lol I do say it's still faster then most ICE in it's segment but when I do comparisons, or when I shop around, I want the best of everything for my money so it becomes a factor. How big of a factor is going to be different from person to person and I was very OK with it since I decided to buy this one instead of all the other options but it was part of the decision process as a con for me. I am always very thankful for your opinions and Thank you for watching my video.
@sprockkets the weight and size really plays a significant role but also how they tuned the equinox as well. You can see there is a deliberate attempt to tame the acceleration off the line
@awr2024 they do but they also go fast and It would be bias not to mention the differences between them. It's obviously not a deal breaker if I bought one...
Absolutely true! Rivian also doesn't have it. I'm not that surprised, however, because Tesla owners are more like a cult now than anything else and if you own a Tesla and say something negative about it.... I think they take your Tesla away.... Lol For Android users, there's really no issue except for the subscription fee which is annoying but with Google maps free for 8 years and you can play music via BT, I'm ok with it.
Congrats on your new purchase, man! Hope you get maximum value for your money! I'm subscribing to your channel right away for two main reasons: 1) EV content in sub-zero driving conditions. 2) "Small" youtubers often take their time to respond to comments/questions unlike some of the big youtubers! IIHS just published its 2024 safety ranking and the Subaru Solterra got a Top Safety Pick Plus rating in the small SUV EV category. Are you able to do a video comparing the features between the Equinox EV and the Solterra? Also, please share your experience so far with the heat pump in remote start mode. Thanks!
Thank you, I appreciate your subscription and my track record for replying to comments is at 100% thus far, even when I don't like the comment and without using AI reply which a lot of UA-camrs use. I have not gotten to drive the Solterra yet since Subaru has not yet lent me any press vehicles but I did drive the bZ4X for a week and lets face it, the internal workings are the same. I am not surprised the Solterra received a top safety pick and it might have to do with how 'light' it is comparatively to other EVS by at least 200lbs which also makes it a very efficient EV but the range is slightly less. Being an EV, most focus on range and not efficiency because electricity does not cost as much as gas currently but I did like the bZ4X and considered buying it, however the price point at the time was more and I did not like the 1 pedal drive or location of the driver cluster.
@@adstix it works extremely well so far. For my ICE vehicle I would need to run it 30 minutes to warm up the air and with my Equinox, less than 5 minutes needed. The app is a bit frustrating because it wasn't opening on a couple of occasions but the Fob has a remote start button and that works as expected. I just can't start the car from across town with the fob which is fine by me. I honestly prefer having an EV in winter than an ICE
I like both but I’d go for auto high beams as they have made my high beams more useful so I use them more whereas the rain sensing wipers I have are convenient, but I did just as well without them. I’ve driven the Blazer EV, the Prologue and the Equinox EV and I’d say I liked the Equinox best as the size felt more like what I’m used to and the horsepower to weight ration is the best. It was also the 2025 so a scooch more horsepower. But although it was good, I’m with you, I want access to stupid horsepower now and then. Mostly I want to be able to pass very fast at on the freeway.
I really did like the Rain Sense feature on my Bolt EUV but I also like adaptive high beam headlights. I guess the high beam wins for me because I use high beams everyday. I really want both. My bolt was around 6 seconds and the equinox is around 6 seconds but with the bolt you really felt the acceleration off the line and it was a little loose. There both the same but I do miss the feeling.
I don't mind the auto high beam but sometimes I switch it to manual because it doesn't activate when I want it to but I understand that its because a house ahead has outdoor lights that can appear to be another vehicle and such. The Equinox is definitely being tamed on purpose but I want the ability to unleash the beast lol Thank you so much for your comment
I prefer auto high beam over rain sensing wiper. My top hate is not charging speed since i charge overnight at home. Unless long roadtrips a lot, I might hate it. I hate that i have to run wires for dashcam. I would have paid reasonable $100-300 one time fee (like paid for a dashcam) for surround vision recorder app. Also its own Spotify gets interrupted by phone's alert/sounds. Had to switch off phone's priority in the phone connection setting of the car.
