Nice fishroom but I can't get over this guy saying the sink "wasn't very expensive, only $700 or something like that" geeesh must be nice!! I'm not going to lie this is the nicest fishroom I have ever seen!!! I think king of diy did a tour here also!! Great stuff!!!
You got to admit tho, you want that sink.
Super clean. Loved the goodeid section
Great video tour of Rick Borstein's fishrooms, thank you!! Great collection of fish and nice brief discussion of each and aspects of the fishroom design.
Thank you! Can't wait to see your fish room! : -)
What a great fish room. So organized & clean. Thanks for taking us along Jason!
Thanks! It was pretty cool😀
Very interesting collection of species. A lot I've never seen before. Great fish room.
What an amazing fish room and very clean and tidy. Wow. Thanks for the share. Subbed 👍
Thanks for being here!
Great video!!!!!! Will make sure i do water changes weekly!!!!!
I love fish rooms like this. So well designed and thought out, down to every detail. Not sure how many picked up on this, but he even had some of the tanks color coded with blue or pink, for the sex of the fish. I like how he runs separate smaller linear piston air pumps rather than one large. Very forward thinking. The water change system it so well thought out. Dedication is when you bust up a concrete floor to add floor drains. 😉👍 Also like the diversity of fish he collects and keeps. From Dovii to Guppies. Any idea what racking he was using? Big box retail racks or commercial racking? Didn’t see any 2x4 or 2x6 racking. Tours like this are so helpful to those of us who strive to improve our fish rooms.
The organization was really awesome. The racks looked to be light industrial.
Nice , I've seen this fish room b4 on I think joeys channel but very nice.
Yes, he was there in 2017
@1:23 Jason I can see Tim DeRobertis in the tank reflection
"You can have one tank and do a really good job with it. And, you should be proud of that too." That was my favorite thing that was pointed out in the video. I think that some folks see all of these fish rooms and jump in without having developed a very sound plan and end up disappointed, or worse yet, having fish that suffer. Not due to the lack of good intentions but rather ending up miscalculating the time and expense involved with many multiple tanks. A single tank made and maintained to your utmost.....as Rick said, "you should be proud of that too."
For sure - good advice!
That is a cool fishroom!
Thanks Zenzo! It’s always fun seeing what other people are doing. 😀
this fishroom is really beautiful and well maintained. it's a nice job. I want to know what is the density of the foam used for the corner matten filter? 20 or 30 ppi? And thank you in advance.
Dalmatian Mollies are deceiving, I bought one that was mostly white with black speckles, and now he is all black with one spot of white.
so you know that you look like the actor Ryan Robbins? well just in case you didn't know you so do lol!
👍
You guys are too freaking cool!
This guy's so organized and clean 💞
Awesome!
I’ve mentioned this before and I’ll say it again here...Rick is the best example of a well ordered and functional fish keeper. His setup is a wanna be neat freak’s dream😍.
Yep, made me go home and straighten a few things up myself. 😀
That was awesome! How did he build that black circular feeding hole in the tops?
I don't remember but it's a cool addition!
Hi Jason, I have a VERY general frozen food question... What are your top 2 or 3 frozen foods (bw, bs, mysis, cyclops, etc..?) that you feed to community-type fish in your fish room (ie. guppies, tetras, platys, corys, etc.....) or small cichlids? And how often?
Thanks!
I really only keep two on hand - frozen brine shrimp and frozen blood worms. Everything can have frozen brine shrimp and I feed blood worms to everything but my mbuna cichlids (blood worms you just have to make sure whatever fish you are keeping can digest the high protein content well). Some fish might get frozen foods every couple days, while others not as often. Just depends on their diets.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics thank you!
I know this is a little old, but what i the black and white mixed substrate???
That is most likely Caribsea Cichlid Mix.
Remember, I urged you to at least experiment with a corner Matten filter. I hope this guy convinces you to try one. Increased media area, good surface agitation, high flow with jet lifters, near silent operation, and you get rid of those ugly, ugly, ugly, sponge filters. Pardon my fixation and fetish.
To me it's just a round sponge verses a square sponge! Haha
Very interesting thanks
I love seeing his fish room
It was really cool!
Dead fish on filter
Totally nerding out on this fish room and we all need that sink. I have the Ameca Splendans love seeing the CARES fish.
1:28, was that mesoheros ornatus? If so now I know how big they get! Awesome fishroom!
