- Tomedelic1 recods a Ford Torino GT making a huge burnout, leaving Borderrun 2014 in style. This V8 big block was making a claimed 700HP. Creating some massive smokey burnouts during the entire day at Borderrun 2014. More images of this event including the massive burnout here: www.trackandtuner.com/article/...

That's the Mildest Sounding 700HP ever.
@silverbird58 About 350 crank if he is lucky.
They measure Hp in Km maybe?
Yea, if that has 700 hp, i'm frickin Santa Claus....no cam, no blower, or turbo.....he's on the good crack...
And like you would know anything about cars?
Sounds like a 302 out of a 1980 mustang
I'm becoming a Ford guy... a black on black 700hp Torino... Damn.🤩👍💪💯
Nothing beats old skool muscle.
Dont think that Torino makes 700hp but its such a beauty.
The word "Massive" was a little bit of a stretch for the amount of burnout that took place in this video.
And the 700 hp.
Massive burn out with a 700 horsepower engine? More like a stock 390 which was a good engine. If this car actually had 700 horsepower you wouldn't need to power break it for a burnout.
Maybe he just didnt lay into the gas pedal. Such a Rare item, I would feather it too.
Man. I got so much love for '68 Fairlanes and Torinos. Fucking wicked cars.
Late 60s to early 70s was, in my opinion, the best era for muscle/pony cars
+timothytt547 early 60s were great also.
My 67 Fairlane is pretty badass
0:15 PORN ON WHEELS for me best looking car ever built
More like a thousand horsepower. Seee all that smoke. That’s concrete. Man,what a smoke show
He just held heavy on the break and throttled it wide open with the 3 speed auto. It ran through the first 2 gears quickly and kind of bogged on 3rd. It's hard to tell when it could make considering overcoming the brakes and not spinning longer in lower gears to make the tires slip easier. I can see near 700 horsepower being possible if it didn't have a line lock(which it appeared to have) and tall rear differential gearing. If it had anywhere near it's claimed output it could've been displayed better.
Very cool car but at first I was thinking, "Don't be an ass and do a burnout on the bricks!" That's just being inconsiderate and is how you get told to not come back.
I love how people judge HPs by watching a video of a burnout without any idea of how much the driver is pushing.
Especially when they are power braking.
Glad you are enjoying common sense from people with some knowledge of cars
One of the locals here has Monte with an honest 500hp SBC in it and spins his big fat M/T cheater slicks for half a block no problem without power braking,
STFU
A naturally aspirated 700 horsepower engine and that naturally aspirated engine sound nothing alike! Maybe to you it seems like big power lol the starter on my Chevelle has more power than that Torino!
wow is aaaaaaaaaa beautiful, no word for describe
That car is beautiful.
Pure American horsepower on dispoay. Love it.
That sounded nice....
Many reactions and most of them are very correct. Tomedelic filmed this day and posted it without ever spoken to the car owner, so his text is his and most likely someone told him 700HP. Kudos for capturing these brief moments during a whole day driving.
It is correct that such a car is very unusual in Europe and there for unknown. It's an original 1969 Ford Torino GT 428 Cobra Jet. A middle-rough cam. exhaust ending before the rear axle makes car alarms go off just by driving past them, so it leaves an impression and leads to speculation.
The reply of +1951RKP one month ago (December) is also very correct. These cars dominated the nascar races and their factory stated horsepower were lower than their actual output. (as the Muscle cars got more and more HP, getting insureance to these Muscle cars became more difficult.).
Specs during that day: original 428CJ completely rebuilt by Dymotrack, complete Edelbrock RPM heads&intake, forged pistons, middle-rough cam. The carb's first trap opened up to 70%. The carbs second trap didn't open at all. A dyno run a day before showed that broken carb and measured this cripple Torino @ 306hp. Yes, it has a line lock and Burn-outs were forbidden that day on a 400euro fine.
Current setup in progress: Gearvendor overdrive added to 3 speed C6, Procharger D1SC compleet set, new blow trough carb,-), Water-Methanol injection, new headers & stainless steel exhaust. It will be ready in March or in May at the latest.
According to Procharger their D1SC in combination to 428CJ should produce 960HP.
The Water-Methanol injection does add more power, still here it is intended to prevent detonation. Our petrol has 95 or 98 octane, but we have very few petrol stations that have 102octane.
