I wonder how Scottie Barnes feels about the idea of tanking another year or two of his career.

Raptors could trade back Jakob to Spurs for a 2nd draft pick :)

The mistake was the attempt in the positionless concept that failed miserably. That set this team back at least 2 years. And as for rebuilding through the draft, how well has it worked for the Pistons.

Its the only way...no top level and young free agent is coming to Toronto...and you would really have to hit big on a trade.

The team and individual players have very different objectives. If the team decides to tank next season, it hurts players who are currently in their prime. Wouldn't blame some if they start wanting to be traded to teams where they could actuallymake the playoffs. The average career is short.

If Jak end up being better than everyone in this lottery pool there are no issues here. Especially in the centre position. Raptors needed a centre. They went without a good one for 3 years and it destroyed the team. Hawks didn’t need to tank to get the 1st pick. They need to try and win now and give Scottie reps. The focus needs to be giving this new core reps and a winning culture. No more tank talk please.

Masai is not the type of guy to use tanking as a rebuilding strategy. I could see him employing it in the event that they were out of contention 3/4 into the season though.

This cannot last more than another year! If they do decide to tank next season, they will have to sort out our roster by the 2025 draft. If it does go down like that this will still have been a fairly quick rebuild. It took OKC 3 years to rebuild and return to competing level. The other option is to trade for a pick this draft. Eg the Rockets already have a roster full of young prospects. They will likely wan't to move their 2024 draft picks for future picks in later years. This could be a great opportunity for Toronto to draft a player they really wan't eg. Nikola Topić.

Let be honest, they will not tank next year, they gonna try to win as much as they can before they make a tank decision, i think next year will be a more of a evaluation year to see ok a full season of bbq looks like this what pieces are really missing, honestly with the right moves this offseason we may be back in the playoffs next year