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS those were cichlasoma gephyrum
Thats the work of an engineering type
Cuales fueron los tips que dijo en el último minuto? No entendí bien, alguien que me ayude?
Fantastic!
Great tour awesome fishroom.
Superb techique.
A handbook of used materials and how to set up something like this would be useful for us struckling hobbist. Thanks for sharing.
Also the fish are amazing great job
Hey, check out my playlist - how to build a fish room. It has a lot of what you’re looking for.😀
Rick gave a talk on goodeids a recent Louisville Tropical Fish Fanciers. He's the best presenter I've seen. He's funny and quick on wit. I'm glad to see his fish room. I think a lot of us aspire to have organization like he does, but if you noticed it was teamwork with his wife. Thanks for the video. It gives me a lot of ideas for my solo fish rack.
He's a very knowledgable person! There were also some people from the GCCA that helped quite a bit as well!
I'm not a line breeder either, I prefer to colony breed.
Wait a cotton-pickin' minute! Just hold on there!! Fish rooms have floors???
When I manage to pick up my jaw off what you call a floor, I'll have a comment. Wow. Wow. Wow.
I much prefer this type of system over the generic water change system. I like LARGE water changes.
That labeling system - oh my! And the feeding area contraption!! The redundancy on his systems is top notch.
And I haven't even commented on all the amazing fish. I could write a whole book - or better yet - Rick should be writing a book! I would love details on his racks, his plumbing, every little invention he has incorporated into his fishroom. Just WOW!
Definitely a cool set-up to see in person!
Love the goodeid talk! Was going to do a fish room tour myself but then I saw you & Kasia, figured you guys would do a great job! You should stop by my place sometime! Would love to show off some more goodeids!
Definitely want to get out by you some time!
I'm in process of drilling several tanks for my fish room. i'm curious what be best location to put bulkheads in each?? Does it depend on where the tank is located, or to do with flow of water? kinda stumpted on this one..thx in adv...
I'm probably not the best person to answer that question because I don't drill my tanks. However, what I typically see, if the tanks are facing forward, is a hole drill towards the bottom for drainage (location dependent upon setup) and another one closer to the top for overflow (with a pvc elbow facing towards the surface). Fresh water usually comes in from the other side if running auto water change.
one of the cleanest well thought out fish rooms I have ever seen. Just came from another video giving tips when what he was showing is a giant mess.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
25:00 truth lol
Thumbs way up, great information thanks brother.
26:10 where do you get the side channel for these panels? You also mentioned silver tape that works better. Info on both would be nice. I like using these greenhouse panels as lids, but the junk that gets in the ends is a pain to clean.
You can get them at greenhousemegastore.com!
great video his fish room is excellent
the most tidy and neat fish room....thumb up....
Awesome fish room and tour. Do you know what types of racks he is using and where he got them?
Thanks Dan! I'm not sure where he got them, but they are industrial racks.
#CARES Awesome fish room and fish. Thanks!
One of the cleanest fish rooms I have seen in decades. Amazingly nice - cudos to Rick!
Ya, he keeps things looking very clean! : -)
Severums are my dream fish, not quite as picky as discus but just a pretty.
I love them too!
Severum are looking great.
I love his severum species!
@@PrimeTimeAquatics how to get hands on them. If he breeds them though?
Wow made me want to organize and clean my fishroom!!! Nice fishroom!!!
Me too!
What a beautiful fish room!
Cool video nice fish room
11:00 female dovii
Yeah I don't know what his smoking to think it's a male.
Awesome fish room ty for sharing!!!
Is there a link to where he got his corner sponge filters from?
Here you go! www.swisstropicals.com/filtration-shop/
Come tour my fish room
What are the lids made of?
They are polycarbonate green house siding. If you try it, I would go with the 6mm, not 4mm.
How can I get ahold of him to order fish?
I don’t think he sells fish as far as I know.
@@PrimeTimeAquatics oh, I thought I heard him say he had all his bags stored in those bins, figured he shipped. Thanks
Reeeally cool! Loved this vids!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching
Really eclipsed Joey's vídeo! . They sink reminded me of the scrounged one I had in my old greenhouse. His Black Princes are totally more healthy and larger than mine. Most importantly, he likes everything from
Dovii to Endless and is just down home. Thanks Jason
Thank you!
Good vid
Thank you!
