hey, sis!! let's chat -- what is YOUR takeaway from Esther chapter 2? it's always amazing to see how God speaks to us differently through the same verses.
For me, like I mentioned, its verse 15. Esther's FAVOR opened up so many doors for her and I view it as God's hand on her, preparing her to have the influenced necessary for her to complete her ultimate mission (saving the entire Jewish population). This concept of favor really just spoke to my heart, definitely convicted me to remember that wherever i experience "favor" from God, it's not because of me but because of what God wants accomplish through me. God is good!!

this undeserved favor upon her shows me another thing. She was serving a purpose, yea, but God just didn't use her, but put her in a place of honor before man. Like, ok you do need to sacrifice some things of your life for a while to serve not your interests but others, BUT, God will ALSO put you in a good place, never leaving your own needs behind. He gave her a husband and a crown!

@@polthatyWhat a great point! Not only did God favor touch her life due to walking in her purpose, but He provided her with what she needed - wow what a good Father!

My main takeaway is that Esther never questioned the favor that was blessed upon her. When she accelerated past the other women to become Queen, she never said that she wasn't ready or that she needed more time. When she was called, she moved faithfully. This resonates heavily with me as I'm someone who is overcoming imposter syndrome. I have spent up to 5 years delaying God's advancement over my creative outlet because I thought I wasn't ready or that I didn't have enough experience as a photographer/visual artist to do certain things or be in certain spaces. Esther was supposed to meet the King on month 12, and by month 10 God blessed Esther with favor to be accelerated to Queen.

My takeaway from Esther is that God choose whom He pleases, to accomplish His will. We must stay humble, open and ready. Because He could move us from the background to the forefront at anytime. Thanks for another amazing Bible study.

For me what I resonated with me was chapter 2 verse 9 " _he moved her and her maids in to the best place in the harem"_ Esther was placed in the BEST place, a place where the other concubines can only dream of, God had prepared this place JUST for her and even gave her maids that will aid and assist her with all that she needs. God is telling me that he wants me in the best place, in the best rooms with the best opportunities and he will bring the right people, who love, care and support me to help in my life journey. Esther had no clue how this place looked like but God did! which also shows me that we haven't even thought or dreamed of all the blessings and opportunities and places that God wants for us, just trust and keep your eyes on him! 💞

Verse 7 stood out to me. I realized that Esther had lost both her guardians but gained Mordecai in the process. It made me think that perhaps God sometimes takes people out of your life and adds people to it for a reason. Sometimes we get angry when someone lives or dies but this chapter gave me a different outlook. You are meant to walk certain phases of your life with someone and other times you might have to walk it alone. It tells me to trust the process.

Sis! Your comment is right on time. I could actually cry! As I’m going through a break up of 8 years with 2 Babies. I was fine at first after therapy but for some reason everything that’s happening now is breaking me down! The amount of tears I shed in these past 2 months and it’s been a whole year is crazy! I literally just want God to take it away and help me get through this. I’m ready to be over it. I feel like it’s just blow after blow!

Two things stood out to me. First, favour as you spoke about. When I read it I felt very jealous of Esther because I felt like I wasn't as favoured as she is. I am praying through this, God is helping me through this mindset. Second, Mordicai. He really just stands out to me as a man of godly character, the very fact that he accepted Esther as his is very exemplary, not many people are willing to do this family or not. Also, he was intentional about Esther, I feel like Mordicai models God's love for his children in his intentionality. He was at that gate for one reason only, to check up on Esther. To see how she was faring, to know how she was doing, I find that commendable. It was only because he was there that he heard the plot against the king and he could stop it. Imagine if he wasn't as diligent, all these things would have never happened. Not to spoil but the entire plot of Esther hinged on this one event. His one day when he was at the right place at the right time. Also, he did something about what he heard, and it made me question what I would do in his position, I hope I would have done the same but I'm NOT SURE.
Cant leave without talking about how Esther and these virgins spent one year enjoying beauty treatments, talk about soft life.

Verse 10 STOOK OUT to me!!!!! Esther did not reveal her family background to anyone, because Mordecai told her not to! That shows me that “Obedience is greater than sacrifice!” As well as, “Train a child up they way they shall go and they shall not depart!” That moved me as a single mom of two boys. I want to get us baptized and live by the word so they can see God is all doing! As well as, being obedient to God will give you joy and an amazing everlasting love!

