from Eddystone, PA to Tinicum (Delaware County) and eventually past the airport, over the Girard Point Bridge and past the sports complex area (Veterans Stadium, Spectrum) and connecting around Penn's Landing.
Great video! Seems like it was electrified since there were catenary masts next to the crossing before the highway was rebuilt!
Thanks! Yea.

Like how you find this stuff !
That highway, I believe, is I-95 just a little north of Center City.
It is
I took a photo of that years ago. Hasn’t changed all that much.
Yea.
I think the branch here was called the Kensington & Tacony Branch.
Was it owned by SEPTA or what?
Owned by conrail but this line was part of the “connecting railway” which was a subsidiary to PRR
That’s cool!!
That is correct.
I wonder when the last train went over these tracks.
OMG this is just a few miles from my home
They are catenaries there was the old Metro line
Yea, I see that now.
really odd the tracks are literally blocked by a interstate
Interstate was definitely put in later.
Yes that’s weird
