It’s a close one!! Having said that, at 57:45 I mistakenly ignored the instruction for the Panzer lll to fire its MGs first. That may well have destroyed my Sniper unit making victory very difficult for me 🫤 There are one or two other minor errors in this video but nothing which impacts on the gameplay demonstration. For example, I think I spent 4 Orders to move my ATG at one point when the cos...

Quests For The Brave arrived today. Won on my first playthrough, but I'm sure that was a fluke and expect to lose horribly on all future playthroughs.😉 Just wanted to pop in here and say "Great game!" This is my 2nd Mike Lambo gamebook purchase and I'm sure many more will follow. Thanks for providing me with hours of fun!
Wow, 4 sixes out of 7 dice! That's pretty unlucky indeed. 4+ sixes on 7d6 is about 1.76%!
Looks like fun! Thanks Mike!
I own them all and each one is different, but challenging, in its own unique way. I look forward to the next 22 Mike!
Arrives tomorrow for me. Id like to mount the pieces on blocks. Are those half inch square?
@@jumpmaster82nd. They’re a little larger than that. About 5/8 inch or 17mm
Suggestion: A link direkt to Amazon word help :)
The thing is, that would require 22 links to every Amazon site (about 12). It's far easier just to go to your favourite Amazon site and search Mike Lambo. Here's the German Amazon (.de) page for me: www.amazon.de/stores/Mike-Lambo/author/B09RBGF189?language=en&ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1721914995&sr=8-1&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true
The YT algo gods gave me this vid and immediately got Adv Squad Leader nostalgia vibes, going to Amazon to do some shopping now!
I only have Outpost 2099. It's been fun.
my next purchase, bring a Canadian will be Assault On Vimy Ridge for sure
Highly recommend Fields of Normandy XL! It’s the third evolution of a very engaging and challenging system that has infinite replayability given the way the AI works with initially hidden units, etc.(FoN and FoN being the earlier two iterations of the system)
Naval battles would be great! Jutland, Midway, Coral Sea, Leyte Gulf or even Salamis (love me some Greek Triremes)
I would certainly like to do a sea battle game but the scale makes it difficult in book format. I’ll keep thinking!
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames Maybe age of sail. Lots of idea generation from Hornblower and Aubrey/Maturin books. You have boarding, ad hoc land operations, the randomness of the wind and weather and of course lots of broadsides. Movement could be simply relative to each other(s).
@@visby2548 Certainly sounds like an attractive option. One to add to the list!!
Mike are you willing to share your top five best sellers? Just curious. Love your games. I have eight, favouring war themed. I particularly love the LRRP system.
@@philipnantais6808 It’s tricky because some have been out for much longer than others. I can say that this month so far my top 5 sellers are Lone Sherman, Fields of Normandy, Battles of Kursk, battles of Napoleonic Europe and LRRP. Cheers
How did I miss this one?!! Right up my alley!!! Must get the wallet out I guess...
Maybe do something along the lines of GW Battlecars? Just a thought...
My first is arriving tomorrow: LRRP. Looking forward to it.
Hi Mike. A spanish fan here! When can we expec a new game in spanish?
Hi. My Spanish interpreter is busy with other work, but I do have a Spanish publisher who is in the process of translating Battles of Napoleonic Europe. This will be published by the company which is interpreting it in a few months' time so keep a look out for that one. Hopefully others will follow. Thanks. Mike
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames Great news! I will stay alert! Hope more games come!
Few designers have put out such quantity and, more importantly, such quality games.
I have all your WW2 titles, money well spent. Mine are printed out at my usual professional printer and I have them in a rather impressive spiral bound set up. I have put all the game pieces on foam core board. In hindsight I currently prefer a dual layer card stock approach (foam core is a nightmare to cut in small pieces).
Wow 😊 thanks for your work here 😊
ohave all your solitary books and i make 2 forms the historiques games and the others ;
Still waiting for some naval campaigns! Let's get some battlewagons and dreadnoughts slugging it out!
lol your gunner can't hit anything!! Frustrating
I got my copy from Amazon and a friend is painting little 3D printed tanks/vehilces for me. Can't wait to play!!
