So fortunate to have grown up at a time where singers and groups like this was the norm. No auto-tune. Real singing. You had to have the vocals. Plus real instruments. Glad you enjoyed the Stylistics!
I still have my Best of The Stylistics album - original vinyl. Still LOVE every song! There is nothing comparable to the Seventies Soul music, it was just the BEST!
I love this song. This is the way want your lover to feel each time you’re together. Thanks for the wonderful feelings of this song. God Bless You for this reaction.
You can't go wrong with groups like Stylistics Dramatics Whispers Spinners Enchantments O'Jays Manhattans Harold Melvin & The Blue notes Heatwave just to name a few
My high school chorus picked this song to sing in my sophomore year & I remember trying to hit those notes. The teacher decided I was an alto & not any kind of soprano after that, lol. Isn’t it amazing how a song can take you right back to a specific time & place? Crazy.
Your "not any kind of soprano after that" story just tickled me! Teacher said naw, you an alto this year! Cute memory! Loved being in the high school choir! Good times🥲
There I was on the porch swing at 12 yo, my arm around Valerie playing this on my portable record player for her. Sweet memories. At 61 yo I still feel the vibe. Thanks for the post young man✊
Wow, brought back memories. I remember how every Saturday we couldn't wait for Soul Train to play on our black and white TV. Thanks twinthenewtrend for all this good memorable music !!!
It was hey hey hey it's Faaat Albert! cartoon and SOOoULTRAIN! My family did manage to finally get a floor model color tv with the wood around the outside. 😂
Now y'all get it. The 60's and '70s: Those were the days when we had killer vinyl stereo systems, 8-track tape players in our cars with quadraphonic speaker systems and would cruise the neighborhood with my girl at my side. The Stylistics, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Righteous Brothers, Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell, The Spinners, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and The Funk Brothers. School dances or Soul Train on TV. Mellow soulful music. Timeless. Thanks for posting and your heartfelt reaction.
Aw, I'm so happy you did this song. It was a family fave from the 70's. You're spot on with the fact that you don't often hear this kind of singing, much anymore. The lyrics are just lovely & reminds me of my Dad often saying to our Mother, that God Blessed him with her & his 5 precious children. A wonderful throw-back. Thanks for reviewing this one 👌💯
Hey Tim! The Stylistics made beautiful songs because they were very good singers with rich harmony...like so many of the old school groups. I grew up on this music. It was priceless! Auto-tune didn't exist then; so we got to witness raw, pure TALENT. When "You Make Me Feel Brand New" was released in 1973, there were a lot of amazing bands on the scene. Earth, Wind & Fire. The Spinners. Gladys Knight & The Pips. The Jackson 5. Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. The O'Jays. The Ohio Players. The Isley Brothers. And that's a short list off the top of my head. 😊
This was a real vibe back in the 70's. So many outstanding groups at that time that could harmonize beautifully. The Stylistics, The Spinners, The Delfonics, The Temprees, The Dells, The Blue Notes. Hip hop and rap has made this type of singing a lost art.
This was one of my mother’s favorite songs back in the day. She lived to the ripe age of 82 and fell asleep in death in 2017. Every time I hear this song, I remember that she liked it so much.
Yessss, the lyrics, harmony, dance moves, and outfits were on point for that era! 🧡🤗 Thank you, do Blue Magic next. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Yay! I've been waiting for you to react to this song by this group! Amazing vocals; total class. Songs with beautiful lyrics, and singers who sung them so they're easy to understand & learn & sing along. The Stylistics weren't the most popular soul group in their day (probably the Temptations were bigger stars), but this group was always my favorite. Thanks for posting, Tim!
On, WOW, brought back so many memories of listening to this song, in high school. Loved it then and still love it. I immediately started singing along, lol. Men who sing in Falsetto (high pitch) don't talk like that, they have normal voices. In the 70's there were a number of singing groups that had at least one member who sang falsetto. No, no, no, they don't make them like they use to.
In 1974 I was 17 years old when this song came out. I fall in love for my first time. Her name was Amanda. I’m 68 years old now and still thinking about her listening to this song.
Their high voice is called "falsetto". All men can do it. It is simply singing in their highest register and takes practice relaxing the vocal cords and locating your high voice, for example when doing breathing warm-up vocal exercises that sound like sirens or fire trucks, - that high sound is the range where the falsetto voice lives. Men practice and develop their high voice and use it for special musical effects. Frankie Valli (and the Four Seasons) is famous for his high voice in Sherry, and Big Girls don't Cry.
