I was in bootcamp with him he was one of our divisions favorites amongst the staff and fellow recruits. He is just that type of a guy the type you always want in your corner!!!

I've been following Taylor and Danielle's story since he was injured in Afghanistan. They are remarkable people--from Iowa and "salt of the earth." This was a great talk, Taylor. I'm so impressed, because although I've read a lot about you, I've never heard you speak. I can see a bright future for you, and I'm thinking you're an entrepreneur and will come up with a good business plan and products to help not only amputees, but as your talk said, people without physical disabilities who need a role model for living a positive and fulfilling life.

I'm a unilateral BK. My attitude was the same as yours when I came to 4 days later. I hopped around on a walker, despite all my broken ribs, a day after waking, doing laps around the unit until a sweaty mess.
I can't tell you how much I admire and am amazed by how you handled what happened to you. It's truly inspiring, and I know it will help me as I move forward.

I thought of one small improvement I made to my prosthetic situation that perhaps might help others. I was told, that for the future I would have to take baths and not showers because I would not want to get the corrodible components of my prosthetic leg wet as they could rust. My insurance would not approve a shower leg. The solution that I came upon was cheap and simple: I turned the silicone liner down, thereby sealing off the top of the prosthetic, and tied a grocery plastic bag tightly around the ankle to prevent water from entering there. It takes about 15 seconds to set up and works like a charm.

I grew up on a dairy farm not too far from Cedar Falls and also joined the Navy back in 1965. I was a lucky one and much later retired from the reserves. I recently found Taylor and his remarkable story. I'll search for more about him and learn what he and his family are doing now many years later. Amazing story and family!

Taylor, I wanna thank you so much.
To do that, I'll share a little bit of my history.
I'm an almost 23 year old brazilian guy who had some issues. I lost my mom when I was 10 year old, and my father could not give me a very cool basic education. I suffered bullying at school about two years. And the public schools of São Paulo, my home citty, aren't a place you wanna apply your son or daughter to.
Besides this, I could apply to a very good scholarship in one university around, and after that, I was accepted in one of the best universities of the State, and one of the best brazilian universities of all.
Not enough, there in my new place I found the love of my life. I had, and still have, very hard times. We are too different. But through your history with Danielle I learned that true Love can win any obstacles.
Your story gave me faith, courage, patience and motivation. I feel so blessed by knowing it.
    THANK YOU.
GOD BLESS YOU, AND DANIELLE, YOUR RELATIONSHIP, AND ALL OF YOUR LOVED ONES.
I have no words to express my gratitude for you giving me that blessed and true lesson.
That's one way I found to try doing that.
    THANK YOU.
