    Hands down, this and Jury are some of the heaviest effing blues rock songs ever created. And it was only three guys on the records. Bloody brilliant. Those first two records go toe to toe with Zep any day of the week.

    Holland was a clock. I loved his style. He had a swing/jazz approach to his heavy drumming that his replacement in Priest, Scott Travis, seriously lacks. Bill Ward and Peter Criss had the same swing, too. That is what made their respective
    bands have that sound. Listen to Ward's busy playing in Paranoid.

    Wow! At times you can hear Mel Galley struggle a bit but regardless of his injury there is still no one in the world that can play this song nearly as good as him. I would say he is easily the most underrated guitarist out there. RIP! Thank you so much for posting this.

      I totally agree, Bo! Dave was incredible. Listen to his drum playing - especially the fills - on Point of Entry, British Steel and Screaming for Vengeance. A long time friend of Dave's I had the pleasure of witnessing his accuracy on the drums (and in life). I miss him. Dave loved everything he did with Trapeze. Glenn, Mel and Dave will always be GREAT!

      @@easyduzit9200 yes, of course. There were a lot of funny things that happened. I remember that in Finland Rob always sang You've got another Fin(!) coming... When Rob announced the song they just couldn't hold back their laughter... The guys were just having fun. I also remember playing hide and seek in Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Germany) with KK, Dave and Rob. Just like a bunch of young kids...
      Happy Birthday Dave. You would have turned 76 today. Miss you. You were a great friend!

    I'm a long time rocker getting toward my late fifties. I've seen a lot of great bands forgotten in their time (i.e. Big Star) and none more so than Trapeze. This was the best power trio I've ever witnessed and that includes Grand Funk and Rush which sets high bars indeed in both rock and prog. These guys could pull it all off from blues and funk to heavy metal. It didn't hurt they had the greatest rock and roll vocalist and screamer to ever manhandle a microphone.

    There was never a better rock band than Trapeze. All three were incredible, and incredible together. I saw them a couple of times in the 70s...didn't see this concert, but this is THE song that turned me on to rock and roll. I love the boys, Mel, Glenn and Dave. Long live Trapeze.

    Great band. I saw them in San Antonio at the Sunken Gardens Theater near the zoo. The monkeys in the zoo were throwing shit when Glenn Hughes hit his high notes. No shit! And the birds went crazy. A couple of elephants started to fuck while an alligator ate a 2 year old baby boy. It was chaos. Total rock out.

      @szymusiek1980 6 років тому +2

      +John Miller - well said, Holland made good money with Priest, so then he was able to buy a large expensive drum kit:) However I always though that it's the band who decides what drums are used by the drummer and gives it to him. And I'm glad Dave found a job in another group after being fired from Judas.

    • @ais6863
      @ais6863 6 років тому +5

      @@szymusiek1980 Dave Holland was endorsed by Tama drums, pretty sure that was his drum kit... he wasn't fired by Judas Priest, he quit the band in 1989... he was probably burnt out of being a hired gun for 10 years and I believe he had some ill family member too to take care of.

      Trapeze in 1970's were fantastic live. I have heard bootleg recordings of Trapeze shows in 1970's that frankly, this 1994 bootleg is a terrible comparison. Rowdy small drunk club recording brings some reality into touring life and they aren't terrible by most standards. But the same guys in 1970's touring live sounded like one of the best live bands on 1970's. I knew some people in Houston late 70's early 80's still clamoring about Trapeze live shows being second to nobody. Anywhere. I believe it.

    Maybe Glenn wasn’t at the best here like he was capable of vocally which got better in his drug free years, but any way you shake it, he is among one of the best blues/rock singers of the generation. He was terribly underrated in that aspect, but I think that was due to that singing in his heavily drug influenced years. But even during those years he still had unbelievable range and control of his voice. During Deep Purple years if his voice hadn’t declined so severely cause of his cocaine addiction, I think he would have been a better singer than Coverdale and could have even sustained Purple as a 4 piece band.

    I finally figured out why Trapeze isn't a household familiar band name: They never invested or planned to have a professional record their concerts! Which is ridiculous! It's an amazing live band! Why cheap out on the concert recording? It makes no sense. There are more famous bands less capable who 'seem' good live, simply because they invested in planning for best acoustic recordings. You know: Record everything on the road, roadies setting up for best audio recording set-up, and after 20-30 shows getting better at it each show, you have a live album that pays for that engineer and thensome. A crappy band couldn't do it. But Trapeze was great!! What were they thinking?!

    Terrible recording and video. Drunk crowd. But you know Glenn Hughes is gonna rock out. He's performed live much much better than this, and this ain't bad in those conditions. Trapeze Medusa is a Top 10 album of all time. Listen to it before you disagree.
