- This is a video of procedure in growing and caring for Norfolk Island Pine Tree (Araucaria Heterophylla) at home. It took 182 days for the plant to grow well.
I bought mine back in 2018 and it's taken over my dining room. If it keeps growing like it's doing I'm going to have to find a bigger place to live that also offers higher ceilings. The only things I did was: Get a big enough pot so it has room to grow, place it in front of the south facing window so it can get full sun (At least from mid-Aug until early-May), place the pot on a few bricks to keep it out of any standing water, clsoe the a.c. vent above it, feed it 5 fertizer sticks twice a year, be sloppy when watering it so the water can evaporate and create a bubble of humidity around it, and prune any dead limbs that I might find about every third month. Nothing much but it must be enough because it's flourishing and quite happy.
Hi Michael, wow, what a beautiful plant you have there. Thanks for sharing your tips as well. Those are very helpful for us. Welcome to my channel :)
@@AdelaBespejo I love your video. I wish I could show a picture of my tree because the thing has fresh shoots all over it. My family has told me that I need to shape it but I'm afraid I might kill it if I did, and it's doing too good to allow that to happen
great video beautiful pine tree thank you for sharing with us
Thanks too Dinora :)
I love Norfolk pine I bought a large one that was decorated for Christmas it was the only one for 22$ and it was meant for me 😘
That's great Sierra, this is perfect to use as a Christmas tree for decoration :)
@@AdelaBespejo this is the worst to use as a Christmas tree unless you live in a very warm place.
I like this plant! I have this kind of Araucaria tree at my home also!

Thank you Musarrat :)
In this 182 day period of growth, was it left indoors, or was it outside right where the video was taken..? Direct sunlight..?
Hi, it is in shaded area of the house not actually direct sunlight. :)
Hi friend, I hope you can help me with a question: I have an araucaria in a house that I bought and its about 3 meters from the building. The house had 30 years old and the pine is over 20m high. In the surroundings, sidewalks, house etc. no affect is seen. Do you think that at this point it can still affects something in the house? Greetings

