On Board: SF Muni New Flyer Xcelsior XT40 (5701)

Debuted in April 2018, I got to ride the latest vehicle in San Francisco Municipal Railway's fleet, the New Flyer Xcelsior XT40 trolleybus. It will slowly replace the aging ETI-Şkoda 14TrSF trolleybuses operating multiple lines. The first XT40 units will be based out of the Presidio Yard, initially operating on the 2-Sutter (weekday rush hours only) and 3-Jackson lines, with plans to expand its operation footprint to include the 1-California, 5-Fulton, 21-Hayes, 24-Divisadero, 31-Balboa, and 33-Ashbury/18th Street. Other trolleybus lines, including the 6-Haight/Parnassus, 22-Fillmore, 30-Stockton, 41-Union, and 45-Union/Stockton, will still see the old buses until more XT40s come in.