But it doesn't make sense to go all out to 900-1000HP as such a 47 year old car deserves to be ridden in the year 2050 and beyound.
Can/will it make 700? Easily.
(if you consider the above "easy")
+Torino You are correct. Loved your car and the sound to bad that during Borderrun 2015 we couldn't see more of it. When it is finished we would love to do a follow up video. enjoy the car and built.
+Tomedelic1 Hopefully March 27th for a first testrun during Borderrun
Great think we will be there too. Otherwise we might meet up quicker. Hope all goes well with the build.
+Torino Go turbo not procharger, youll thank me.

+PilgrimTitan (y) Do you have more spec's on this mustang? thx
Wow nice I want to Race Now.
yes put it in my collection
love that Ford.
So badass!! Probably just burned up 50 bucks worth of tire there!!
Nice car! 700 hp not at chance!
Beautiful body style
SWEET! LOVE IT! 1980 MY FRIEND HAD A RED 69, CAMMED UP 289, TOP LOADER 4 SPEED. HE HAD THE OL TRUSH SIDEPIPES ON IT. AFTER BOUT 2YRS HE WRAPPED IT AROUND A TREE ON A SLICK ROAD. TOTALED.
Oh wow! thats crap hope he is well after that
He was ok. Just broken hearted, he loved that torino.
@@mikeking9777 good to hear that. Yeah classic cars are just more emotional.
No more then 300hp for sure
I had a 69 torino gt in 78. Luckily my uncle worked at tire place and would save me two used tires which I would install every Friday after work. By Monday morning I was running on maypops until the end of the week.
To copy a earlier posted reaction:

We will shoot another video with the full power.
Definitely not a 700 HP motor. I give it 400 tops. My first car was a Torino just like that.
I once owned a 69 Cobra Jet Torino. Back in the day Ford advertised it as 335 HP, but I think actual HP was about 360. The car was pretty fast, but far from King of the Road. That was a very unimpressive burnout for 700 HP. If it really had that much HP, there'd be no need to stand on the brakes to get the back wheels loose. Nice car, but not 700 HP. Not close
My first car was a 1968 Ford Torino. They were not hatchback, they had a trunk. To clean the rear window from the inside, you had to bend over backwards over the rear seat to clean it.
700hp? Right
Had this car but 1 year older. 68 GT. The inner door panels said GRAN TOURIN.
When Lincoln decides to upgrade his car.
If that car is above stock hp, I'd be surprised!
@mark rylander Chrysler Town&Country!!!
I was being sarcastic, my daily driver is a crew f250 4x4 and I own a 1980 C10 prostreeted stepside, im building a new 468 blower motor as we speak, that car is nowhere near 700hp!
nou 700 pk heb zwaar mn twijfels.heb zo'n zelfde gehad n 390 cu met 325 hp standaard 1968.
posi with a line lock and thats it?
The stock 428 CJ has 410 hp and not 335 as advertised . The right cam can add 50hp along with adjustable rockers a good duel point and some carb jetting . I have seen too many take away hp with the wrong combination .
No its 335 hence it has 260 wheel horsepower
@@ldioticnuzhen99 The many improvements over the 360 hp 1966 P.I. engine would go along with the NHRA rating of the 428CJ engines . How can you explain the high torque rating having 335 hp ?
@@edge2sword186 go tell your daddy
@@ldioticnuzhen99 You don't realize there is a formula we go by that figures in torque cubic inches and a number we multiply by that gives you a ballpark of what the engine dyno will read with an engine . The same year 390 GT was rated at 335 hp 427 torque .

power break burn out
I have a regional 428 Super Cobra that's been in my family for years that was a special daughter car it was so fast it would break motor mounts and U bolts on the rear end my brother got any and took it down the road and stopped it and laid to block marks all the way down the street and flipped it over three times and split it down the road on top he said I'm sending it to the junkyard it almost killed me but then I got it from him and I still got it today he is a brand new 428 Cobra Jet limited edition with a ABX cam the car was the fastest Cobra ever seen
nah that thing is no 700HP
That was something lol
Cam lope says maybe 350 HP.
What engine are Ford using in NASCAR?
Currently it is the FR9, a purpose built to nascar requirements cam in block overheard valve V8 of just over 5.7L. The previous main engines Ford has used starting in the 50's were the FE big block V8 (427 etc), then the cleveland type 5.7L small block.
