Sweeet! Dodge has definitely changed the game many times over. Original 4x4 truck 1946. The truck that needs no road. Power Wagon. Dodge trucks of all shapes and sizes served our great nation in combat. Chrysler was the sole source of Tansfer cases and standard transmissions for all full size american trucks. New process gear. Making Chevy and Ford 4 wheel drive over a decade later late 50's. First turbo diesel, fully boxed frame, Exhaust brake, Extra cab and crew cab etc... I finally own my dream truck 2015 AEV Prospector power wagon i bought brand new after owning my 2003 Hemi 1500 4x4 for 12 years and 112,000 trouble free miles. Sold it to my best friend who still drives it today. Mid 70's Dodge Big Horn Semi's are awesome trucks as well.
I have my 98 gen2 5.2l gas manual. Pennies on the dollar compared to buying a new truck or even a recently new used truck. Just fun to work on. I had the crank shaft sensor wire go out on me while in the desert. Luckily I was able to coast 9 miles all the way down hill to the highway. So I'd recommend replacing any sensor that, if fails, will halt your vehicle. Even the pre and post cat O2 sensors would be good to replace.
I cant believe how CLEAN it is...its so nice to see these ol' girls still in Original shape and not butchered for Truck Pulls or some HS Kid getting ahold of it and squatting it, destroying the wiring harness or doing some shade tree performance crap to them...keep it classy. I’m also a 40 year camera operator here in SoCal. Your videos are very well done. Much respect. Your trucks are beautiful. I just got a ‘99 and I’m doing the same things in a different order. Run the overhead on that engine, 50K is usually a good time and it shouldn’t move anymore if you set it now. I’ve got new control arms, full synergy steering, a 4th gen steering box, and track bar conversion in boxes in the back of mine right now. Good info on the sway bar and springs. I’ll probably copy you on those and whatever you swap the leafs out with. Coolant hoses and belt next as mine are crusty! 6 burnin’ and four turnin’, great video and awesome truck!
Clean. I’m building my 1998 Dodge Ram 12 valve. Just got my Method 305 NV HD rims. Just lifted front end 2” now time to pick tires. I like how your tires look. Not sticking out like a Monster truck. My wife has a 2015 TDI VW Touareg. I would like to do upgrades on that.
My dream truck is the Dodge W200 from the 70's. I HATE modern looking trucks, but these 90's 2nd gens look pretty slick aswell. Not too round still kinda kept the square style.

Thank you! I’ve bought an 02 2500 and the previous owner slapped a 5” exhaust with a 10” tip. Been window browsing exhaust and lift kits for the 2nd gens. Will be on the lookout for the Carli suspension video! Haven’t seen many videos about it on UA-cam on the 2nd gens
Look into the fleece power flow lift pump. It's more expensive than the fass and airdog but I really think it's the best option. No external pump, no need for a modded drawstraw or sump added and good for all the power a VP will make. Also it's not so much keeping the injectors happy but the having the VP fully cooled and lubricated with 14psi or more.
I’m a third gen guy but I would daily drive that second gen (the way you’ve upgraded it lol) no problem it looks awesome. Plus that 24 valve 5.9L Cummins and thuren suspension 🤤

Hey , this is the same truck I have. 99 Ram 2500 diesel. 203,000 miles though. I’m original owner. Only difference mines 2wd. Mine Rides like a Cadillac. How did I do it. Installed 1,000 lb service body on it & overhead rack. Then put 1,000 Lbs of tools in it. Rides smooth as Glass !
Probably a good video idea honestly! Basically just all fluids/filters, wear items like brakes, steering joints etc, and then have fun with the upgrades!

When talking about steering and suspension for these trucks, there is a company that either you glossed over or aren’t aware. They are called dodgeoffroad and make steering, bump stops, suspensions, sway bars and lots of other parts that most companies don’t make for second gens. I believe their shackle flip would allow you to improve ride and get some lift while keeping the stock leaf pack and capacity. Wasn’t sure if you were aware.
I would never speak poorly about a company unless it’s well warranted, but I refuse to run or even talk about their parts. I have never seen a company with such poor business practices, and have watched people get let down first hand by their low quality parts and poor customer service. Their google reviews say that I’m not alone in that sentiment either!
just letting you know you are filling from the clean side of the oil filter. pre fill thru the smaller holes so that all of your oil is filtered and you dont risk anything getting thru! great videos tho, keep them coming!
Fantastic videos, love the clean, non-smokey vibe of your channel (pun intended). I'll take your silencer ring if you still have it lol. I want mine back in on my 1998.5, 3500. Also, will the sway-bar work for a 2WD? I run a service bed, so my truck is a bit heavier than stock, and the current ride is absolute trash. This will be the third complete front end rebuild since getting the truck back in '05...it just keeps eating bushings and joints.

I’ve owned the truck for about a month. So far I haven’t had to do much I just orderd valve springs govnor springs and a new turbo as well as sum front end parts🤣 the front end on these dodges are so junk. Both mine and my dads start to wonder when you get past 20

What's the best resource you've found for really good knowledge and opinions and advice with 2nd gen suspension? Don't want it lifted either. Stock height.

1998 12 valves do have the sway bars too. I upgraded mine.

You should see the rust buckets up north and they still want top dollars. I’m sure in the south you have the crumbling dash and broken evap box.
25k .... try $35k ... They see a price on CL then all the dealers and car flippers start buying them run the prices up.

You should try the Watts linkage for the rear axle, keeps it centered and located without reducing ride quality.
Look into the fleece power flow lift pump. It's more expensive than the fass and airdog but I really think it's the best option. I also just bought a very clean low mile 1999. Same truck but a long bed! I would love to get those wheels or something very similar.
If you haul with it keep the rear sway bar. Thats just me tho. Really helps with tracking

Do you have a video that details what maintenance work we should do before thinking about upgrades? If you do it would definitely be helpful.

Fass fuel hope your in warm climate. I had one with 60% #1 and the water fuel separator froze up. I had a 01 like that, sharp looking rig.
He’s in California, definitely won’t freeze in almost any place there. Always a good thing to know though!
