What a breath of fresh air to see tutorials NOT on a full suspension bike and with the suspension locked out making it virtually a rigid bike. Fantastic.👍
Thanks!! Good to learn stuff with the bike setup as you’d actually ride it, right? I sometimes lock out my fork (that one has a remote), just to get the basics sorted - but you have to then go back and learn it with the suspension added in. Sometimes it can be a huge help - like that front wheel bump on the log in the first section.
If you really want to learn the basics try a BMX. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything but take your kid's bike and start messing around. I learned all my skills on a BMX and then plateaued at 30 on a MTB 😂
This is my goal for 2024. This lovely log that we need to hop over. I have one on my trail. A log that it just a bit too big to ride over and it taller than my clearance. Perfect video for me. Im here in my journey
On day 2 of practice and the timing is just starting to click. Can't believe I've been riding for 6 years without learning to get over obstacles higher than my bb. Thanks for the vid!
How are there not more comments on these videos? This guy is awesome at breaking these moves down and explaining things so well that even a noobie can follow.
I thought I saw every MTB vid on UA-cam but never saw this one or any others from Super Rider. This one is very helpful and I look forward to practicing. Thanks.
The dreaded uphill ledge! I know it's only a bias because it's noticeable when tired, but they are always the worst thing when I'm tired from lots of pedaling and or have near zero momentum because of whatever hill/climb I'm on. Killer tutorial dude!
The least forgiving obstacle, no question! That double pump move has saved me on more than a few occasions - but I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes it’s good to have a break from pedaling uphill! Haha
This is one tutorial I was waiting to watch. I have seen 100s fo videos related to the subject, but this one did the explanation like no other. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for this! I'm a former BMXer maaaaany years ago. Now I'm old and I'm trying to get into MTB to regain some fitness and my former passion for biking. I watch moto trials regularly and just drool over the mad skills. Definitely subbed!
I believe my problem has been using my front brake to give me a moment on top of the object to make sure I'm up safely. That is probably why I clear things better going downhill. Time to find a bigger and softer log! Nice job on the slow motion.
Well done. I learned years ago on rigid bikes bc that is all we had. The best suspension any bike can have is your arms and legs. The bike is just the tool to execute the moves. Too many nubes are jumping in on $10K FS bikes and the bike allows them to plow through features and never learn to ride them properly. They just carry over logs. Lol.
great tutorial video dude. I like how you break it down to individual movements. plenty people ask me about this kind of stuff. Now I'm just going to send them to watch this video.
Subscribed!! So glad I found this! I'm a novice and was getting really discouraged not being able to improve with obstacles. Everything is so well explained, can't wait to get back on the trails and practice 😁
Great content! I ride a heavy SC Nomad 26" with DH wheels and tires and coil shock. Like to see you with a full suspension like mine. It really absorbs the input energy so it is more about working with the timing of the cushy suspension for me to pull the momentum maneuvers. Have learned so much from your channel, thanks.
Thanks so much! Agreed - suspension definitely impacts these techniques - but all still possible. I've been thinking a lot about including a version of these tutorials on my full suspension bike. There are some ways to use it to your own advantage - as I'm sure you know.
It looks like when you went to get over that log after you hit it in the ace at 11:00 you pre-loaded the shot the bike out in front of you pushing arms out and/or hips back sort of like what you would do on a drop? Is this harder to do in a hardtail for a beginner?
how important is to master the skill from your new episode how to jump up to back wheel? in 2:53 it kinda looks as that same movement which helps you to get the rear wheel over the log. there this this small "pedal kick".
It’s a very similar movement - this is the foundation and then you can built up to back wheel stuff. These skills all built on each other, that’s the best part!
Thank you . I come from a road racing background (35yrs). It's good to finally get on a mtb and start having fun .just kidding . Thank you. Good job !!
After watching this I tried it on my mtb. I don’t know if I’m just too weak or my balance is completely wrong but I can’t get my back wheel up anywhere near that lol. It’s a full suspension and 15kg? Should it still be able to be done?
Short chainstays are the main thing you’d be looking for on a bike that hops well - the chainstays on my bike are just over 16”. Everything else is a bonus!
In almost all turorials i see the riders with flat pedal and shoes, I'm always locked on my pedals , which holds me back trying this stuf , not being able to click out in time if something goes wrong.
@@SuperRiderTV Do you ride clips much not that want to get into a whole debate about riding clipless vs flats but am interested in weather or not you do ride clipless a fair amount?
I have this problem sometimes too, but when I focus on my foot placement it seems to go away. I’m usually so focused on my back foot, sometimes my front foot goes rogue.
@@SuperRiderTV cool I'll practice again when I have the time . I had a magnificent OTB when my chain got stuck on the backside of the log and I tried to hop forward 🤣

Spot on!! You nailed it - I couldn't agree more, your best suspension is always with you!
Before you can do that you’ll need to upgrade your wheels (I9) or hope wheels to be able to dig a little bit to move up and over

@@SuperRiderTV dirt jump track on your trials bike. Just curious about it how it goes

Couple of words and description about feet position and tension or no tension, push to feets when we try move up rear wheel?
I’ve entered the world of eMTB riding. Any chance of a “master class” like this one but for the heavier bike?
Great call! I could definitely add this to my list - might be a minute before I'm able to do it properly, though. Winter here in Portland..

Good one Ed!
Are you supposed to be clipless for that "Down -Back- and UP" procedure?
I suggest learning it with flat pedals first, but it’s possible with either style of pedals
Can I do it with a hard tail
Absolutely!
do you have a bike check on your Santa Cruz?
I haven’t made one yet!
