Just an additional tip for drone and mining management. You should have a shredder that demands all the mining items. Set the priority to a negative value such as -5. This way when your storage fills up the drone will fill the shtedder. Set the shredder to auto shred. This way your auto miner will not back up and quit working. The storage containers should have a positive priority so the drones will fill the storage first then go to the shredder.
@@fiber_king2334 The tier 1 and 2 miners don't let you select what resources they pick up so you will quickly fill up your storage for the common resources on to the point where you don't care about them. The special resources like Uranium and Osmium then can't be produced because the miner is full of things like Iron and Titanium.
last time i played, priorities only had a range of -1 to +5, thus using -1 for the shredder. otherwise THE easy method to not jam miners. an alternative to shredding everything is to autocraft alloy, but that would need a much more complicated setup since it additionally requires alu, and still some overflow protection. ps: the same method of overflow protection also applies to other machines, eg collectors for ore T1&T2, gas T1, and phytoplankton collectors.

Good guide! Some tips (possible spoilers) for early-mid game: CTRL + rotate do 90 degrees. CTRL + L-Click inventory/storage item moves all of that type. Always carry an O2 bottle when exploring caves and such. Look all around, some loot and POIs are not that easy to see. Place pods at strategic places, like by caves and wrecks. Then have a landmark and safe haven. Basic materials are all over so pick on the spot. Also build a constructor and some storage. Then can use it to collect resources in the area for later transport. When have food production, then take some extra and place in the pods. Water collector (just carry Super Alloy and Aluminum) close to corner biomes then don't need to carry around H2O bottles, ice will melt when hot enough. Meteor materials de-spawn rather quickly, so if want as much as possible then run out and collect. Also will aim roughly at your position when it starts, so move if outdoors, else high chance you die. If place a ladder and remove the pod below, then it stays and free up ground space. Can even remove the upper pod to have a ladder on its own. Early on start exploring and learn the areas and resources there, particularly finding blue chests and food. Some areas will fill with water, so preferable do those before need to dive, with less mobility and sight. Try collect resources after a plan, where keep adding power and whatever terraforming devices. Lower tier devices often have some materials for higher ones, so consider dismantle and also save space if needed. Basic materials can always be used to make Super Alloy (rods) to also save storage. Later on then easy to get the materials by auto-miners. Jetpack can be used to "climb" mountains for shortcuts and terrain glitching. If want a more compact base, then there are some placement glitching where can get a lot into those larger pods. I use to place storage cabinets outside on foundations as a floor, then access from top, at level of rocket launcher base floor (where upper stairs close to main fabricators).
"The tier 1s will only give the basic resources." That applies to the superalloy cave, but not to the aluminum flats, the sulfur fields, or iridium caves.
in addition, T2 can mine all resources when in the correct areas (still "only the basics" everywhere else, indicated by the "iron" icon). T3 does the same as T2, but faster and selectable, AND also allows to select sulfur everywhere
This video was very informative and so well put together. I love the look of your base. I would love to see how you put it together. Thank you for sharing. 😊😊💜💜😊😊
That base was a test to see how compact I could go. If you watch my series you can see it being build with a couple of adjustments for changes to the game since I built it. Thank you very much for watching.
I agree. I really like your base design and following your series to see how you lay it out. I played in early beta but no idea how to properly layout out a base for automation, autocrafting or drones use.
One thing about harder difficulties and Hardcore especially, is food becomes the earliest 'hard cap' that can make you lose inevitably. In Hardcore you should always immediatly go to unlock a food grower. This takes 12000 oxygen (12 ppt). To get there effectively you'll need the T2 vegetube (500 heat). So your first setup in Hardcore should focus on vegetubes and T1 heaters (only to 500). Once you've 2-3 food growers, you can survive indefinately.
T1 heaters do almost nothing (seriously, look at them). If you focus on vegetubes, you'll have T2 heaters very quickly if you put the Golden Seeds in them.
What I do when wreckdiving is putting a small base outside with a blueprint screen. That helps a bit so you don't always have to drag them all to your main base.

Thanks for such a precise guide, I only started playing a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. I will keep returning to this as I expand. I'm just about to create my first vehicle so I'm hoping I can get around a bit quicker and not have to carry so many water bottles and oxygen tanks. Tfs