I came here to explain the same thing to Tim, but I’m glad you got here first. Perfect analogy there are so many good songs from the R&B era of the 60s and 70s feature a guy with falsetto singing… This one itself is the most magical that I can recall. Pure black excellence.
The Stylistics are a great group! Falsetto voice is what they call that sound the lead singer is singing. Look for a group called ENCHANTMENT THEY WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!
That unnaturally high voice he is using is called falsetto. It was very popular to use that singing style back in the day. You may remember reacting to the Bee Gees, who did a lot of singing in falsetto as well.
"THE STYLISTICS " ARE A (GROUP) ON THEIR OWN (STYLE), AND WHAT A (GROUP) THEY ARE WITH SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO (LOVES) THAT (SOULFUL) SOUND. LISTEN ALSO TO "PEOPLE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND" AND "YOU ARE EVERYTHING ", AND "STOP, LOOK, LISTEN". GREAT HIT (SONGS) ALSO. THEY ARE (LEGENDARY).😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for recognizing such awesome, deep, beautiful music that still lingers in our souls! I was younger than you when this song came and I still love it today at 64…thank you for bridging the gap ❤
Wow! I was 11 years old when I first heard this. My teacher would bring records to school when we couldn’t go out for recess due to weather. I wore this 45 out!!
Nice! I would like you to see old songs like this one and their covers like Babyface's version. I think it would make for an interesting video. My favorite cover discovery is Jackson Five's "All I Do Is Think Of You " and Troop's cover.
Thanks, Tim. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I LOVE the Stylistics. 💜When I was a kid in the 70s, I also LOVED Soul Train!! 🚂My very first album in the 70s was a Soul Train album. I loved your reaction to the buttery Soul sounds of the Stylistics. 💙
Stylistics are definitely one of my all-time favorite groups! As a matter fact, in about a month, I will be seeing them in person and Russell Thompkins jr is still lead singer. Great reaction to a 🔥 group.
I was a 16/17 year old when the Stylistics hit the scene...I bought all their 45's... superb era . O'Jays, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Temptations , Chi lites, Four Tops ..oh the memories!
I've only heard you say a FEW words and when I heard you say "you make me feel brand new" my 💜 leapt!!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG! Now I'll watch to see if you love it, too. 😊🎼😌
Love that song now that what you call real music and as you can see it has stood the test of time. I held a many girls tight and slow danced to this song. Dude music to me from an early age had no color. If it's good it's good no matter who you are singing
I’m late getting to this video but still had to answer your question. It’s the harmonizing that you hear that sounds so different to you. Making 5,6,7 voices sound like 1. It was a staple back in the day. The Stylistics just perfected it. Keep the videos coming! ❤😊❤
My top five groups of the 70s, and that’s hard to choose but it was that kind of decade. I bought every single album they made including this very first one with the song was, the music was exceptional. Thank God we can still listen to it😊
This is the era when music had a lot of heart and soul.
Nothing better
Yes indeed.
I know right.. intimate, meaningful, etc.
Exactly
Nearly every R&B group had at least one guy with a sweet falsetto singing voice. It was the perfect accompaniment to a strong tenor, bass or baritone.
And they created pure magic❣️
Yesss...you got that right
Let us not forget El Debarge. WOW!
As they used to say about 'The Temptations' in the 60s. "The group with five lead singers".
🔥
You’re right - they don’t sing and perform music like this anymore!! This was pure talent and total style! Pun intended!! ❤🎉😊
I do.
The love songs of that era had such lush arrangements and beautiful harmonies. The vocal groups of the early '70s were special.
Yes, they certainly were!
they really did, all those background arrangements and instruments were beautiful much less the lyrics and the true talent voices...
And the choreography! All those moves to the music! Melted me then and melts me now.
So fortunate to have grown up at a time where singers and groups like this was the norm. No auto-tune. Real singing. You had to have the vocals. Plus real instruments. Glad you enjoyed the Stylistics!
Smoooth as butter❣️ One listen and all my cares just melt away. Looking at the audience dancing, man could they ever rock a Fro back in the day❣️
I still have my Best of The Stylistics album - original vinyl. Still LOVE every song!
There is nothing comparable to the Seventies Soul music, it was just the BEST!
Same here!! The Stylistics were always my favorite soul group.🤩
"Betcha By Golly Wow" is amazing too.
Great Song, brings us back to the 70s. Thank you Tim. Joan and Keith 😊😊❤❤❤
Classic! Can’t beat the old school.
And the Chi Lites!
So much beautiful music.
Yasssss. 🔥
ok but gotta give the Bee Gees a shout..

