This looks really good! I'm excited about the possibility of being swarmed by alien infantry as you mentioned at one part of the video. That sounds awesome, ahaha! Also, I gotta say I really like the fact that you don't stop yourself from making games from wildly different settings/themes. This mirrors my own interests too, so it's perfect. For example, I do love a world war 2 game, but I also love sci-fi games, and sometimes I like modern air-combat games, and then other times I play super-deep complex farming games like Fields of Arle. One thing that I really like about your game designs, is how fast it is to make the counters since there aren't that many (I just cut the counter page right out of the book and glue to thick card), and then how fast it is to set-up a mission for play. That kind of thing is so valuable to me, it makes me much more likely to play a game if I can set it up/break it down really fast. Anyway, I've bought three of your games so far (Vimy Ridge, Lone Sherman, and Fields of Normandy 2) and I've played two of them (Vimy Ridge and Lone Sherman). They are great games, elegant designs, but plenty of meaningful player choices. Now I understand why so many of your fans are so enthusiastic! I'm quickly getting that way too, and also you've inspired me to maybe try to self-publish my own book based board game someday!! Thanks for making these videos, Mike, and I can't wait to see what other games you make in the future!
Thanks for the positive comments. My main aim was always to produce games that were quick to learn and to play but involved meaningful choices, and at reasonable prices.
Does when the alien spawn they are considered with their shields on. I made an attack (11) and pass the defense (5+4hex+1HG=10) in my first round but only if the infantry’s shield wasn’t on (12). I read the shield’s roll, you mark time to time. So I think for you shield are off unless they rule for one. For me as it’s a battleground they should have one or have a chance to have one (But they act later and you clearly rule to place them and nothing else). So maybe I made my first action more difficult than it should be. I realising this in my second turn after the infantry move and had a action for shield). Sorry to bother you with my very too complicated mind.
Sorry scratch that. Shield is after the hit. So Yes I hit him. And then I would have to roll damage (Also HG is for attacker only so the target was 9). And this is where I use the Shield if any. Sorry again. Should have read all before venturing in directly.
