This is my official UA-cam channel focusing on my key passions: transportation planning, riding transit vehicles, and urban planning. While there will be the occasional gaming video posted on this channel, it will be related to my broader discussion of transportation and mobility. And there will be some discussions in Filipino (Tagalog) as well, in which it will be highlighted in the video description.
My mantra is, "you can have all the homes, businesses, and factories all you want. Without a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network, however, we risk losing communities to climate change and rising sea levels." While the discussions on my channel might be difficult for some people to understand, I commit to explaining such concepts in layman's terms with as little planning jargon as possible. And I am committed to become one of the best transportation planners in the business.

On Board: FULL AC Transit Tempo Southbound Journey from 19th Street BART to San Leandro BART
With Transit Month in September 2021, and AC Transit offering free rides at the same time on Fridays, I took the opportunity to ride the agency’s first Bus Rapid Transit service (which is also the San Francisco Bay Area’s first, full-fledged BRT line, with VTA Rapid Lines 500, 522, and 523 as prototypes): the Tempo, also known as Route 1T. I rode the full line southbound from Broadway & 20th Street (19th Street BART) to San Leandro BART, complete with on board observations (and a point where I gave up a seat for an elderly passenger along International Blvd). The Tempo ride is one of the highlights of my Transit Month quest to reach all 27 transit agencies in the Bay Area in September, and although there is no front mounted bike rack for one of my friends, the bike rack inside the bus, similar to what VTA has on some of its New Flyer XDE60 articulated buses, allows cyclists to bring their bikes on the bus. The unit number is 2320, a 2017 New Flyer XD60 articulated bus modified for BRT, with three doors curbside and two doors on the driver’s side.

Transportation Planning Talks: Micromobility
Переглядів 1593 роки тому
Part of my series on transportation planning discussions, I uncover a mobility option that is fast becoming popular in communities large and small: micromobility. Micromobility includes modes such as bike share and scooter share, in which these address a commuter's first- and last-mile accessibility challenges. These modes can be seen as slightly faster than walking or taking transit, and these...
Transportation Planning: The Basics and Why I Chose the Profession
Переглядів 2543 роки тому
Transportation planning is a profession that is not that well-known for many people, even though its role is instrumental in keeping communities moving. In this video, I explain what transportation planning is all about, what motivated me to become a transportation planner, and some basic information on what to expect if you choose to go into the profession.
A Heartfelt Message on the VTA Mass Shooting Incident
Переглядів 713 роки тому
To donate to the VTA mass shooting tragedy victims, head to act.wpusa.org/vta_victims_support_fund and donate generously. Thank you. As I woke up listening to my bedside radio on May 26, 2021, I sensed something went terribly wrong. Worse, it happened not that far from where I went to school, San Jose State. The most depressing: it involved a transit agency I have dealt with for many years, the...

On Board: SF Muni New Flyer Xcelsior XT40 (5701)
Переглядів 18 тис.6 років тому
Debuted in April 2018, I got to ride the latest vehicle in San Francisco Municipal Railway's fleet, the New Flyer Xcelsior XT40 trolleybus. It will slowly replace the aging ETI-Şkoda 14TrSF trolleybuses operating multiple lines. The first XT40 units will be based out of the Presidio Yard, initially operating on the 2-Sutter (weekday rush hours only) and 3-Jackson lines, with plans to expand its...
On Board: One Stop Ride on BART's Fleet of the Future
Переглядів 46 тис.6 років тому
A friend of mine alerted me that the Richmond train behind the Daly City train we were on from Dublin/Pleasanton was the Fleet of the Future train. I was initially hesitant to ride it at first due to time constraints as I had to be in San Francisco before 8:25pm. But, given that I can afford a short detour from Lake Merritt to 12th Street/Oakland BART stations (while having enough time to trans...
Muni Siemens LRV4: A Tale of Two Rides
Переглядів 14 тис.6 років тому
On a day out to San Francisco, I rode not one, but two of Muni's newest Siemens Light Rail Vehicles (LRV4) and managed to get two of them in one station. - Vehicle 2009 is an outbound L-Taraval train, which I rode from Powell to Van Ness stations. - Vehicle 2006, the unit I first rode when the new LRV series debuted in October 2017, is an inbound N-Judah train. Originally ending at Caltrain Dep...
BART Fleet of the Future: Fremont to Lake Merritt
Переглядів 12 тис.6 років тому
Heading home after class at San José State on a weeknight, a friend of mine and I waited for a BART train to Richmond from Fremont. To our surprise, the train we got was one of the new Fleet of the Future trains by BART that it was listed as a 6-car train. We never expected to get this train as we were heading back from the South Bay, so I filmed the trip a little bit after we boarded until we ...