I think we will start seeing some manufacturers do that with theft on the rise and the fact that Tesla has the sentry mode, however, I saw a video a while back saying sentry mode does drain the battery while parked overnight but while driving, that would be key! I had a dash cam installed on my previous vehicle but I haven't done it on this one because of the wires as you mentioned. This is kind of funny because I just got an email a couple of days ago from a dashcam company wanting to sponsor me but I don't do sponsors so.... they are called viofo... I am also not familiar with those
I think it must have to do with the provider they use. For the U.S. it's AT&T and for Canada it's Bell Mobility and it depends if they have towers in your area. For me, It works most of the time but I would say 20% of the time it doesn't connect and that's just annoying.
The only real rub of my 2RS is only the drivers seat is powered with no memory, they should both be powered with 4 setting memory that remembers your seat, mirrors and steering wheel settings.
They should and it's an option with the top package which I think is around 4k extra from the level 1 package but I think it should have been included with the RS which would separate it more to the LT.
On another note... How did you like Kent Hughes mid season press conference? He's lucky the boys turned things around in the last 10 games cause it would have been a different tone
An alternate theory is that the seat positioning should be fully manual. There is no reason to be paying for some electric motors that will die at some point and cost a big repair bill.

In Vancouver can't you just leave them on 24-7-365? :) :) :) They really should have a "lower than low beam" for the lights with wipers and there should be a way to turn them off. There are situations where you are driving east at sunset where the headlights can make a car harder to see.
The loss of connection seems to be UA-cam Music problem. I have that trouble on my Tesla. It loses connection when parked and I have to restart I. I also have Spotify which is much better at keeping it's connection.
No, on mine, it's the occasional drop of car connection not just YTM. It also happens in built up areas, so it's not a cell tower thing. But it happens so rarely I can live with it.
@ledzepandhabs I wonder what the cause of that is because you are not the only one. I'm not a connection specialist so this is out of my area of operations but I'm curious now since it happens to me as well
Rain sensor vs Auto high beam, definitely Rain Sensor Luckily the Blazer EV has both. But the rain sensor should be a very basic features, it has been around for at least 20 years
Oh I'm driving that next week so I will be doing a review and a comparison. I thought for sure most ppl would prefer rain sensing wipers but so far, more people like the auto hi-beam
A car shouldn't even have "drive modes". You had pedals under your feet and a wheel in your hands. If you slam down on the "go pedal" the message to the car is really clear. If you slam down on the brake the message is clear. On a bumpy road, it can easily work out what to do to keep the car going straight and the passengers comfortable. The rain sensing wipers is a feature that really should be standard on cars at this point. This is a thing that doesn't really cost much and more. The wet windscreen detector has an LED and a photocell in it and wires up to some pins on the computer. The 0-60 time is more than fast enough. What really matters is the 35MPH to freeway speed. Merging onto a freeway is the only place where you routinely need a bunch of power. Did the thing come with a spare tire? Without a spare, you can find your self stranded too easily. I don't need a car the reproduce the stuff my cellphone can do. Navigation and hotspots are not really needed. The effort should go into making other stuff really good instead. When driving, I prefer to put a local station on the radio. They can warn me if something bad is going on up ahead.
I was really happy reading your first sentenced because I have said this in a few of my videos, not this one however but I distinctly remember saying that about the Volvo EC40 which only has one drive mode for off road use and I said, "if you want to be economic, don't slam on the accelerator pedal, if you want sport mode, slam on it" . This vehicle has no issues merging on the highway (30-50 mph: 4.5 sec, 50-70 mph: 5.7 sec) It does NOT come with a spare tire as most EVs don't and that is because they would also need to supply a jack capable of lifting over 5000 lbs (the average spare jack can lift up to 2000lbs SWL Safe Working Load) and a floor jack is just too big hence why they come with a tire repair kit. For EVs, I would say the onboard system can do more than your cellphone as it also monitors the battery and plans your stops for charging ahead of time while providing estimates on time spent charging which makes your travel time estimate more accurate but ICE vehicles, I usually use my cell as well. I appreciate this comment very much, thank you for the insight and watching my channel.
The navigation in the Equinox is the very best in the business, it takes info from your phone and seamlessly integrates it with the onboard Nav. But the onboard nav includes all the vehicle info like battery status, range and estimated battery levels upon arrival, including all brands charge stops. This nav is so accurate its crazy. All the range anxiety shit is completely non existent.