Thank You Melody for this amazing bible study. My takeaway was similar to yours, God is speaking on how I have received favor. He is asking me to check my heart posture and understand that God is using me. I have favor over my life all through the LORD. He is showing me to be humble and to hold my positions and tongue. Not to be hasty, because it took Esther over a 12 month period to receive her status as Queen. I am loved by many and I am favored over many but it is all to put be in the position to fulfill God’s will in due time.
This elevates my thinking in situations. It shows me that I need to watch and guard my heart. It shows that I need to be mindful of my words and attitudes. It shows me that I need to show up in God’s light and I need to be aware of His purpose for me.
I have a lot of influence and favor over my life in a lot of areas (career, social media, finances, relationships, etc.), this message helps me to understand that the favor in these areas is not for me, it’s for GOD. I am being favored for His purpose and no I wont always have to answer to what that looks like or the end goal but I must strive and pray to remain humble and work for the good of the LORD.

Thinking about what could happen if Esther had revealed her family background is so sad. No matter how beautiful she is, she could have been sent away and never become queen, or worse killed. It shows how obedience is so important even if it seems something not important or worth listening to.

Thank you; the relationship between Mordecai (adopted dad/uncle) and Esther (adopted daughter/niece) is so beautiful; the obedience of Esther to her uncle is a glimpse of unknown (huge) blessings we too can receive thru obedience with our Father above -and as we know, she was such a blessing to her people (not just herself) also; relationship, obedience, love -all key factors in living a successful Christian life. Thanks Melody

I have always struggled with "how to start a bible study" and this is perfect and so so so helpful. I like how your take away was that our favor may be something deeper and it is important to have guidance from God to be His hands and feet in that situation. When there is favor, there is a reverence and I think it is important to pause and really ask God how you can be used in that situation. :)

What I got from this chapter was submission and obedience. Throughout the chapter Ester follows wise council and direction which results in her becoming queen and having favor not only for herself but for her people. Surrendering, submission, and obedience aligns you to God’s will and when you are in God’s will there is peace and favor.

Thank you so much for making these two bible studies on Esther and showing how useful the soap method is. I really hope you will continue this series. I took away a lot from this chapter. For starters I noticed that the king's anger wasn't Godly as a he got extremely angry, didn't try to be understanding and just divorced Queen Vashti; husbands should be understanding and love their wives with all of their heart. On the other hand, queen Vashti should have respected and submitted to her husband. Another takeaway is that we should wait until marriage as it is and was seen as a qualification of a good wife. Mordecai adopted Esther and him doing that shows that adoption is a good thing and that if we can we should adopt/help orphans. People loved Esther for her beauty, humility, and obedience. Esther was beautiful and saw the importance of taking care of herself as she participated in the year-long beautification process. Esther was humble with her actions towards others and didn't take advantage of her favour and beauty. Esther was always obedient to Mordecai, the Eunichs, and the king; because of her obedience, blessings were crowned on her. All in all being an obedient, faithful, and humble woman of God is essential for living a blessed life.

    Good afternoon Mrs. Melody Alisha:
I hope this comment finds you and your family doing well, blessed, and staying safe. I am doing well.
In today's Esther 2 reading, my takeaway is that no matter what I encounter or what people spitefully use and plot to kill, steal, and destroy me will not prosper. As long as I seek first the kingdom of Heavenly Father by devoting my time to Him in prayer that's all that matters. He already knows what will happen. He is waiting on me to come to Him in prayer and He will resolve whatever the situation maybe. Life is a learning lesson. I am fighting through the faith daily with my sword 🗡️ in my hands against Satan, his co-consiprators, and other negative spirits. My life is not in my control it is in Heavenly Father's total control! This is confirmation from my devotional reading today. Thank you Father! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 This Too Will Pass!! 👆🏽🙌🏽😇🙏🏽💪🏽
Thank you, my sister in Christ, for this awesome devotion, providing the Notion Bible template, and discussion! 🤗🤗🤗 I truly am learning how to navigate Notion.
Have a blessed week! I love 💞 you more!

OK I’m not tripping so 12 months literally of beautifying +6 months of whatever and it literally took for a year plus for the wives to get ready to meet the king that is crazy. I didn’t expect that. This reminds me of something I heard this lady, talking about of the God putting her through the beautification season of her life , becoming more of a Godly woman. God is setting her up and beautifying her to be a different type of woman that represents God‘s love, and it’s crazy cause I feel like I’m going through the same season right now. And also This goes to show that as God‘s child, we are the light in the darkness, and we will shine through any darkness, and people will be able to see it in us, and we will be treated differently than others, and God will always come through with the best for us, his children.

