In the installation video it doesn't show it but I went back the day after and installed the self tap screws just for peace of mind! I actually ended up really liking the design so I think these are staying for a while!

3m is in addition to the side skirt mounting and is NOT the sole method of mounting. At somepoint, it will come off.
Actually since 2017-2020 many companies have switched to only 3M installation since 3M technology has come so far in the recent decades. As long as you’re provided with high quality EXTERIOR 3M tape it’s perfectly fine to only install it with 3M. For example, many after market duck style spoilers are only held on with 3M so no drilling is required. Along with many front lips, side skirts, and rear spats now a days. Some company examples are aeroflowdynamics, Honda eBay parts, compressive tuning, molded innovations, and but not limited to Subaru OEM.
But either way it doesn’t matter this time since he went back at the end and used the self tap screws with the 3M.