But he had to power brake it to get them to spin, maybe 300 hp
"massive"
That was massive ..wow fool
Can someone tell me the year
Has to be a 68 or 69. Judging by the grille if correct for the car it is probably a 69.
325 HP. Tops.
may we have some details on the engine perhaps? I have one of these, running a stroked 445 inch FE with some very nice parts and mine can only muster 470hp. 700 is a big number, and would take some real skill to get from any engine that would have been in that car originally. not that I know much, but the sound of it alone would suggest a number a lot lower than that. nice car all the same. but then I would say that... ;-)
torino390 , yup, that number is drastically over stated, so was the burnout. Nice ride but really is CLICK BAIT... 470HP/390? SWEEET. You'd clean this dudes clock. My guess is he's around 150-200HP less than you. That was a carb loading up from not being warmed up and not a cam causing that rough idle. I call "BULLSHIT", and a thumbs down. Not for the car, but for the misrepresentation. "CLICK BAIT"
455 making 470hp is pretty good. Sounds like your Torino is sweet.
I've got a '69 with a Ford Racing 427 and FAS fuel injection (not the original 351). It makes a little over 500hp.
I think 700hp in one of these cars is doable with a supercharger, but I think would be tough to get if you want to keep the motor naturally aspirated! I agree, I don't think that car is putting out 700ho, though.
Sounds like a factory 375 horse to me
drop the 700 hp title and i enjoy the video cause i love old cars. like someone said maybe 225-250 hp
Droom verder met je 700 pk
that is not 700 hp
Huzzah
700 divided by 2. And the smoke is coming from the leaking exhaust. Huhuhhuhuhuhuhuhu.... Ha Hah! Them cracked hyenas are minty.
Beautiful car and I appreciate you sharing with us, but that is not 700 horsepower.
Дед показывает как надо
'MERICA!!!
roooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........
Sounds like it shifted into 3rd, perhaps he should have held it in a lower gear, would have been more impressive.
I THINK THE BLAU PORSCHE CARRERA IS THE REAL BURNER.....
The only real bad ass car there is the Ford Torino. The rest are Boujie Boutique cars.
700 f****** horsepower and that's all that junk box could do
After watching a '96 383 stroker Impala SS smoke the tires for 3 minutes until the tires blow and the engine catches fire, I can't call this a massive burnout. More of a drawn-out chirp, really.
ua-cam.com/video/lisMu46YPXQ/v-deo.html
700 HP MY ASS BRAH !!.. maybe 425-450 HP at best.. who puts 225/15/65 tires on a car with "700" HP..??!!
More like 350 HP…Maybe!
massive burnout....lol....
If thats 700hp I'm chinese
Nǐ hǎo
Lol, it's a Tochino
I like the Torino more than the mustang
all these motor building experts. you cannot judge horsepower by sound. there is a little saying we draggers use. "all muscle no hustle". these are for the cars that sound fast but arent.
That’s your idea of MASSIVE??? Wooow! He stopped and used a line loc and ...and made th-th the bicycle width tires spin!! OH MY! It must have 700hp! You might want to stop hanging around 4 cylinder Civics and Camry’s that have a plug wire disconnected.
What you saw was a stock 351 Torino with the line loc still engaged when the transmission shifted to third the rpms on the lack of power motor started to drop so fast he released the line loc and got off the gas before it stalled out. A Hellcat has 700hp and will spin tires twice that width out of sight without trying and without a line loc. That’s what 700 hp looks like.
far from 700hp
Right on the downside from that number, quite a ways in my opinion
Thats maybe 400hp
massive? huge? lol that was a 2 second burnout
+Kevlor search "swift charger burnout" he doesn't succeed at 1st but he dusts his self off and tries again. does a massive burnout. I promise u wont be disappointed.
Torino > Chevelle and you can’t change my mind
That Porsche GT though !!!
More like 220hp...
What is the big deal with burnouts? I can see a short burnout to heat the tires up before a drag but other than that, its just worthless
oviesly this bloke doesn't know what Summernats is
450 tops.. not 700
thats not a massive burn out sorry
Maybe 300 HP ! Obvious you haven't been around the race track to see and hear cars that really do make 700 HP. I doubt this car even makes 250 to be honest.
It's torque that creates a burnout and big cams that make it rumble loud.