Hi Melody, what stood out to me was the fact that sometimes God uses people to spur us in the right direction and all we need do is be obedient and adhere to his will, just like he used Mordecai and Hegai to spur Esther in the right path and thankfully she also obeyed and won even more favour.

What stood out to me was just how long the process of Esther becoming a queen was - she was at court for a year before even having an audience with the King! For me it seemed to be a reminder, that sometimes God's plan takes time, and we need to stay patient and humble and trust that what is to come was meant to. I also thought similarly to your ideas of favour

First, thank you for doing these BSWM series because i’ve always had trouble really understanding the bible and you’ve introduced me to a method i’ve never heard (S.O.A.P). i used it for ch. 2 and i’ve felt a deeper and greater understanding.
Second, my take away from ch. 2 was how much favor Esther was receiving from left and right. it was so unsolicited and seemed to be coming from her outward appearance; she outwardly pleased man. the Lord brought 1 Sam. 16:7 to mind when thinking on this. God knew her inwardly (her background, life, nationality, heart) and in knowing her deeply, He chose her to for a position that would fulfill His will. Her background and upbringing was not one that would foreshadow her becoming queen. I admire how God demonstrated the truth of Him “not calling the qualified but qualifying the called.”
The holy spirit even brought Matt. verse 20:16 to mind when Jesus said “the last will be first and the first will be last.” it calls for humility because typically those who are first and even those who are chosen can be operating out of pride. and God can’t work with pride but He can work with humility.

My take away from this was definitely the favor of God. This was something that I hadn’t really focused on with my relationship with Him, and I’m glad that I watched this because I needed it. All his favor is for His will. Everything that happens to me is for *His will* and I’m open to banking on that. The lesson I took away from this lesson was understanding how God can put us in a certain position in order to satisfy a secret favour desire he has for us. I have also learnt to look at situations with more detail and attention looking for ways that God could be passively asking me to do something for him and not doubting what he can achieve through me as it is probably better than anything I could think of myself. Thanks soo much for this amazing Bible study I will be back for chapter 3!

I was also feeling that just like Esther God will place blessings or favours on us just like he did with Esther, I feel that i just need to let go and allow God to be in the driving seat, allow him to use me and Guide me in his will and not mine. being a military family we move around alot and always ask god to place me where he can use me and i have never not had a job, but its only been now that i can see why he placed me in those jobs, its only looking back now that I can see how God moved. Its crazy. God will always be in control

It's so interesting that God/His name is not mentioned in Esther, but shows instead two Jews, Mordecai and niece Esther maintaining their faith in God that good will be held up through the favor found in Esther. She obviously had many gifts when what she spoke was in humility and respect toward others, especially the King. God's discernment in her made her realize great potential was before her, in her Godly personality. I would love to have met Esther.

My take away from this is that people around Esther were in awe and favor her outer appearance and her beauty yet there was so much more to her auch as patience and obisence. The fact that so much time was spent by the king on beauty treatment for the women yet Esther was naturally favor. God had something in her plans juat as he has something waiting for me. The outer is what tye world sees firat yet its my inner beauty and my praise and appreciation to being who God wanta me to be that will shine the brighest.... I circled immediately alao in the text because alot of the time we are waiting but when its is our turn we will immediately see favor. My takeaway from this is that in all God is sovereign. Everything is placed in order to work his purpose, that Esther would be placed in a position without prejudice, find favour with all those that she interacts with for what is to come. This shows me that God is knows the end from the beginning and so I should not be afraid to trust him. So I try...

my takeaway would have to be that even though esther was taken to a higher place, with a change in background, she still remained faithful to the rules given to her by mordecai, her father. i think it's somewhat of a parallel/juxtaposition to how we should treat our blessings from God, but also remaining faithful and disciplined to the will and purpose He's set out for us.

I can gather Esther received favor because she was obedient...she was obedient to her uncle. And in being obedient she was blessed.

In the same way we aren’t meant to question God’s favor we also cannot question God when He gives the opposite. Esther rose from the fall of Vashti. Imagine what Vashti felt. Everything was taken from her and she was banished for seemingly something very light and beyond her power. Sometimes you’re Esther and sometimes you’re Vashti. Ask Job