Tears streaming down my face .. so touching
The 70's R&B was the bomb, I appreciate now more than ever. There are great individual vocalists now, but very few groups.
Wow, brought back memories. I remember how every Saturday we couldn't wait for Soul Train to play on our black and white TV. Thanks twinthenewtrend for all this good memorable music !!!
SAME HERE 😊 & ❤SOUL🚂 & THE STYLISTICS 👏👏 & THIS BEAUTIFUL❤🎶
It was hey hey hey it's Faaat Albert! cartoon and SOOoULTRAIN! My family did manage to finally get a floor model color tv with the wood around the outside. 😂
You are so right!!@ good times.. ❤❤❤❤😊

Every single one 💣💯💥
I grew up with this music, brings back memories, I love this beautiful song, so romantic. ❤❤🎶🎶
There is no more sincere a song than this. A classic that moves me each and every time.

VERY true!

MY EXACT SENTIMENTS 😊 & ❤❤ THE STYLISTICS 👏👏 & SOUL 🚂
We were so blessed to grow up with such beautiful music. Role models who sung with respect toward the women in their lives😢
I’m so nostalgic right now. ❤
This was one of my mother’s favorite songs back in the day. She lived to the ripe age of 82 and fell asleep in death in 2017. Every time I hear this song, I remember that she liked it so much.
Gotta admit I forgot about this song but luv it. Back then you could actually understand the words they were singin. Thanks Tim 😎
Philip Bailey from Earth Wind and Fire sings like that, check out the song , Reasons.
My favourite Stylistics song, ever.
1973, I still remember all the words, great choice, proper music and perfect voices ❤
Exactly! Funny how the words just come right back to us, but dang if I can remember what I had for lunch yesterday 😅
@@annlittle6193 SO true 😂
@@annlittle6193 😅🤣😂
My mum passed this year and this brought tears to my eyes. She loved this song when I was a kid.🥺 Good times🥲🥰🥰

Pure gold vocals from the legendary stylistics.🔥 My absolute favorite song of theirs. Great song for your library, young connoisseur of music 💕👍
Pure class! ❤💯

This song still gives me butterflies in my stomach. 😢❤😢❤
You are Everything and Betcha By Golly Wow are two more great hits from this awesome group.
The Stylistics are a great group! Falsetto voice is what they call that sound the lead singer is singing. Look for a group called ENCHANTMENT

only in the 70,s real soul , sadly never to be repeated

Junior high.. straight out of junior high.. you never forget where you were in life by a song.. so magical
Thank you for reviewing this. Brings back so many good memories! You are so unique and awesome! God Bless!
Philly sound - TSOP - is eternal. Songwriting was top notch also.
LOVE LOVE this group since I was a little boy and now all of these decades later...

Slow dancing to this in high school, I never realized how powerful the lyrics are!
Wow! I was 11 years old when I first heard this. My teacher would bring records to school when we couldn’t go out for recess due to weather. I wore this 45 out!!
This would be a lovely duet for a guy and a girl also. 😍
Love the music your doing tonight
I agree ! 👍
I'm 64. I'm English. I'm white. These guys still send tingles down my spine - as they did in the 1970s.
Nice! I would like you to see old songs like this one and their covers like Babyface's version. I think it would make for an interesting video. My favorite cover discovery is Jackson Five's "All I Do Is Think Of You " and Troop's cover.

Thank you!!! You're the only one out there reacting to this stuff. Also, Blue Magic, The Stylistic are other groups.
I miss Motown music and don't understand why similar groups aren't popular today.
I 💙 this song. Thanks, Tim.
My favorite song from my favorite soul group!
So much awesome natural hair in the audience.
My Mom loved this song.
Saturday afternoon Soul Train. Best part of my teenage years. Thanks for the precious reminders.
