I am a Currahee - was just down the road in Habbaniyah one cycle earlier (we were relieved by 1/110 from 2 BCT 28 ID). Per our BN TOC log we had about 10 contacts per day for our BN.
Like most combat veterans I could give a shit less what anyone thinks about me or my time in service as long as I have the respect of the men I served with. As Jocko points out , there is pretty significant documentation regarding everything that happened. Anytime potential civilians were killed we were independently investigated by Navy CID.
I’ve listened to Jockos podcasts for years and the depictions of combat in that part of Iraq ring true for me - that is one of the reasons I listen , because sometimes other people can better articulate your own experiences and feelings than you are able to yourself.

“Independently investigated” does not equal CID (a trash organization) going outside the wire and actually doing their job.
I guarantee Marines and Seals weren’t out getting SSI, and actual BDA on every, single, “target” Chris Kyle prosecuted. There aren’t enough drop guns to cover up what some of these clowns were doing in theater back then.

As a former Bn Asst OpsO in 2004 in Al Asad, and a Co Cmdr in 2005/6 in Fallujah, this is a precise description of what I saw. I know a whole buncha guys from 3/7 who was in Ramadi at that time.
Our SJA took statements and logged every contact in that Fallujah deployment. It was force protection.
(BTW, I do remember a Seal Team coming and detaining the wife of a bad guy in Spring '06 in Fallujah. No coordination with my battalion ahead of time. Only reason why I knew they were there is that 8th Marines denied my illum mission out in support of a Plt COP in Amariyah because little birds were in the air space. Detaining a female set my effects campaign with the Muhktars back six months.)
    Well told, sir.

      Questions you need to answer.
What evidence do you have that proves any of that nonsense actually happened ?
Why would someone need to answer those questions ? those things would have needed to take place in order for him to answer those questions.
Without any evidence, those questions are based on assumptions.
If someone tells your wife that you were cheating on her and they were told by someone that they witnessed you with another woman...
How would you prove that you weren't cheating on your wife ?
They would first need to prove that you were because there would not be any evidence of something that never happened !!!
Do you understand how that works?
Some people just aren't very good at thinking ! It is best for those people to keep their thoughts to themselves. They end up doing more harm than good. They put doubt in the minds of others which can cause people working together to turn on each other.

Prayers and love to all the families who lost a loved one and healing to all, especially the Disabled American Veterans who have to face severe hardships for the rest of their lives, as well as the large number of homeless Veterans that suffer on the streets of our nation today.
A prayer for healing to all military branches involved, including the Rangers, Marines, the Seals, Green Berets, and SOF community, and a request to love each other, forgive and let go of criticism. (Save that for the politicians).

All he says is "everybody knew XYZ", providing only the most vague outlandish accusations with zero evidence or corroboration, and painting highly complex processes as super straightforward and casual. It's simply not possible for things to have occured the way he describes them. Maybe there's some truth to what he's saying, I don't know 'cause I wasn't there, but the way he presents things is unbelievably bad faith. Hi brother! & I appreciate the way you’re thinking & yes, I was there with them. Not NSW, but as part of 1 of the 2 Infantry Platoons that took & held COP Falcon.
We fell under Bulldog 6, who was at the time CPT. Mike Bajema “Main Gun Bajema” operating out of Combat OutPost Falcon at the corner of Baseline & Route Michigan. Cleared many buildings with them, set up SKT’s to kill AQI, & capturing HVT’s.
The enemy we fought was a relentless evil most have never seen - on a never ending basis. To my understanding, Ramadi’s AQI would later become what the world knew as ISIS. The brutality was always there, they just rebranded.
I have no ideal where Eric So&So is getting these ridiculous claims, but I do wonder why a 27yrs of service Navy guy “Eric” seemed a bit unsure in many of his allegations when he wasn’t giving commentary of material he had no real idea of. It’s been 18yrs since I fought in Ramadi & I’ve NEVER forgotten anything about that hellscape. Never! Somebody should ask Eric if he remembers JUBBA. I bet he doesn’t.
Maybe he’s disgruntled, jealous about God knows what, or never had to be absolutely sure “he was going to die today”. Who knows, but the proximity to death & reexamination of this usually forces a man to become more than what he showed up as. Maybe he never got the opportunity to “be tested” in the way young men of yesteryear urn for. No Clue as to what Eric’s incentive is here but time will expose it.
Cheers brother & I hope you’re being good to yourself!

Jocko, you need to sit down with this former SEAL who has made these accusations about your colleagues and your conduct when you were leading Task Unit Bruiser.
The comments range from accusations of poor character to being complicit in actual war crimes.
Your whole brand is 'integrity'. Your fanbase deserves this.

EDITED 28/04/24 - 12 days after originally commenting. Since commenting, I have come to realise Jocko's comments about the Gaza conflict, the ongoing genocide, etc. were made (coincidentally, I'm sure) just before these accusations started.
We are about to enter yet another "summer of love". I for one am against the way Israel is conducting war and inflicting genocide upon a civilian population, and I'm even more disgusted with the way our own politicians in the West behave with Israel, as if they are under some sort of spell. However, I can smell the coming psy-op a mile off, where millions of young people have been almost lead to this place. I suspect the extension of government powers in "response" to this unrest has already been planned out well in advance. Keep your heads screwed on, guys.

