Nearly all power steering fluids are a basic Dexron II IIIi autotransmision fluid. Fluids sold labeled power steering fluid are autotransmision fluid with some additives only required for autotransmisions omitted from the blend.
Comprehensive, timely n useful video. I m owner of old disel car. There may not be life-time oil for engines as claimed by car producers. I m from india. Here, brake oil is used to work for clutch( manuals) too. I mean only one oil for functions of the both. Likewise, transmission oil is used for shifting gear too. Here, transmission oil is called gear oil. Subject to Limitation of my knowledge, i have not heard of differential oil here. Plz clarify whether transmission oil flow is designed to work for( as) differentials oil also in india?🎉❤❤❤
Highly recommend to change your oil at least every 5k. It is amazing how bad the oil gets even if you use full synthetic oil. Never go 10k. The oil gets seriously thick and leads to oil starvation
diesels always have black oil instantly so the color checking is only for gas engines, except checking for head gasket leak of course. the transmission fluid is a pain to change in a manual and not really necessary. its more about the filter in an automatic or a flush when it makes noises while shifting. i ve owned manuals with nearly 300k kms and the transmission fluid was never changed and the transmission was still like new, except for the clutch of course but at that point its okay to have clutch wear
Oil is so easy to check and understand. It’s the most important fluid in the car after the coolant and transmission fluid. The oil on the dip stick should read between the high mark and the low mark. If it’s above the high mark you got way too much oil in the engine if it’s below the low mark you need to add oil. You want it to read between the high and low marks. Colour of the oil can tell you how old the oil is getting. A clear colour is fresh oil a brown colour is a little used a dark brown colour it’s time to change black it’s gone to far.
It is lifetime transmission fluid, just the lifetime is reduced due to no fluid changes… I would never let transmission fluid go for more than 40k miles, cheap insurance
Nothing is "life time" when it comes to any machine be it a manual bike or a car a train or a plane they are machines and machines serve doesn't matter if it still looks "pristine" and little to no wear on a part or component im saying this with regard to a period of extended time you still replace. it all machines have a depreciation value
I think what they mean is that the engine would probably not last as long as the transmission fluid. But yeah if you've gone 100k miles you should definitely at least check the transmissions fluid
Small transmission that are found in smaller machines like motorcycles and dirt bikes etc need higher viscosity to be lubricated properly and also the transmission in motorcycles are basically part of the engine itself unlike cars were the transmission and engine are separated
Amzoil 100% TRUE synthetic oil....i still change out with no more than 6,000 miles between oil changes and cheap overall insurance that engine will last many many miles.
@@andrewwmacfadyen6958you don't hurt the car by doing early preventative maintenance. Once your transmission starts slipping however it's just a matter of time.
Seriously bad information about semi-synthetic oil it was historically a compromise substitute for fully synthetic motor oils. Changing automatic transmission fluid on modern cars is no longer simple job and best left to a specialists or dealer.
What I don’t understand about brake fluid is how come it HAS To be hydroscopic?? Is there no fluid that doesn’t draw water that would be viable as hydraulic brake fluid??🐼
A little over is Ok. But not much. There are suction tubes you can use to take some out from the top. Or you can open the drain plug and take out just a little. Whenever draining fluids, always make sure to open the fill point, or you could be in for a lot of hassle. But hey, I only remember that half the time myself😂
@@ashresearcher that is true, but the bigger uhoh is if the fill point is stuck. you drain all the oil, then have no way of getting it back in, and you can't drive the car. for example, it's much better if you find out that the oil cap won't come off. then you drive to the mechanic if you can't take it off yourself, no tow truck required.
Always to the full mark . I had my ATF changed just over 60000 miles . The mechanic said it looked " nasty " . I'm changing it every 30000-40000 miles .
Diff oil can take more heat?, even tho engine oil is near contained explosions? Synthetic oil is made from chemicals but conventional oil what? The author needs an expert proofreader instead of some guy who owes him $50
This is an amazingly educational video(loved it)
Thank you for the information, the video was helpful 💯

Changing engine oil at such short intervals seems to be an obsession in the USA.
I do it every 3,500 is that overkill?
@@andrewwmacfadyen6958
Because we've seen what happens when you don't. I've seen a lot of tear downs of 10k mile oil changes and the engine is junk.
@@anthony-i1k8c my tundra didnt even burn a drop or tick after 130k miles...(10k interval 0w20 full syn)

There's always exceptions but that doesn't reflect the overall.
I've seen a TON burning oil near 100k. Many, many of them. Congrats on your luck.

Good Content!
Excellent explanation, thanks.
Exalent video.
Amazing informative ❤
Are the manual and auto trans oil/fluid changes reversed in interval? I thought the manual lasts longer
Very good video
Great video. Thanks.
That’s quite interesting as hell. I’ve never noticed that a car had different fluids for a lot of different parts😃
Thank you for the information

What about blinker fluid?
Cool explanation thanks
well explaned
thank u the video was helpful
it's very helpful
Excellent
Thanks
When you should change coolant fluid, how often?
EP 80 W LL means what grade ?
The lifetime transmission fluid is a myth. Change it every 50 to 60 thousand miles due to companies not putting filters in the transmission.
It is lifetime transmission fluid, just the lifetime is reduced due to no fluid changes… I would never let transmission fluid go for more than 40k miles, cheap insurance
Good one.
Done ✔️ 👍 👌🏽 ⏳️
The w stands for winter, not weight
Life time fluids are a scam pls don't do it 🙏🏾.
OAT type coolants remain good for a very long time simple enough to check concentration and PH are within spec.

Lol 😂they get a lot of people to kill their vehicles just to sell more that’s why I don’t even trust dealership service intervals
Don't forget the Blinker fluid 😉
Oh shi almost forgot thanks bro 🙏🏼
The Winker fluid?
Applicable only on BMW😂
My car has no transmission fluid dip stick. Also has no cap to open.
Unless your car is electric you should either UA-cam where to find it or read the manual. It's there.
Why motorcycle have only motor oil ?
depends on the type of motorcycle 🏍️
To lubricate the clutch and gearbox and cool down the engine
Small transmission that are found in smaller machines like motorcycles and dirt bikes etc need higher viscosity to be lubricated properly and also the transmission in motorcycles are basically part of the engine itself unlike cars were the transmission and engine are separated
Most motorcycle motor oils are designed to lubricate the transmission as well. That is why, you should not use regular car motor oil in a motorcycle.
They aren't as complicated

Is it alright adding a PTFE(Teflon ) oil additive to a new car's engine oil?
Thanks!
Just do early engine oil changes for a new car. Like 1000 miles, 2500 miles, 5000 miles, then 5k mile intervals
There is no life time atf. It’s better to drain and fill every 20-30k
With modern synthetic transmission fluid 90,000 miles is more realistic unless the vehicle is used for towing or off-road

Exactly! Because the manufacturers telling you 10000 mile oil changes are ok are the same ones who will be selling you that next new car!

Using non hydroscopic brake fluids ie DOT 5.0 was tried but brought it's own problems,so much so DOT 5.1 a conventional brake fluid was introduced
$$$$
What if the oil is above the maximum mark? My dealership seems to put it 20% over
