There is a metal washer you are missing on your oil filter. It stuck with my old one but I did get it off. It goes between the spring and the outer oring gasket.
Good catch. This one was missing it when i took it apart so i didn't realize that. I found the part number. 15414-300-000. Looks like a washer. Luckily there is quite a bit of preload in that spring so it should have good tension on it, even with that washer missing. A concern would be that the spring would push into the rubber gasket and potentially cause an issue. But it's been over a year and the person who owns this has had no problems. Send it!
I tried Amsoil once in my Honda Rancher and it made my Honda matic hydraulic transmission sing loudly even when it was warm. I put Honda oil back in it and stopped. The Amsoil met all the JASO classifications requirements. The parts store told me that they had heard similar things from other Honda quad owners.
I called amsoil and mentioned this. They said that they've never heard of it happening before. They aren't sure why you'd have that issue. They will make note of it and look into it.
@@Whitestrash Thanks. Yes my transmission was definitely making a winding sound. The parts guy warned me that people with Honda ATV's were saying this when I purchased it. . I use Valvoline ATV oil now from the local Tractor Supply. Runs very smooth and quiet.
Hi can you recommend a piston rebuild kit for this ? I have an 05 rancher AT also and all I see is the nakumaro kits and have read they aren't too goof, mine says trx400FGA on the sticker
I have been. Good stuff! Im a huge Honda fan myself. I work on other people's stuff mostly because my stuff (hondas) usually never breaks...lol. This is the first Honda other than mine that I've had to work on.
Gn4 is good, however no oem makes their own oil. They just have criteria to meet and have someone else make it as cheaply as possible. Amsoil designs each oil or fluid to be the best it can be without cutting any corners. The same is true for many other oil manufacturers. You can't go wrong with gn4, but there is better out there. As far as the oil change light, i couldn't show that because the display on this machine wasn't working.
I have the same four-wheeler except mine is green:-) thanks for the video!

I have the same bike I just changed the oil and I didn't see any metal washer

Interesting. Possibly a viscosity issue?
@@Whitestrash No, I used 10W40 like always and it made a continuous winding noise. The Honda dealer told me use conventional GN4 oil or an equivalent.
@@martinschulz9381 good to know. I'm going to call amsoil customer service and tell them about this.

Is it supposed to 2 1/2 quarts of oil? Because I have the same model and google is telling it tales 4 quarts.
My model is TRX400FA4
I ended up using 3 quarts. The spec I found said 2.96 qts. I know the dct models use about 4 quarts.
Ok thanks

Not sure of any specific kits, but I'd go with oem or wiesco. They'd have the best quality.
Great, thank you!
How is that auto transmission holding up?
As far as I know it's still good. Not my machine, but i haven't heard any complaints.
@@Whitestrash I have one git it new in 2006 so far so good. But have heard bad things about them. Auto transmission going out
Good job , maybe look at my stuff all Honda