@ledzepandhabs Absolutely! Sure in an ICE all that matters very little and I probably would go with just android auto but EVs are such a different thing and that is why I put more emphasis on the navigation systems when I review EVs and why regular reviewers just make mention of it. Once you drive an EV for longer than a day and road trip... You get it.
I thought I might hear you say that one of your annoyances is the fact that the gear shift is on the steering wheel...hate that and it truly is a deal-breaker sadly.
@@chathammkm it's not sorry lol. I find I can still shift with ease and without looking down which is what I'm looking for. It's essentially just an electric column shifter. What's not an annoyance for me, might be for you and vice versa, we all have different preferences and that's ok
It's not on the wheel, it's a stalk on the column, it's been the way for 15 years in my mercedes and in my opinion it is the very best location for it.
@@ledzepandhabs if you look around, a lot of brands are copying the location of this shifter such as the 2024 ID 4 went from the top of their gauge cluster to the column , the 2015 mustang Mach E from a center console wheel to a column shifter. It's ergonomic and intuitive
As an apple person not having CarPlay is a big thing for me, a small part of me doesn’t want to buy a gm ev because of it… it bugs me that I don’t have wireless CarPlay in my 2020 Equninox let alone not at all..
We each have features that we must have in our next vehicle and I know that is one that a lot of people have. On a totally unrelated side note..... Android is better :P lol
@@Outsider.Reviews hahaha I like both but at this point I’m too far deep in the apple ecosystem lol, I do like the look of the equinox ev compared to my 20 ICE Nox though, and it does have some cool options in comparison
@midnightmtb everything that is new will always look nicer... Well, except for the Cybertruck, that doesn't look nicer lol I do really enjoy my Equinox and the other day I charged it at home from 3% to 85% and it cost me 8$ which is why I went EV in the first place. Can't beat that
@ thanks for that info, I’ve been considering an EV for a while, while I have a full time job that pays well, I still do side gigs like uber and SkipTheDishes and an EV makes perfect sense for that aspect, when you refer to pricing your referring to CAD? I think I remember in your first video on the Nox you mentioned you were in Quebec City (I feel bad for you) I’m near Ottawa so it’s probably similar in pricing
@midnightmtb lol yes I am referring to CAD and thank you for your support, life in QC is harder than when I lived in ON but I got posted here and my wife has a career here so 🤷
In terms of charging speed, the battery max charge speed is most efficient at a temp of 21C. Did you have preconditioning turned on? Isn't it available?
@@stretched2 yes I always precondition the battery. You can do it both manually or just plot your route with the built in navigation system and it will turn on automatically
@Outsider.Reviews I should have also asked what was the outside ambient temperature and if manually, for how long? Typically with my I5, if it's -15 or lower, doesn't matter how long precon was on, the charging taps out at 150 kW after only 5 mins and holds at 125 kW.
@stretched2 Always below 0 but it varies from -20 to -10 which I do mention in the video. I understand that makes charging slower but 150kwh is still slow by today's standard when they have vehicles charging 350kwh which is why it's on this list
@@Outsider.Reviews Apologies for missing your comment of -20 to -10. My Ioniq5 is rated to charge 350kW with a 600V arch - but I've never been able to get higher than 235kW. Blazer/Equinox EV is rated 190kW on a 400V arch (I believe). But the current chemistry I think prevents higher charging in colder climates.
@@stretched2 It could be a combination of the chargers and energy loss but I have rarely seen a car charge at it's maximum capabilities longer than a few minutes but still 150kwh is low in today's standard but I only travel like twice a year with my EV so it's fine.
lol I literally have to film the car right next to car wash in the winter in order to display a clean car lol It's tough. But I'm also excited to get my tesla adapter at some point to try on their superchargers
True, it does raise replacement cost but on the top options they have heated wiper area and I know that costs even more so I find it strange they don't even have rain sensing wipers as an option.
Definitely pass on auto headlights for auto wipers! Planning on purchasing an Ev this spring, chev ( gm) subscription setup while excluding android auto is a concern for me.