Mike, I love your books/games! Moreover, these videos are great! They help me a lot.
Thank you!
I would love for you to do a fantasy version of this. Rescue the Princess, steal the treasure, assassinate the evil king.... And/or a WW2 version. This system would lend itself very well to act out the "kill the German officers" mission of The Dirty Dozen. 😉
@@wesleyremans2474 I’m thinking of something similar to this for Commandos in WW2…
very clever
Absolutely loving this game, especially the campaign feature. Only thing I'm having a bit of confusion with is the instant sniper shot. I get that if a US unit is in the adjacent hex and reveals a rifle unit with sniper they take an instant morale loss. But, for example I have had it once or twice where I have rolled a Move and Grenade order, and revealed a rifle unit with sniper, which drops the US unit down to low morale. Does this mean that the US unit does not get to make the grenade attack as they are now in low morale and are only able to carry out the first order of the roll?
Disregard- found the answer on the Boardgame Geek forum. You can do both orders.
@@RememberTheRegs yes - it’s the morale status at the start of the turn that determines the number of actions. Glad you’re enjoying it 👍🏻
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames absolutely loving it and have my next two books lined up after this one. Keep up the great work. Just wondering if you have any plans to do something a bit larger scale? Maybe Company level on a larger map?
Hi Mike. Thank you for the hardcover version. Do you have any updates on future hardcover releases? Looking to buy more of your books and prefer the hardcover version if possible. Thank you again
Most of my games run to about 50 pages. Amazon, who publish it, require a minimum of 75 for hardback. I therefore have to combine games to make it work, which takes a lot of time on my part. Battles of Napoleonic Europe is the only one that is long enough and that is available in hardback. I might do more doubles when I get time but I tend to prefer to use that time to develop new games. Cheers, Mike
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames thank you Mike for letting us know.
Hi Mike, I really like your game and hope to get more but I notice I can’t find the hostage rescue on Amazon Canada. Just curious is it out of stock ? Thank you in advance
Sorry it has never been available in Canada and I have no idea why and have never managed to get a reason from Amazon, despite it being available everywhere else and all my other games being available in Canada. It’s a strange one. The best I can offer is that it is available on WargameVault.com for download. Mike
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames hmm interesting. Or I guess I can order from Amazon US then. Thank you
@@c5o212ben123 Yes I would think so although I don’t know what that does to shipping cost.
Excuse me, I'm a newbie. Does that mean the counters are not attached to the book, and I need to print the counters and stick to thick cards?
Hi. The counters are printed on the final page of the book, so that they can be cut out without destroying the book. It is recommended that the counters are stuck to thin card. In addition, the counter sheet can be downloaded from BoardGameGeek in the Files section for this game. Thanks. Mike boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/421470/battles-of-kursk-a-solitaire-wargame/files
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames Thank you so much
Just want to check, is Fields of Normandy the British Army and Fields of Normandy XL US Army?
Yes
I've tried labels, not perfect. Mounted to foam core board, unpleasant for anthing smaller than 1 inch square. The best results are print to card stock and for double sided matching fronts to backs is a challenge that takes practice. So far I have learned, cutting counters requires a metal ruler and a fresh box cutter blade. Even my razor sharp Fiskars shears grenerate a pinching effect. I have been using 3M brand spray adhesive, Once you have tried it you never go back to other glue methods.
Thanks for the adhesive recommendation. I've never tried it but will certainly give it a go.
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames just remember, where you spray it, it goes and lands on whatever, and makes a somewhat hard to clean mess. I suggest a garage or basement with nothing of value present :) Wear gloves too.
@@user-pc5ww8fh6d Thanks!!
I've just played Mission 1, which is my first ever hex and dice game. I really enjoyed it. Didn't think it would be so engrossing but it was and I can't wait to play again. Just got to get my ahead around the rules for Battle for Ramadi next.
Currently eyeing up your other books now! On mission 3 now and looking forward to playing more.
I'm thinking I might try and build a bit of a hex board and get some 10mm miniatures to use for this - I see no reason that would not work Edit: although i would need to be able to set up the terrain pieces and roads etc somehow hmmm
Where did you get your dice tower? Minimal sound when rolling.
