A Certified Passive House Sits Long And Low Against Its Alpine Backdrop In Central Otago

- Slender and stark against wide skies, this Wanaka dwelling clad in 'drunken-laid' white brick is atypical of the vernacular in Lakes District. Its rectangular geometry and crisp-contrast palette bring contemporary elegance to the street façade while to the rear, dark-stained timber is a low-key, organic shift that segues into the landscape.
Designed for a couple who are both keen skiers, the home was initially devised as a South Island base - the finished home is a certified Passive House Plus; a place they intend to relocate to permanently - and a building designed for permanence and performance in a climate of extremes.
