David & Glenn have always been close! Glenn nearly died in the 80's from detoxing when he decided to quit coke, & he said that David never left his side! It's great to see these 2 friends perform together again!
Glenn's voice has changed with age very little over the years. Obviously David's has.....his upper register is essentially gone. Whats beautiful about this is the way David takes such joy and pride at watching Glenn. There is no jealousy there. True friendship.
I was on Whitesnake's concert in 2019, his upper register was ok) Not right until the end of a concert but he's a pro, you know, he knows how to deal with that)

Bloody fucking fantastic. When I first heard Dave I thought he was a great singer for Purple - then I heard Paul Rodgers. A-ha. Played 'Georgia On My Mind' from the LA '76 Purple CD for my daughter and when Glenn hit Verse 2 and his voice jumped up an octave, her mouth dropped open. Not surprised Dave bows here when Glenn leaves the stage. "God said, 'Let that boy sing'" - Glenn Hughes.
I must admit they may be getting on in years but that was sublime, Hughe's voice gets better with age like a fine wine. And yes that was Tommy Aldridge on drums
I don´t know a couple better than this guys, Coverdale and Hughes. Their vocal range and tones are so different but for that reason they connect in a wonderful way. Thanks forever for those amazing magic songs