I made it myself. Have a look at this: m.ua-cam.com/users/shortsPCTBXou7krw
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames That’s awesome. I thought it was very unique.
Just bought my first Mike Lambo gamebook, can't wait for it to arrive!

Have you looked at Assault on Vimy Ridge? Canadian forces in France in WWI. ua-cam.com/video/Ei39tIhp4Hg/v-deo.html
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames Wow! Forgive my ignorance 😆
Just today I stumbled randomly upon a Facebook group which covered the topic of solo-boardgames. I was immediately interested, because I didn´t know that such games are really a thing. Scrolling through the different posts in this group, many people asked about good games to start with and your name popped up several times. Then I searched UA-cam for more information and maybe a first look on how your games look like and how to play them, and here I am. And now you got yourself a new subscriber and I can´t wait to get my copy of Battles of Kursk, which hopefully arrives in two days. I only hope that the language barrier isn´t that bad as I am expecting it, because I am german.
Welcome to the hobby. Hopefully my rules are nice and clear and should translate pretty well. I hope you enjoy the game, and thanks for buying it.
Thank you for this! Are any more medieval books in the works by any chance?
Not yet but I’m sure there will be at some point 👍🏻
@@mikelambosolitairebookgames Excellent, thank you for the response!
Couple of pointers I have learned. Get a professional printer to do your printing. You deserve quality. Use a spray can of non water based adhesive. Try ordinary white glue to see why you don't want to use water based glue. Get your print outs done on card stock if you can, but paper will do. Use foam core board if you can. Don't use Bristol board, it just isn't thick enough. If you use a foam core board, you want a nice sharp box cutter type knife. Use a steel ruler if you plan to cut long straight edges. Foam core board can be a bit thick, I have found once the counters are made, you can hammer them a lot flatter without harming the counters really. You end up with something a bit thicker than conventional wargame pieces. Optional, if you clue 3 layers of Bristol board together you get a very durable counter density, but it takes some effort to cut through (not a good idea for massive sums of counters is my guess.
Warning warning warning :) I want to comment on a possible danger with Mike's games. You might accidentally become obsessed with creating really cool game pieces and end up not playing the games :) I have found myself getting a bit silly with this behaviour. But if you really must go all out, you might want to consider GHQ miniatures for table top wargaming. I'm thinking of doing so for the vehicles. And using ordinary 72nd scale figures for the troops. I might try and find some Monopoly buildings for 'cover'.
Mike, I'm what gaming calls a 'Crafter' and you clearly are my favourite sort of resource :) I will be picking up Kursk in a couple of days when my allowance comes in :) I can't say enough for your games. Can I ask for an Italian campaign book next? Or maybe something from the jungles of Burma. I have many of your WW2 items so far.
Thanks for the feedback and your support. I might well get round to a WW2 Italy based game at some point but the list is rather long so cannot make any immediate promises. It’s always good to hear what people are interested in though as it does help when I’m planning future games.
Waiting for the amazon version and... another one for the collection ;)
Finally succeeded at mission 2 after 5 failed attempts. Decided to go straight for the Tiger as it was the nearest tank to my Sherman on first round, managed to damage it and avoid any fire from enemy tanks and then destroy the Tiger on round 2. A little manoeuvring and avoiding a Panzer IV addition and finally escaped off top of map after round 6/7. Excellent and compelling game play Mike, thank you. On to mission 3
Good stuff Mike 👏👏
Nice playthrough Mike 👍👍
Great stuff Mike. I was distracted by “real life” earlier this week - so now is the time to watch all your Battles of Kursk videos. 😀👍
I take copies to FedEx Office and have them spiral bound for about $5.
Hi Mike, good job with the orders mechanic. You've managed to implement a command and control system with simplicity and elegancy. Nicely done!
Have you considered a ring binder-style for your books to ensure flatness of the maps? It seems to me that might be quite good.
Yes, but unfortunately Amazon do not offer such a format despite me asking them to consider it. If it becomes possible I’d go for it in an instant.
