My 12 year old son and I just rebuilt a PE28 today with the help of this video - we even stopped at a point and came in the house and watched it again. Thanks a lot for posting this, very helpful to us rookies.

besides sounding like you got high from gas fumes or grass...this is an excellent training video showing how easy it is to do one of the most important maintenace issues with any two stroke or off road machine...you have explained this so anyone can do this..i will be sending more viewers as im tired of cleaning/rebuilding everyone elses stuff, they can do it themselves..thanks!

Thanks for the video. Just took off and cleaned up the carb on my 1990 KE 100. I had even less parts to deal with. Took extra time with the float valve since these stick easily and are the main cause of fuel leaks because of stuck floats.

Thanks for the video. Even helped on my 60s version. Of course there were a few small changes in 30 years but same basic design.

5***** Just awsome. Last week I bought a 1986 KX80 for 200$ and was planning to do a good maintenance on it. This video will be very helpful. Good tutorial!

get a a pair of regular pliers. twist it back and forth to break it loose from the nipple, then get one or two screwdrivers..use the smaller one(flat head/ regular screw driver) to push it off the nipple a little..do it from multiple directions if you can by wedging it btween the line and the petcock and twist while pulling down on the hose(do it by feel).. slowly work the hose off with the larger screw driver..once your take it as far as you can with it then usually you can just pull it off.

@verbotenco almost identical to PE 28. We're not clear on the multiple positions of the clip on the jet needle, left it where it was but this is an area for fine tuning(?)

i answered to your question assuming you meant fuel line..if your talking about the cable then you need to look deeper..im sure i could figuer it out in minutes without thinking about it but ive never personally dealt with a kx 100 throttle cable and dont want to give you bad advise.. i just bought one and have to buy abunch of stuff and put it back together..so if you have any other questions, i will be learning quite a bit about this machine here shortly...

took less than nine minutes to put back together with maybe twenty minutes of cleaning if your slow...but take your time and do it right..so you got 30 minutes in the carb itself and maybe ten minutes taking off and putting back on once you learn the easiest way to do so...great video..people nead to quit playing video games and start fixing sht!

@JohnnieB64 Love to hear it man! Just wondering, is PE 28's construction similar to this one?

  • @GainasBuzz

I took a PJ38 apart and wonder if the air screw needs a rubber o-ring and washer.
Honda sells it for the carb but I see a lot of videos (yours too) where they arent put in.
It doesnt leak air without them?

Can you tell me how to remove the damn gas cable? I don't wanna pull on it because I'm scared I might break it.

@1800NoviceVillage Ive got a 2001 RM 125, cant get the damn thing started. I think im gonna try to rebuild the carb, I know its a Keihin but not sure what model. So i suggest rebuilding an rm 125 carb. Lol.

I have a 2005 rm85l and gas has just started pouring out the over flow. So I tore the carb down and checked the gaskets and float all seem to be in fine working order so I put it back together and same thing any suggestions I just ordered a carb kit and I'm going to rebuild it and see if that works.

I had to replace the throttle cable for my yz 125 02 model, and ( First time ) I am unsure if the washer clips in? Or just sits in there with the spring?

buy a book for $30.oo.. and when you do your carb then clean, inspect, and adjust your powervalves at the same time..repack your silencer also..ive heard these run with a lot of oil spooge..oil spooge is good if your not fouling plugs but can be messy and soak your packing quickly..id rather replace $20 packing every six months than $120 top ends

RawBlue Krax no... your idle circuit is clogged.
what i did to get the gum out of my pe-26 was the old standard.... lots and lots of carb clean, fine picks and wire, and high pressure air.