BART Fleet of the Future: Richmond to (almost) North Berkeley
Переглядів 10 тис.6 років тому
I unintentionally cut the video due to the fact that I pressed Stop rather than the Take Photo button, but here's the arrival of the first of BART's Fleet of the Future. This section depicts Richmond to (almost) North Berkeley, and I will upload the next sections afterwards (up to 12th Street Oakland for the time being). Next time, I will add the 12th Street south to Fremont segment.
BART Fleet of the Future Arrival and Departure Sequence
Переглядів 6 тис.6 років тому
In this video, you will hear how BART's new Bombardier trains (dubbed Fleet of the Future) decelerates as it arrives at a station, does its door movements, and accelerates as it leaves a station. This section is through Fruitvale BART as the train heads south towards Fremont on the Richmond - Fremont line. Notice the obvious and subtle differences you can hear through the sequence, from the aut...

Excellent news for all of us who are still waiting for the next big thing
Nice catch
Thank You!
Trump 2024!❤
Wow. It is a empty bus. I am afraid the few passengers would be off-duty drivers hitching free rides back home. What a waste of natural resources !
Oh no the drone is still flying 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is an orange line bound train. It seems that when these trains were first introduced, the color of the line was not included in the announcements, but as of 2022, I think, they would include it, which really helps out for people who are visually impaired.
I wish that bus came back
21:00 the train says Rock instead of Alum Rock lol
20:52 Welcome to Santa Teresa😊
10:20 MT View on Alum Rock Santa Teresa Line all trains got mixed up lines lol
Santa Teresa class of 97 and EVC class of 06 business Administration here. I was like the only one person that ride light rail in San Jose.
Very Fast BART Train.
26:20 Great America Levis Stadium
7:09 NASA Bayshore thats also Moffet Field station
i like your video
D d d did you not tap your card
Nice
0:10 Alum Rock😊
9:25 sneeze
Bless them
I wish they would get rid of those long announcements every time passengers ring the bell for their stop. Just change it to “stop requested”. No need to tell people to remain seated in two languages. It gets old fast.

THAT TRAIN IS SO SLOW
Well, to be fair, that particular train had to cross about a hundred switches between the two stations he happened to film. Every line of BART crosses a major junction in that area, and they all need to slow down at that point. That may be part of what you're seeing in this video.
it's cuz of the Oakland Wye
I liked it especially at the end. Thank you for taking the time to record it and share it!
Nice catch
The voice on this train is Acapela Sharon.

Audio? Let me check. If the audio isn't working, I will drop the video and redo it.
@@wishfulanthony yeah the audio is not working
@@smy9735 All right. Confirmed. Recorded it with OBS, but it looks like the audio was not properly formatted. I will do a retake of that video ASAP and add more stuff along the way.

Hi, I am also in the VRA group.
Vanessa Hudgens: “I’m Vanessa Hudgens. This is an Express Train. After Convention Center, this train does not stop until Ohlone/Chynoweth”.
"This is an Express Train. After Convention Center, this train does not stop until Vanessa Hudgens".
I work one the same trolley buses in downtown Seattle
What is your favorite light rail stop mine is orchard
Mine is mountain view and Gish
I rode this as a kid when i went to school with this
I really hate the BART's seating arrangement. Inconvenient to get in and out of some of the seats without asking to be excused. Easy in n out like Hong Kong, Tokyo, NYC, Singapore
It's been a year since I've been to S.F. Those old trains are noisy. They sound like someone killing a thousand cats. From your video, these are quieter. My ears will thank me when I get to board one.
I dont think the sound is the train. Its the tracks because I rode on both old and new. I even train spotted near Union City station and I saw the fleet of the future leaving and it made that same loud howling sound like the old one so the tracks, which are withering and old need to be changed.
Nice
That was so funny
Why does BART have station lighting over the tracks? That's unusual, I've never seen lighting over the track bed at stations.
Yancey Zimmerman too slow down or stop or go .
Well one: All trains including the old fleet, Stops and starts back up by themselves at stops. Also all the original stations where designed by collage students so idk It’s basically whatever they where thinking I guess...
The trains now have additional announcements, which include the line and destination.
Hmm looks like the train was in manual control this time
Good Train Ride.
Nice, but why choose the color scheme of the Seattle Seahawks?
That's a good question. You can ask BART about it.
This is better than the train I was on today
It's All Automated
Perhaps they will be not unbelievably shrill in the tunnels and under the bay. They'll be carved up and vandalized in no time. Try not to look scared as you get sized up by the scum.
What company made VTA light rail trains?
Kinki Sharyo
