I absolutely LOVE this episode!! This build felt more like real life to me. Warm fuzzies all around!!! So very down-to-earth & affordable. Plus - it's GORGEOUS!!! And the VIEWS are TO DIE FOR!!!! While I also enjoy watching the other builds which are bigger & fulfilling of people's dreams, those price tags just aren't realistic for me. Although I very much like dreaming about building big, those builds come with a result of a bit of detachment w my feelings bcuz realistically, I know that's NEVER going to happen for me. This family jumped in feet first, and figure it out as you go! Which is something I often do too. I get it. I'm very happy it has all worked out for them! And best of all - they still have (at least a tiny bit) of savings in the bank!! Good On Them!!!! They're living the DREAM!!!
Wow, it turned out beautifully. Loved the wood, and the wood, and the wood. Although they originally budgeted $80,000, the final number of $120,000, is not as bad as I was thinking. And having practically built it themselves...priceless. Wishing the family a wonderful future in their home. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤
Rebecca's dream, Gregorys absolute perseverance to give his family a dream home!!!! Wonderful home!! Wonderfully built, well done to both of you! Enjoy! KEVIN, once again, presented yet another wonderful home!!!
The wood? No them make beams in a similar mannor. Maybe known as LVL beam. Hard to come by something like this in the USA as it’s very established in known cheap methods of building.
I first saw this episode a coupla years back but, as a self-build/archt I wanted to re-see the constn but also the personal relationship of the Owner Couple. Pleas don't tell me that it all fell apart a year or two later !!
I prefer kids who have enough imagination to think outside of the box, and outside the parameters of the coloring book. I also prefer the adults who grew up being able to do that too. It makes for a MUCH more interesting person.
I was thinking the same thing. He really looks American. I was convinced he was then his wife said he was raised in California. I guess he is American who has lived in the UK for a while and developed a hybrid accent.
How absolutely disappointing. The outside looks so warm and homely, and the inside is so stark and rigid. I love wood, but it all looks so unfinished and ugly. The dining room table could have been stained a bit darker to link in with the kitchen island. The fridge is tucked around the corner, that'll get old very quickly. All sharp rough edges for two toddlers and a baby. Rough stairs going up and sharp steps going down with no safety. Tiny cramped room for the toddlers, where does the new baby sleep? The downstairs is cold and rough looking. I've never been so disappointed in a Grand Designs build.
I love this episode! It is so revitalizing when folx can keep parts of an older structure and then blend it with modern lines and updates. Wonderful!
I'm crying for joy with her, as well - unbelievably perfect!
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for showing this.

I love that house. What an amazing feat.
I LOVE this program! So many amazing builds and this is no exception. Homey and rustic, inviting. Well done!
Exceptional!
Courage and genius.
Favorite episode, one of my favorite houses
It’s like having the nicest tree house as your home
Nice!
Best build I've ever seen, stunning decor 🎉
Love it
well done!!!
Bravo!!!!
How was the downstairs stone building attached to the upstairs wooden building? I hope it wasn't just placed on top😅?? I doubt it.
What Kevin said... ❤
Would this be called "veneer" in the USA?

How is the house today? I wonder how it has held up.

Why are your children drawing on the walls? Don't they have coloring books?

@@gardengatesopen Somebody else's walls. Nope.
I keep writing a comment, then in the middle of it, it disappears into thin air!! Arrggg!!!
What's the deal????
Can someone explain to me Gregory's accent? Is it Jersey or Californian or something else?
I was thinking the same thing. He really looks American. I was convinced he was then his wife said he was raised in California. I guess he is American who has lived in the UK for a while and developed a hybrid accent.
He looks a bit like Maron Brando...
😀

I thought the same thing! Looks like everyone else in the comments loves this house
Freaking stunning. WOW!!! WELL DONE!!! Legendary. I certainly would consider this. Single level or with an elevator. 🦽
