I’m a big fan of the Lamys. They come in lots of intense colors, are not too expensive, write well, have a nice fine 1.1 italic (it seems 1.1 mm means different things to different nib manufacturers), and the nibs are swappable. I got one of the Kaweco pistons and filled it with Sheaffer Coastal Blue. So far, smooth sailing. It’s probably a good thing that I placed my recent Atlas order before watching this video or I’d’ve added those LT inks. I wonder if all the fortunes for each ink colour in that series has the same fortune. Kudos to LT for explaining the Cat General myth. All inks made in homage to any kind of story should come with a synopsis - or a book. Nice haul, Mike!
Glad you haven't had any issues with your AL Piston! I had a whole bunch of things go weird with mine, but it's working great now. Don't order those LTB inks just yet, Ruth. ;-)
Cat General might be my favorite ink name of all time! Is the color a dupe for SBRE Brown (or maybe Diamine Ochre)? A quote I recently read by a commentor on YT that I think you'll enjoy: "The earth can't be flat! if it was, cats would have pushed everything off by now!!" Great unboxing as always! Thanks, Mike.
just about to watch the video, I would like to know where you got your glasses from. my husband loves orange and I think the glasses would like good on him too.
I got them from a great local eyeglass place called Oscar Oglethorpe. The brand is “WOOW Paris”, and the model might be “Call Me 2” but I’m not entirely sure.
Nice ink choices! I'm intrigued by the Piston AL Sport. Since the body is metal, I'm assuming it has a protective sleeve or coating on the inside so the ink doesn't react with the metal? It's very pretty, but I kinda like my clipless Sports. I look forward to seeing your review!
Nice unboxing. My Kaweco Ebonite Sport cost quite a bit more than the Sport Piston Filler kit. One thing you can do is use the cap to unscrew the blind cap and keep it captured when filling/re-filling the pen so it doesn't get lost by accident. As for the nibs, you can't use the regular Al Sport nibs in the Piston filler, it's a different design and it looks just a bit smaller for the Piston filler. It takes a 190 insert. I got a BB nib to swap out the Fine in mine in the near future. I'm not sure what the supply is like but good luck finding nibs if you have a mind to swap them.
The nibs are actually the same, but the nib unit, collar and feed are smaller. I’d do like that they’re selling extras, though. Makes it easy to just unscrew them and swap. Cool idea with the blind cap thing!
I would call that Lamy pink, and an ugly one at that, lol. The blue is pretty, though. As for the Kaweco Piston filler, if the finish is the slick anodized aluminum like the AL Golden Espresso, I’m not interested. I could purchase two Kaweco AL fountain pens for the $165 price. And lastly, I’m always afraid of losing a blind cap. Nice video!
Hi Mike- Nice unboxing and beautiful supplies from Atlas! Have a great week!
Thanks! You too!

@@inkdependence I remember that your Kaweco was being a pain. Didn't you get a new nib for it?
I shall hold off on the ink ordering!🫡

I think it's yellower than either of those, and the name is pretty awesome. Also: the bottle art.
Hahaha. That should convince even the hard-core flat earthers!
Bombax Ceba is a tree, commonly called the Cotton Tree, also Red Silk Cotton and other names. Love that color, one of the best oranges I've seen.
LTB makes some great inks!

I'm shocked you got 4 inks and not a single one is swampy green!
End of civilzation as we know it, Greg.
There was a swampy one I wanted, but it’s still sold out. 😆
@@inkdependence I feel better knowing that, Mike. 😉
I wish they'd do a piston Kaweco with any color but gold furniture!
True. They do have silver clips, so I hope to see those on future ones. I’m sure there will be lots of different colors of this pen.