Winston Basset ---Thanks Winston. I've only been professionally drag racing since 1965 and even remember these Torino's when they were on the showroon floors. They slipped in a very limited edition off the 428 Cobra Jets in mid 1968 then made them in abundance in 69. Even one of these with a 302 2 barrel carb could easily be power braked and do this burn out especially on a old dusty asphalt road. This one does at least have positive traction but still a very easy task on that kind of road surface. This is a beautiful car and the 428CJ was the most powerful engine offered in this model and they would produce a honest 350 horsepower. This motor is very mild I would even say if it's not stock it's very close. I raced the motors from 1968 until the mid 70's. I'm talking NHRA Super Stock at the drag strip only and 550 horsepower in those days was pretty max for these motors. I assure this thing produces no where near the power our race motors did. Now days some of the Super Stock guys probably do push over 650 but this motor is no where close to those guys. If you truly want to video 700 plus horsepower cars that can do it without turbo's, superchargers or nitrous got to a NHRA sanctioned national event. Listen to what those cars sound and run like then compare that to this car. Can you say day and night difference.
+1951RKP , The 390 GT engines produced from 320- 335 horsepower bone stock, depending on the year. The 428CJ was underrated at 335 horsepower. CJ's in stock form have dyno tested at 420-450 horsepower.
FRLN500 --- The 390's were rated at 320-335 from the factory. Put those motors on a dyno and you would see that was a exaggerated rating. Ford later rated the 428CJ at 335 horse and the CJ motor's not only had the cubic inch advantage they had much superior heads, camshaft, intake manifold and carburetor than the 390's did. So why were they rated at the same power ? Had to do with insurance and NHRA and AHRA class racing. AHRA classed their stock classes by factory horsepower ratings. That meant the 383 Mopars which came with the same horsepower rating as the 428CJ in this era ran the same class. The Ford's dominated those classes. When you allow yourself to get caught up in factory horsepower ratings back in these days and assume they are accurate you will get yourself in trouble. Racers knew that and used those underrated numbers of the 428CJ to their advantage. The Ford 390's on the average could not run with Mopars 383's. Basically the 390 was a slug and rarely desirable by serious racers. The 428CJ motors were over achievers in NHRA racings Stock and Super Stock classes back then and still today. Who knows what motor is in the car in this video but whatever it has it's weak at best. Just a nice car doing what any of these would do even with a 302 CI motor and burn rubber when power braked. Doesn't mean a thing other than for those who thinks that means it's badass. Today I'm sure their are some NHRA Super Stock racers who have got well over 600 horsepower out of these motors. But, it's taken them 35 plus years of time consuming research and development plus endless hours of race track testing to get these cars to run like they do. You can bet the front running ones aren't sharing what they learned with anyone. I owned and raced many different combinations of the FE motors from the mid 60's until the late 70's. Had a rare 1969 Torino with a 428CJ. A rare 1969 GT Mustang with a 428CJ. Most of the 428CJ Mustangs were Mach1's. In that same Mustang we also ran 427 medium riser. 427 High Riser and 427 tunnel port. Loved these motors but serious parts became hard to find and expensive when you did find them so we shut it down and started racing Chevy's.
It's a reasonable statement going from the sound. It is crisp though. That cripness is a good indicator of performance.
Without the crisp sound motors are always 'soft'.
nice car - but line lock burnouts? -my moms car can do that. jus sayin
Your mom is bad ass then :)
Why not? If you have it use it.
Beautiful car, so much ability wasted being drivin' like a grandma....
You call that a burnout??
Get off my lawn
what's with you foreigners and your outrageous horsepower claims?
i'm disappointed

+gta kingg search "swift charger burnout" he doesn't succeed at 1st but he dusts his self off and tries again. does a massive burnout. I promise u wont be disappointed.
My FE 390 Thunderbird can do this. This definitely isn't 700 hp. Beautiful car though..
700 hp my ass..
Burning out on their brickwork?.... Juvenile.
Obviously don't know what a massive burnout is...
Maybe 300hp nice try
if thats 700hp i'm fuck'n a millionaire >< and massive burnout, the lil girls foot slip off the pedal? >< please nice looking car though, too bad it seems like a tool owns it

300hp torino does piss weak pathetic burnout would be more accurate
I agree 👍
massive burnout!!!??? ummmm more like tiny ass crap burnout.