In Bayji in late '05, we had a month or so where things got bad for us, but this was only a short span during our stay there. Most of the rest of the year, primarily in the Tikrit area, was fairly quiet and mundane. That bad month was where our Rakkasans ⛩⛩⛩took the first three casualties of the brigade that deployment, nearly 20% of our total for the entire year--one small FOB during one month. It could have been worse, but most of the attacks on our base were inaccurate, thankfully, and the IEDs hadn't become sophisticated enough to defeat our best armor...yet (that would come later, unfortunately, with EFPs and more complex devices).
All this to say that Bayji and Tikrit were nothing compared to Ramadi at its height. I couldn't fathom what level of hell they went through during the battle of Ramadi.

I'm going to add something about the Green Beret Chronicles in our high school football team that I had made the choice to not be a part of. For personal reasons. That team Had as much drama as some of the stuff that was brought up on that podcast, from steroids to hard drugs leading to murders and a lot of other things that never got brought up at all. Obviously, these things aren't good, but this is the reality of life.
If anyone is going to be held accountable for the war situation, we need to go to the very top and ask if we should have even been in any of those wars at all. The answer is no. We shouldn't have been there. The CIA shouldn't have created a situation to put people willing to do questionable things in the first place. "You want a killer dog, but you don't want that dog to kill. That's not how life works. Anyone who has worked at a corporation knows that there is what happened and there is a politically correct way to describe what happened. So to have some do-gooder come out and say these guys didn't do things the Boy Scout way. But neither was the enemy. If these situations are to be addressed, it needs to start from the top down officially and unofficially. For the known players to the unknown. Hold everyone accountable or hold no one accountable.
To be a human that accepts everyone, criminal or not, is very Jesus-like. To live life for the experience is a Zen-like quality. You can't do that if you're being too careful. So who has the proper way of living, Jocko style or the proper Boy Scout ethics.

The things being said and alleged are not insignificant and if they are true then it is a bit of a disappointment to us as fans of these people especially when they build a brand on integrity and honesty and brotherhood and then profit from said brands. For those interested in looking further into this check out Eric Deming’s interview with not only Brent Tucker (which is the main chunk of accusations and information) but also The Green Beret Chronicle podcast with Eric Deming. Random and unjustified killings of civilians for no reason could not happen without someone reporting it or investigating it. Look at the amount of media and investigation around the Eddie Gallagher case - that was the killing of one person - do you really think if an entire unit was out there randomly killing dozens of civilians a week it wouldn't have been reported or question until 18 years later?

What Jocko does that the critics don’t, is he cites specific people, places, dates, events, and protocols. I watched the GB Chronicles again, and it’s all anecdotes. Things they heard, what the marines were saying, like the body supposedly rolled in a carpet. Wouldn’t there be documentation of the investigation even if it was a cover up? In police work this is often what gets folks in trouble, poor, inaccurate, or fabricated reporting.
Jocko is obviously a better public speaker and a very polished story feller. But his ability to cite specifics tends to lend him more credibility imo. I don’t mean to suggest Demming and Ryan are lying, but most of their complaints are anecdotes or folks calling Jocko names.

I really dont have a dog in the fight, i like Jocko but ill never meet him, so it really doesnt matter. But, just a few reasons why i think Deming is full of shit. 1. Hes been out since 2016 or 17, he could have called Jocko out long before now. 2. The Marine account i heard from Deming was not named and used autobot to tell the story. 3. Jocko has had more Seals on then just team mates and they all hold high regards for him, unless hes gonna say all the Seals Jocko has had on are bullshit Seals. 4. Jockos got alot of love from Marines from what ive seen, pretty sure Marines would have called him out long ago. Marines at least the ones i know dont normally pussyfoot around. What has Deming do for society after he got out??? Think he just jealous. But, thats just my opinion! Its still America for now, so think what you like.

    • @renewed6250

I think it is in between. I think something like this will be the reality:
Jocko allowed for some corruption or not approved action - and/or was not able to control it
Some people on his team were total POS
Deming dislikes the negative seal culture
Deming has long sought to call it out and get it forced to change
Deming also seems to have some sort of beef after getting out - not sure what about though
Deming sees seals getting money and fame and attention by riding the seal brand (which is 100%, true. even for Jocko, although he does it at least semi-honorably in my view)
Deming seeks to call out all of the famous ones
I do find the transition from commander of TU to training a little odd, especially with no promotion coming with any of it -reeks of "put this guy somewhere that he can do as little harm as possible". But all of that, is conjecture. As far as anyone can tell - this guy simply asked around and found people who had negative things to say.
On GB chronicles...he gets cornered on "was there a rule about daytime missions? because sometimes that happens?" and he said "ok I dont know I will give him benefit of the doubt but he still put people in harms way"....ehh, seems not really vetted, his intel.
In this thread alone - you can find Marines and other people who were there (At least they claim), who thought Jocko and his team were great. You will also find people who say his team ruined progress and created chaos.
Likely, truth is somewhere in between.

The vast majority of the judgement ($1.35M) was overturned in appeals court and the US Supreme court declined to hear the appeal. Kyle's estate paid nothing.
But I think it's safe to say that, regardless of whether Kyle punched Ventura or not, based on all we've heard from Jesse, it's not even close to being unbelievable that Jesse said what Kyle accused him of saying. Which would have absolutely deserved a punch in the face.