the _"atmospheric water collector"_ is not a rain collector, but a "humidity from air" collector, and thus also works while it is not raining. 17:10 _"it seems to collect faster"_ : no need to guess when *people should always look closely at all the popups and tooltips for a lot of useful information,* eg at 16:49 and 17:05 the tooltips give crafting times of 150 and 100 seconds per water for the two water collectors, overall the lake water collector having double internal storage and needing a third (33%) less time to produce each bottle. _(yes, youtubers can't rewind and pause as easily as i could do it now, but it's a general _*_tip for everybody to closely look at tooltips_*_ and also read them)_ btw: ice will disappear around the same time that you get the water collectors, and that is also the time when you get shredder and recycler. the recycler can "undo" almost all crafting, getting the resources back, eg from a duplicate oxygen tank that people made (hoping to double capacity). it also recycles rods (to ores) and some other unexpected things, eg recycling water to ice since water *can* be made from ice (even when you got it from a collector)
I have been waiting for the full release for a while now. Wish I didn't have work today so I could be home playing PC. Got this for my steam deck and I just can't wait.
During my first playthrough, when I first saw the water filling the area around my base, I didn't thought about it that much until my equipment started to submerge and shutting down. Then I realised that the area around my capsule would be submerged underwater. Now, I had a pretty big base already and it took me 3 hours to build my base near the Iridium area, and move all the equipments, machines and resources to the new base. Now although it was tiring, I am glad that I experienced it firsthand. I get to experience the game like it should be.
Freaking same. I saw the warning saying flood imminent. Then when I got comms up and running I saw the message from someone and I was like “oh f$&k”. So. I moved up the hill and raised my base just to make sure I’ll be in the clear. I am still moving my stuff as of now. It shows rain in about 90 percent more terraforming. So peeps be warned. Do not build base on low ground.
loll yeah same!! I saw them message going like "don't build on low ground" and for some reason went "pfff what's the worst that could happen". immediately learned what the worst that could happen was.
When you get out of your starting pod turn right and then you should reach a fairly flat space. It is outside the cave. That is the best place to build. That stays above the water level.
Once you get drones you can just make drop boxes anywhere while exploring. when your inventory full. create a platform and a storage box. set box to supply all. dump your items and drones will take them and sort them into your base.
i do it myself, but an alternative (as soon as they become available) is to build temporary teleporters. they allow to dump your backpack to sorting lockers at your base for shorter trips of the drones, and at the same time you can refill your own food/water/oxygen bars. This can also eliminate the need to build temporary habitats with lockers, crafters, screens, etc. (a lot less resources needed to be carried around all the time)
Absolutely brilliant video, every detail was to the point and so informative. Been stuck at home with covid for the last 6 days, watched your video before I bought planet crafter. Back to work tomorrow sadly. But managed to squeeze in 70 hours of play. 😂
I started a new game a couple months ago, and I struggled a little getting food growing in time. The early game is really a race to food growers ( 12.00 ppt O2 ) and some seeds for them. I also waited to do the teleporters until after I had the Tier 3 miners working on Osmium. I was saving the osmium for power and miners, The Osmium rods needed for teleporters are rough to make until you have Tier 3 miners.

this was a very informative video so I thank you for it, a lot. Well done! However, and this goes for virtually every game video I've watched....so not aimed at you personally really, but there's no central way to contact game video producers haha. I find myself feeling physically sick after a while this is because every video seems to constantly move, spinning and turning without stopping, like all your watchers would vanish if heaven forbid you stayed still for more than 1/16th of a second haha. Eventually I had to close my eyes and just listen to what you were saying rather than watching the screen, otherwise it would have been a rush to the bathroom for me.....
_[not addressed at surtr]_ ... yes, on a lot of gamevideos that is a problem for me too, even when not to that extreme that you experience, and in this video i didn't notice it at all. in games that allow it, i disable "head bobbing" and "depth perception/fading/sharpness" and all similar options to not make myself sick from walking, but then someone produces videos with all those effects and triggers them all the time. i'm always wondering why people seem to be unable to stand still (and instead walk back and forth, turn and jump around) while talking and explaining, and why they need to move their cursor around a menu item to circle what they want to show which makes lots of popups appear very shortly but almost never the popup that belongs to the item they want to show, etc. Another (at least to me) annoying effect is the music in many videos that are intended to teach, eg tutorials, tip&tricks, etc. Everybody should be able to play exactly that music that he wants at home for himself, while watching such videos. but i can't mute only the music in such videos and need to concentrate a lot more or view it mutiple times. How nice would it be if creators turn down the ingame volume of music for such videos, but instead there are some that add their own music to videos because many viewers complain if a video has no music. Am i really that old that i prefer to learn and watch without all these optical effects and music ?
It would be good if there were a link/pointer to this video on the start screen of the game. I've only played a few hours, but was close to quitting the game completely. This video has made me want/decide to go back and have another crack at it.
OMG can't wait, does anyone know the release time today for this? Looking forward to my new save and have some ideas I've been testing out in my custom save
Question about Optimizers: I never 'got' the production optimizers. I tried putting them with crafters, incubators and DNA manipulators, but didn't notice any difference. Does it work there, or is it just for Ore Extractors?
why do I want to play every version I install after saving, or the screen goes black or it throws me from a height and I can't do anything else?? Please guide me
That sounds like a serious bug. If you are not using mods or this is not a very old save, I suggest joining the game's Discord and reporting this to the devs. They might want a copy of your save file. If it is an old save or you are using mods, that is probably the reason for the issue.
As long as I don't exit the game, it runs very well, but then when I log in, I load from the save, this problem occurs, and in the old version that I installed, I fall from a height and I can't do anything. I have to buy the game from legal Steam because I downloaded it for free. ?
Do building material like Osmium respawn in there caves over time or how do u get more of that overtime? I´m currently close to the moss phase and find that i´m in constant need of Osmium to scale up the tech tree and i find it hard to find atm.
The resources don't respawn. You will need to get to Ore Extractor T2 before you can mine it. There are a lot of places where you can find Osmium around the map. Have a look at my playthrough. I do cover all of the areas where you can find resources.
yes, resources don't respawn directly, but there are occasional meteor showers, at the beginning only for the basic ores (including few alu). later you can trigger showers for two resources by sending rockets, and finally there will be even some meteor showers for alloy, quartz and osmium. But all meteor showers and all weather events are *purely random* from a list that depends on your level to have enabled specific types. my own first use of osmium is for miners, and then more miners :-)
I had my huge base built in the far north where there was a large area of totally flat earth. I logged in this morning with 1.0 and half of my base is either half underground or floating.
The video is full of spoilers about the late game stage. Do not recommend. This is a very simple game and I strongly recommend newcomers to explore it without spoilers - it will be super fun!
Thanks. I got into a bad habit back in the day. There was a bug that refilled the chests and since them I haven't broken any of them down. Just hoping it happens again.
I want to thank you for making a clear guide in which you don't distract us by acting like an unfunny clown the way some other channels do.

