This is the watch my dad has had on his wrist for the last 20+ years, throughout my childhood. we both made use of it while diving.
about two years ago, he thought he lost it and he really missed it. eventually, we both bought a Tissot Sea-Touch for a very good price. it also has a depth gauge and much more, so it seemed like a good replacement. A few months later, he found the Citizen in his laptop bag and has been wearing it mostly as a beater watch now.
It was a year before he lost the watch that I started to appriciate watches, so I started to care about his citizen and I was really happy that he had found that watch again, as I really saw it as a part of him when i was growing up.

Cool watch. I agree, I’ve always liked this one. Found a full kit one in basically new condition for $300. Bought it and love it. Very unique. Thanks for your content.

As a diver I’d have to say these Citizen watches are pretty common to me. They were quite common years ago, not so much anymore that dive computers have made them obsolete. As for this exact watch- 230ft is extremely deep. That is beyond recreational dive limits. The max depth for recreational diving is 135ft. The previous owner must have been a commercial diver if that logged dive is accurate.

It could also be that they did a battery change with gasket replacement and they water tested it to 230ft. But you are right 230ft is not recreational I have gone to 150ft and didn't feel that safe anymore lol

    • @andykoops3213

It was 23.0ft - no decimal point

thats the water pressure test on the watch, down to 230ft and back up in 5 mins, dive started at 11.25am and finished at 11.31am

Great video I bought mine 20 years ago and it still looks and works fine. This is a great dive watch as of 2021 eBay is still selling them for $300+ I don't dive anymore but still get compliments on it. I bought mine from a dive shop in las vegas which has since gone out of bizz many years ago. I've also been to marathon key and yes they sold them their also...I too was one of those Rolex guys still am but I love wearing this watch when I go fishing or boating at the lake in lake havasu city az.

Don't underestimate this watch, I'm a Commercial Diver & PADI Instructor, I've had one for many years, it stands as an excellent dive computer, I still use mine as a backup. This will warn you of fast ascents & will be required in the event of dive accidents.

When I just got scuba certified in Dec, my instructor wore this in addition to his dive computer. It had been on every dive with him all over the world since he bought it ages ago. Very cool watch!

I’ve had mine for about 20 years and it’s been a champ. I want to say it’s seen quite a few thousand dives. I used to dive between 4-5 times a DAY. Six days a week and I have to say, it’s been a beast. I mostly wear it just to tell time now :0). Of course at this point I replaced the battery and I have an err/time issue with it but it doesn’t seem to hender anything. Love the thing. I ended up with GMT Master 2 and still wear my Aqualand.

I have this watch and my funny story with it I bought it new and used it diving then about 3 years later it started to flash low battery and I couldn't use the dive functions until it was replaced. I decided to wait until it fully died. Fast forward to 15 years later and finally the battery died LoL. I bought mine from a jewelry store that carried the brand. Back in the 90's dive watches were really a hot item.

First time I saw this watch was in Guam 1996-97. My scuba instructor at the time had it and I ended up getting one later on after I became instructor. It kept pretty accurate depth readings and served as backup to the dive computer or depth gauge.
There were 2 models and one of them had a rapid ascent alarm set up for 60 ft per minute and the other for 30ft per minute which buzzed all the time while coming up. Good find and enjoyable. Btw citizen also had other similar models that had analog hands mixed with digital and even a titanium one. I am not sure of this but there were 4 models D201 and D202 one metric (meters) and one imperial (ft) and with the 60fpm alarm and the D207-208 which are 30fpm alarm plus 207 metric and 208 is imperial.
Watch also works for snorkeling and free diving. Have fun!

There is no doubt the digital dive watch is more useful, practical and smarter than the typical mechanical/auto desk diver which is nigh on 70 years old now. I didn't know of this Aqualands existence. Instead, I purchased a new PYLE for $125 from Amazon because I felt it to be the future for committed though Average Joe recreational divers. Many thanks, Rob for widening the breath of my horological knowledge.

I have 2 of these watches as well, purchased in 1994 for the wife and i. As stated, not great for night time as the light is minimal at best. Still dive on occasion and this watch still goes with me. The bands are soft rubber and have had to have replaced 1 time. But they are stylish, which is what drew me to them in the first place. About to have them sent out for service (battery/seal) replacement in preparation for a diving trip in May.

@@dvpdvp9790 The key is making sure you take a pic of the insides to make sure you get the film back in the right place. The clip took some working. It was a pain in the butt. Not a great design. Also the rubber seal is super thin and tends to bunch up when you over tighten.
