I'm going to learn this if it's the last thing I do on earth. I actually got annoyed with things today because I know I'm physically capable of this. So I went out to a really deserted remote trail today and I sessioned it nonstop for nearly two hours. And I did section of it over and over and over again until I felt like I'd learned something. My dog was starting to wonder what the hell I was doing but she's loyal so she followed me up and down those hills a million times. And it actually helped! I found out that in some cases, being in too easy of a gear caused me to fail. But speed plus a slightly harder gear and I actually did a whole bunch of sections that shut me down last time. There's just so much to learn!!
Probably the best explanation and demonstration I’ve seen. Top-tip, if you can, get four pallets and learn to do this smoothly raising the stack one pallet at a time. Popping over a stack of four pallets is an achievement! Just approach at right angles to the planks otherwise you’ll jam a wheel 😂
Thanks for the video. I was doing it using just my legs and could never be in the right position to unweight rear wheel. I watched your video and realized need to use a little bit of pull with my hands. Finally cleared the obstacle ..

2:21 at that point just try pushing the bars down hard and fast to mach the angle you are rolling down too AND you will feel it like a pum track + your center of gravity will be centered over the bike and before pushing get the heels down.
Hi Thomas, thanks for your comment. Once again, the technique I am teaching here has many more advantages over what you are saying - watch my video here to see: ua-cam.com/video/CUBZNVaPvkM/v-deo.html why you do NOT want pressure in your hands as a default. Also, if I push my heels down it will put me rearwards and not centered over the bike - as soon as you lower both heels, your center of gravity moves back. watch my video riding position breakdown and you will see why it is so important to keep a foot wedge instead of lowering both heels: ua-cam.com/video/SydGB5NN3Zg/v-deo.html
great. im having problems clearing obstacles that are too short ,shorter than the wheelbase, less than 1m long. see 0:55 both of your wheels are o the rock. what is the technique there? a saw jeff lenoski do cool stuff using the obstacle to create a bouncing object for the fork to lift the whole bike over the log.
Hi Martin, one technique that will work is front wheel lift directly followed by a rear wheel lift accompanied by push on the bars. Practice the moves individually first, then combine them on small obstacles and work your way up :-)
Yes, there is, I teach it in this course: roxybike.podia.com/front-wheel-lifts-skills-course-learn-4-techniques-to-lift-the-front-wheel-of-your-mountain-bike These lifts make your ride much more fun and smooth. Enjoy, Ksenia! Much love, Roxy
Hi, I'm curious what size frame do you have? I'm 5'1 small frame and 29" wheels, my feet touch the ground when seat is down but still feel like my bike is too big for me. Also I'm a new rider, finding your videos very cool and educational.
Hi Gina, I’m the same size as you and ride a small frame but with 27,5” wheels. 29” wheels are sometimes too big for us, depending on the leg length. Have you tried this exercise? How To Dismount & Bail Safely on Steep Downhill Tracks | Mountain Bike Skills on Point Ep. 3 ua-cam.com/video/dI7Fq89qdWc/v-deo.html Can you stand over your rear wheel safely? If you can then it’s no problem to ride 29” If not, it can end dangerous.

This is a big difficulty for me. I'm always nervous about the frame or chainring hitting. How can you tell if it'll clear? As long as it doesn't have a sharp angle like you stated?
Well, the key is to work your way up and also, you can always walk your bike up, compress the suspension and see if it hits. 😊😊 also, this video will help, the same applies uphill: Up to Which Height is a Drop Rollable? | Why JUST SEND IT may Send You Over The Bars! ua-cam.com/video/B1QUai237GA/v-deo.html

Why every trainer has a $6000 - 10.000 bike? Do it with an average bike. For 5 or 6000 you can buy a car. Never mind...
Maybe because it’s my daily vehicle? This is my full time job 😃
The skill is IDENTICAL on a cheaper bike - no difference at all 🤗
P.S. most people I coach ride much more expensive bikes than I do - I usually have the middle range 😄