It was a concern for me as well but in the end, I use android for Map and music mostly and this has the map and I can get the music via BT so I was ok with it but I understand having it as a hurdle and depending on the other vehicles you're considering... it might be a deal breaker.
I have rain sensing wipers on my model 3, they suck! This is the only vehicle I've had them on so could just be Tesla. I usually turn them off as they often just randomly turn on when there is no rain or when there is a mist, they go full speed. they are horrible! That being said the Tesla auto high-beam suck to so maybe it's just a Tesla thing lol
Tesla does other things great but car features like those are not one of them lol. I loved the rain sensing wiper system on my Mazda which is why I miss it perhaps.
CX-30 Same... But I value the automatic high beams more. There are many times when I have to self adjust the wipers with these Florida rains in the summer.
Apple car play is a deal breaker and I’m a loyal life long gm guy and I retired from their employment. What’s a uber driver to do. I really like that I can see my maps from the phone on the screen. I own bolt euv.
@@bikelife127 yeah I'm sure you aren't the only one and it will be interesting if GM reverses course on that but Tesla and Rivian both don't offer it either. Perhaps try Android and just be a better person? Lol I'm 💯 joking on that last one lol
@@peterscott2662 That is not what I'm saying Peter and I explain it during the full review. The acceleration is tamed and sometimes I wish they just let it open right up when you throw it in sport mode but overall I still prefer my Equinox EV and that is why I bought it. No EV has everything I want so there's concessions to be made and financially speaking, this acceleration preserves tires and allows for greater range which is good but it doesn't mean I don't wish I could accelerate like a bat out of hell sometimes
I’ve heard complaints that no apple car play is dangerous. People find them selfs on their phones doing what they need cause it’s no longer on the car screen. GM says they got rid of Apple CarPlay because it was “dangerous” but now they’ve just made the situation even more dangerous because people have to be on their phones more while driving
I don't think this move was about safety. I think it's a cost cutting and profit making attempt to get subscriptions out of it and they saw that Tesla and Rivian do not have Apple Carplay/Android Auto so they figured they would try it. It will be interesting to see if they pivot or keep status quo
heads up display is the best thing i have seen in a car it's not gimmicky at all and rain sensers is one of the most useless thing i ever seen it's not like you won't see when you drive ... oh maybe you are too busy looking into your dash to look at your speed
I have seem commercials for some of those on Insta... but I don't really need apple car play or Android Auto if I have built in Google maps and BT music but I might be the minority in that way

Well, except for the Cybertruck, that doesn't look nicer lol
I do really enjoy my Equinox and the other day I charged it at home from 3% to 85% and it cost me 8$ which is why I went EV in the first place.
Love the look of the RS, I'm in Florida so mine would be spotless and tons of Tesla chargers😁
lol I literally have to film the car right next to car wash in the winter in order to display a clean car lol It's tough. But I'm also excited to get my tesla adapter at some point to try on their superchargers
Rain sensing wiper suck. When you have to replace the windshield it cost a shit load more.
True, it does raise replacement cost but on the top options they have heated wiper area and I know that costs even more so I find it strange they don't even have rain sensing wipers as an option.
There is no good reason for the higher price. They just know they've got you
Definitely pass on auto headlights for auto wipers!
I loved the rain sensing wiper system on my Mazda which is why I miss it perhaps.
i have cx-5 and have both, rain sensing wipers and automatic high beam :)
My CX-5 was a 2016 GS+ so not the top trim but it had what I needed
If you wanted a faster EV, why didn't you choose a faster EV? 0-60 ins 6 seconds is overkill for most people.
Tesla doesn't have car play, no one cares.
It will still read your messages and voice responses as well as play all your media, not sure chat more you need your phone to do while driving.
heads up display is the best thing i have seen in a car it's not gimmicky at all and rain sensers is one of the most useless thing i ever seen it's not like you won't see when you drive ... oh maybe you are too busy looking into your dash to look at your speed
So you like the Heads up Display and don't like rain sensing wipers, thank you for your comment.
Get a AI box that will give you apple carplay
I have seem commercials for some of those on Insta... but I don't really need apple car play or Android Auto if I have built in Google maps and BT music but I might be the minority in that way