Hi, can this survive indoors. like the only source of light is the house light? thanks
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Did you prune it? If yes, how often and how did you choose what to prune?
Hi Vicky, I didn't prune the plant. I just let them grow well :)
Lindooooo!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi. Any tips for propagating? I have a fairly small one and lower branches go brown, crispy and die. The rest of the plant is growing well. Would like to propagate and make a new one. Thank you!
Hi David, that is a good question because I am currently propagating the leaves of this plant both in water and soil. I will post it soon :)
I grew mine from a seed picked up on the promenade In Freemantle in 2017. I grew it as a Bonsai in a dish 20/30cms, it is now 4 years old and trimmed to about 80/85cms in height. (unable to add photo’s)
Cut a branch soak in aloe vera plant for 30secs and insert in coconut husk and plant in a pot. Dont forget to cover it with plastic and keep away from direct sunlight
thank you for the vid! we have ome since our house was built in 2008 but sadly, the roots hit one of the water pipes in the garden so my dad said that if they dig up the broken pipe, the tree could die. i'm trying to search ways on saving cuttings to propagate it or something. ^^
I grew mine from a seed picked up on the promenade at Freemantle in July 2017. I’ve grown it as a Bonsai in a dish 30cm x 25cm, it’s now 4 years old and trimmed to about 80/85cm in height.(can’t put any photos up).
To think that if you plant it on the ground it can reach a height of up to 50 metres
Yes, Norfolk Island Pine Tree is a huge TREE when planted on the ground. But you can make it smaller for home plant if you plant it on planter pots.
Cuye one
Thank you :)
You cant take a stroll near the beach without seeing this plant
I have one it's like a foot and a half tall I got it from Walmart like a year and a half ago then it was like 5 in tall
Hi just wanna ask you did you water the baby pine tree everyday or not thank you
Hi, I just water when the soil is dry :)
Do you have video for propagate the pine tree
Is there a possible way to plant it by cutting the twigs?? it seems our only 1 tree at home doesnt have seeds..
Hi Reyndrops G., in my experience, I haven't tried it yet, but based on my research, it can be propagated using 6- to 8-inch cuttings of the plant.
We should keep it in sunlight or dark place?
Hi, can you help me? This is my first planting in this tree. I do not know how to plant. Will this tree grow so big? Or is can grow like a small flower vase?
Hi, yes it can grow very big like a tree
Recently I bought a pine tree and I changed the pot when I brought it home, but since then the branches are getting dry. I am watering it every day o keep the soil wet but it seems it doesn't work! Any suggestion to help my pine look fresh and health? Thank you
Hi Arash, sad to hear that and thanks for sharing your experience. After buying the plants, it is not advisable to transfer it immediately on a new pot because it is the common cause of dying of plants. You should place them in bright shaded area without touching the roots and the soil to allow the plant to adjust from the environment of the store to your home. But since it is already done, I think, there may be a problem with the soil that you used to replace. Try changing the potting mix with well draining soil and place in shaded area. Water when the soil is dry. Avoid overwatering.
@@AdelaBespejo Adela, Thank you for taking the time and replied me. I will find a good soil and will change it.
Thanks too Arash, just share your experience here and I would be glad of help :) Happy planting :)
Shall I keep this in terrace garden?
Hi Dvaid, yes, you can keep it in your terrace garden.
“How to repot pine” correction caption
Hi Khalil, the repotting depends on the size of the Tree and the type of soil :)
Adela B Exactly! Different plant requires different mediums and nutrients.
may i know whats the exact height and diameter of your pot?
Isko cutting se kaise laga tha ful ko Hindi
Is the plant outdoor or indoor
Good day! I have blue pine, juniper, and norfolk island pine tree.. same lng po ba ng proper care sknla tatlo?? Morning sunlight po and water it when the soil is dry???? Thanks in advance!
Hi Arianne, wala pa po akong blue pine at Juniper. But based on my experience on most plants. They are healthy growing when watering only when the soil is dry. And morning sunlight or shaded area will do. Thanks :)
Hi, would appreciate any tips you can share please. How to revive our potted pine tree? We had it since last year and it was placed outdoors. It is not looking as green as it used to now. Brown needles. I want to save it, if I can. I moved it to the front porch but it is still exposed to direct sunlight. Should I move it somewhere cooler, with less exposure to the sun?
Please advise. I hope it is not too late. Thank you.
Hi Jo, sorry for the late response. Try to place the plant in area with bright and indirect sunlight or shaded area. Also, it may be caused by infestation in the roots that needs repotting using a new soil which is drench with insecticide and fungicide.
@@AdelaBespejo Thank you.
Would you be able to recommend a good fungicide that works for this type of situation please?
Thanks again 😊
Can araucaria propagate by cuttings?
Hi Joel, I will try that soon, thanks for giving an idea :)
Can it be place indoor?
Yes. Read my comment to see what I'm doing. If you follow that, your pine will flourish. Mine certainly is and it's completely taking over my dining room as a result LOL
@@michaelhargus4316 hi. I am from Malaysia. My pine tree is outside expose to.morning n afternoon.sunlight. But it grows well . I water it everyday before 12pm. Daily i will pour haif a glass of fruits skin fermented cultured with banana skin.
How to recover that plant? Its leaves getting withered
Hi Bill, avoid overwatering the plant and place in shaded area :)
Why do you have to wait for one week to place in shaded area? This doesn’t make any sense. I’m should be placed in shaded area immediately.
In which month we can grow them pls reply
please kind human, show me how this tree's seed looks like because i have A 40m one at home and id love to get it growing more here at home
Hi Brian, I suggest that you search on Google. This is the phrase "norfolk island pine seeds" Goodluck.
@@AdelaBespejo thank you 🙏🏿

Put it moist soil and cover with a plastic bag, it takes a couple of months. Do not put in sun but give a lot of light and keep them at 22 celsius.
Leaves are getting brown what can I do
Hi Nazish, what soil did you use? Where did you place the plant? Thanks
I bought one. Tapos water 1 or twice daily.
You only transferred the plant to other pot... How to grow and propagate it?
by vegetative reproduction (cloning), cut a branch of the pine, remove the leaves near the base, cover it in aloe vera gel, then stick it in coconut husk and plant it in soil, keep the soil humid, now you have two pines
Tree name
Hi, this is called Norfolk Island Pine Tree :)
What soil should we use for a pine tree?
Hi Arushi, in this video I used pure cow dung manure :)
This is not a pine tree its a tropical tree of an araucaria family but actual pine trees of Indian origin usually grow in well drained, slightly acidic soil keep it moist but not muddy.
Ambilis po lumaki
Oo nga po :)
The pot is definetely too big
Yes Lorena, thanks for watching :)