Thank you so much. Enjoy.
OMG can't wait, does anyone know the release time today for this? Looking forward to my new save and have some ideas I've been testing out in my custom save
No idea on the time. I hope its not too late. I have been awake for 20 hours already.
men your videos are great, thank you. One question where is the location of the thumbnail/layer of your video?
Thank you. That location was an event that the devs set up to hint at multiplayer. It is not available anymore.
Question about Optimizers: I never 'got' the production optimizers. I tried putting them with crafters, incubators and DNA manipulators, but didn't notice any difference. Does it work there, or is it just for Ore Extractors?
The production fuses only affect machines with a production time, like extractors. The more fuses you add, the faster they produce.
@@surtrplays
Thanks. I'd put one near the DNA manipulator at first because the time of making tree seeds annoyed me. But clearly it didn't work there.
Do the golden chests still give super alloy when deconstructed? It's a free couple of alloy if you dont have an extractor in the cave yet
Yes, they give a Super Alloy and and Aluminium.
Are you using any mods that you recommend? Quality of life and such. I'm in the early game in my 1st playthrough 😂
I haven't used a single mod on this game but I have heard that there are good one.
why do I want to play every version I install after saving, or the screen goes black or it throws me from a height and I can't do anything else?? Please guide me
That sounds like a serious bug. If you are not using mods or this is not a very old save, I suggest joining the game's Discord and reporting this to the devs. They might want a copy of your save file. If it is an old save or you are using mods, that is probably the reason for the issue.
Must be the original version purchased from Steam?
As long as I don't exit the game, it runs very well, but then when I log in, I load from the save, this problem occurs, and in the old version that I installed, I fall from a height and I can't do anything. I have to buy the game from legal Steam because I downloaded it for free. ?
If you are not running a legal copy, you probably will have problems.
Great job. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent guide
Thank you very much.
I had my huge base built in the far north where there was a large area of totally flat earth. I logged in this morning with 1.0 and half of my base is either half underground or floating.
The new biome looks great though.
you'll find that as the climate changes and there's more rain, some places will become underwater. see:atlantis for irl example
The video is full of spoilers about the late game stage. Do not recommend. This is a very simple game and I strongly recommend newcomers to explore it without spoilers - it will be super fun!
I understand, but it's hard to make a tips video for early-game players without spoiling some of the later discoveries.
Amazíng game.. connected from OFG
Thanks.
is that palm tree position gauranteed? iirc, the only way to get trees is a tree spreader but they put trees in random locs in a certain radius
You can eventually buy the tree planter blueprint through the trade port. Then you pop a seed into it and that is what you get.
that's cool
Allot of help thank you 🙏🏻
Glad it helped. Thank you for watching.
And here i am, watching eng guids cause in my country nobody knows about this game:( great vdeo
That sounds like an opportunity for you. Thanks for watching.
actually cobalt is considered a rare material
Not on that planet. ;)
My Game DOES NOT even show that Option to Change the Game Mode? Why is that????
Do you version 1.0? It should.
@@surtrplays I was still playing on the demo!! DURP!! lol
LOL, it happens. Have fun.
deconstruct the golden cheats they give you a super alloy
Thanks. I got into a bad habit back in the day. There was a bug that refilled the chests and since them I haven't broken any of them down. Just hoping it happens again.
Please tell me this is coming to consoles! I want to play this so bad.
I'm not sure. They have full controller support so maybe one day.
👍
🙂
600 hours...nice...
Thank you.
🤣 my first base is now underwater 😭
We have all been there.
🎉🎊WELCOME TO THE CLUB 🎉🎊
