- Russian meaning for... 'A home away-from-home'
A steep and challenging site overlooking the pristine shores of Lake Wanaka. The brief for design and layout evolved from a repeated phrase from the client...."don't let the house get in the way of the view, it's all about the view."
A long wall of stacked stone, inside and outside, is the spine of the house that divides the service and entry side of the house that faces the street, from the private and glassy side of the house that faces the lake. The goal was to get as many rooms as possible to have a lake view, not only straight on views but views through corners too. Some rooms look through each other to capture more panorama.

Fun for her, choosing the best projects to work on. She does seem to know what she is doing!
Magnificent
U guys need to show more of the bathrooms in your videos. I would have loved to see the different layout.
It’s refreshing to hear the discussion on this residence without big words & self-aggrandizement architects & designers can really wank on.
Yeah. Was nice that.
I hate all that bullshit too.
Absolutely stunning work! I'm truly impressed!
As a Lighting Designer, if I may offer a suggestion, consider toning down the number of spotlights and incorporating a bit more light layering. This could further enhance the ambiance and make the house even more captivating. Overall, though, I must commend you - the house is an absolute marvel!
awesome
I will definitely live here.... Yes. I do looking for the weather that showing, just like this films.... Not very bright sunny weather but moisture weathers.... So that appreciate when sunlights comes out....
I like her presentation.
Lovely, i may never live in such a house in my life but would love to work in a construction of such a house, don't know if i am destined too..
One day. A girl can dream!
Dacha in Russian actually means a cottage (to be precise) and where, in addition to everything, you also grow kartoshka
This is not Dacha for sure, more like a fancy, swanky, uber funky mansion
You are right, but I believe Russians wouldn't mind having a dacha like this one here, where they could also grow kartoshka :)
@@ivanb4816 Huh?
Clearly you've never been to Stalin's Dacha in Kuntsevo, you won't find any potato fields there :)
@@beyondhorizons9758 or multiple dachas of soviet writers in Peredelkino.
In the Soviet Union, dachas (a tiny piece of land) were given to factory workers so that they would not starve to death and could still get at least some food for themselves. I was a child and I remember all this. Damn the communists.
yes
WoW!!!
was Gone girl filmed there?
Casa muito legal, conceito louco, gramado pra criança correr, piscina deixa a desejar

how to solve electricity?
When you're age 80 end plus🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
No, the owner of this house would not stain weather boards, even if he had weather boards
Does that mean it’s owned by a Russian billionaire oligarch
100% this was paid for using money from all sorts of criminal activity.
that's how the modern democracies benefit from being democratic. they impose sanctions on such authoritarian countries, making the rich people flee from such problematic locations and bring their money to democratic economies. thus making those countries even poorer, more problematic, and more authoritarian which will give a cause to impose more sanctions.
@@SuperAwsomeFunLogan - Wrong, Tinkov self made billionarie, no any connection with government.

How rich are some people!? It's a shame not living in that house fulltime.
Dacha means suburbian house that you receive for free as a present from szar or a government!
Only F1 fans can like this
I would prefer wooden floor..
Can't make out your accent where are you from pls?.
А владеет ей государственный российский олигарх
"Home away from home"? 😊 Not true! Soviet dachas were far more modest unheated summer dwellings made primarily so that people could supplement their meals with fruits, vegetables and berries of their own production. This is akin to naming Jay Z's home "The Cottage" 😂
Human desires never ends...even if the are achieved by removing a large area of forest.
thats good but kinda unsafe

Glass and metal box - NO!
what's with the corny background music lol it doesn't need to be transcendental
This is a standard response to the site by a typical architecture, try on internet to find out thousands of them. Nothing new and exciting ...sorry.
I agree. If I had that kind of money I'd be wanting to either preserve an older building and the environment at the same time or do something not so generic at that level. That's down to the client. This building's function is to pay for itself.
The design concepts are over a hundred years old now at least. Still, the architects did solve several problems in textbook fashion to satisfy the brief, which is their main job.
Can't help thinking that several more invested locals had their views diminished with this building going up.
Ворованные деньги - по любас.
Где погреб для закаток, грядки и деревянный сортир????, Неправильная кака-то дача!!!)))))🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Не путай дачу с огородом🤣
Dacha=bach👍👍❤️❤️
If you build as house in nature, avoid straight lines....... otherwise it begins to look like a healthcare facility.
Когда куча денег, полное отсутствие вкуса и скромности. Ужас, для жизни это не нужно. Очень плохой дом.
It just looks like a 1970s hotel or office building. No architectural detail or interest. No moldings. It’s vacuous and cold. Why are you quoting Russians to say a common English language cliche by the way.
horrible
F#cking flash “bach” 😳😳😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰stunning.❤️❤️❤️
Sorry for swearing I find it the best way for ME to describe the world that I see🙂🙂❤️❤️❤️❤️🤟no offence intended.
