Super helpful for a complete newb. Thanks dude!
your video was verrryyyyyy helpful other ones didnt explain it as good as what you did i had soft volume and being a newbie you saved me :) thank you very much
Fuck yeah, bro! Glad I could help
Thank you this was helpful for setting my obs levels proper 🍻
Very well explained and very helpful!! Thanks!!
Glad you liked it! If there's any questions you have please ask or join the discord
This answered my question of why my stream was quiet regardless of my levels in OBS appearing to be good. Thank you.
Awesome! Glad to have been able to help.
everything about this video was so helpful thank you so much
Thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask
Great walk through can't wait to get home and tinker now.
Awesome! Lemme know how it works out for you and feel free to ask any questions.
Yooooo. My guy! Happy I found your channel!!!
Yoooo!!!!
Bruh. This was great man. I'm an audio engineer and this was very helpful. If you ever decide to update this, you can now use VSTs which is a game changer. I replaced the stock OBS EQ with a plugin I like. I also added a VST clipper and compressor in the chain. Got everything clear and loud. Your tip on how bad the built in metering is was SPOT ON. Good shit.
Nice one Beers and Beats. I didn't have to use the gain plugin but found your recognition of the misleading eq colouring useful to nudge the volume safely up into the deep red zone of OBS a little more than I had been doing. I use a limiter in case I ever went beyond a certain threshold and spotted that is was capped a couple of DB below the zero mark. Adjusted that to now cap a little below 0db.
Thanks for that!
I typed the above just before you added the limiter ha ha...great job sir!
Additional note. If you have VST's because you also run a DAW, OBS supports those too so you are not 'limited' to the stock limiter.
Right on! Glad you found it helpful.
Thx my man good information ℹ 💯

Thank you so much for this I’ve just put up my first DJ stream using OBS to record and it sounds really terrible 😆 it seems like when the level is too low it causes all kinds of artefacts but I’m definitely going to try everything you’ve said here thanks again dude.

@@BeersAndBeatsPDX hey I’ve just seen this
I sure will, thanks dude

Appreciate the video good stuff !
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video i cant believe ive been making do with the sound quality ive been using when.the fix os just this easy
Thanks bud! Glad to see it helped
Wow, you just made this look 100 times easier than the Pioneer official instruction! Looking forward to trying this later today!

@@BeersAndBeatsPDX Worked perfectly!! Big ups!!
@@philharmonik77 awesome!
really appreciate the video it has helped a lot. Im not streaming but just trying to have a mix and record video and audio and your video has really pointed me in the right direction for the audio, thanks again. I have used some other tips from other utubers for the video but the problem I have now is that the test recordings I have done the files are huge Ie. 35mins is over 10 gig in an MP4 recording. I assume its the video settings and just wondered if you have any pointers on how to make it smaller? maybe you already have a video on this but I wasnt able to find it.
Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon cheers
Glad you liked it and it helped! As for file size, what resolution are you saving as? 35min is a long recording and def going to take up a lot of space.
This video is 🔥🔥🔥 can't wait to try these with my settings. I see you are using an audio interface here( I use focusrite 4i4) but I have seen another video of yours where you said you can use your mixer as a sound card conected via USB. Is the sound quality not better when it comes directly from the mixer or shall I stick to focusrite? I have 900nxs2.
Thanks bro, I appreciate the kind words. I haven't done an a/b test to see what songs better. I'll def try it out soon and see how it goes
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX thank you. Looking forward to it 💪
Your audio does sound great
Thanks!
hey mate, many thanks for the interesting video. But what I'm wondering is, if I go into the interface with only one XLR cable, i.e. mono, and then move the slider in the OBS sound settings and click on "mono", is it even RIGHT stereo what comes out? isn't that rather a kind of "fake" stereo? or am i completely on the wrong track ? Hahaha....Cheers
Thank u
Big ups
I am still puzzled regarding the bitrate the soundcards (in your case BEHRINGER UMC404HD) are processing with which is in 99% cases 192 kbps. Aren't you worried about the audio quality loss or I am misinterpreting it for sth else?
What about that mono stream thing? Why did you chose the mono, is it not possible to connect the mains to separate channels (1 and 2)??
Have you ever recognised the interference/distortion in some cases? We are trying locating the problem. Hopefully when we replace the sound card for better one we may get rid of the things.
FYI this is first review of how-to analog stream in the internet. We have been fidling analog streaming (with three decks and DJM600) few years already and its rocky path, but I think we finally got the sound we like in the studio and trying to get the best setup for the digital streams.
Cheers for the review. You're the legend ;-) #vinyljunkies
Yo! Thanks for watching!
With the bitrate, 192kbps, I let the commuter handle all that. As long as the sample rate from your interface matches the samplev rate of your input program you'll be good.
I chose mono because it's less cables which in turn is less clutter. You can do stereo if you want I just didn't want to deal with multiple cables and setting multiple inputs. Most club setups are mono anyway so you're keeping in line with industry standard. The only problem with mono is that any pan effects will become volume swells. Other than that it was all about using 1 less cable.
I haven't noticed any significant interference or distortion and my setup is a mess of audio and power cables intertwined. I have noticed some very low buzz from the turntables but that I believe that's specifically a turntable issue.
confirmed my suspicion on the audio meters, i thought they werent representing it correctly. i used audition to check my actual input levels.
i have booth out and thats what i use for my line in to OBS, essentially that volume knob for booth would be my gain filter i assume yeah?
Yeah, that sounds about right. I switched and I'm going usb in to obs from the 750 and using booth for my monitors
Hey bro, Great video! I'm having the same problem with low input from my device. Even when I'm boosting the volume from my DJ desk, the volume gets ducked (On -17) like there is some kind of build-in limiter on OBS input. Does it happen to you too? Cause in my sound card (Prism Sound - Lyra2) all good! The only way to gain this input is with gain filter?
This used to happen to me years ago. OBS added a built in limiter to my audio channel. I haven't seen this happen in years though. I would check the software for your interface. For example, I use my DJM's built in sound card and the software has an automatic -5db attenuation. I noticed that different brands have signal levels represented (lights/numbers) differently and what's 0db on one piece of gear isn't 0db on a another. It could be as simple as just adding a gain filter and boosting it a bit.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX It's weird, Cause I'm using Pioneer XZ and sending it to my Sound Card (Prism Sound Lyra 2 - Looking good here) and when it comes to the OBS it just limiting the signal no matter what I do in my XZ or in the Sound card. Needless to say, There is no filter on the OBS input. SO I don't understand what is going on here! There is no youtube video about this issue - Maybe it's a Bug? But I open new scene, Restart my PC. Did everything!
I can always filter it with gain and add more volume - It just driving me crazy that I can't control this volume from my XZ !
@@tayri_ What output from your xz are you using? I'm using Rec Out and there's no way to adjust the level of that. Join the discord and I can probably help more
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX I'm using Master 1 for monitors (to hear myself) and the booth output for the soundcard. And I can control and adjust both with different knobs. I'm sorry, I don't use Discord. Email? WhatsApp? We can stay here too so people with the same problem could read late on... Thank you so much, mate! Really appreciated!
Everything to 11.
Why not just make 10 louder?
Always
Can you do a step by step connection from laptop, mixer to OBS?
I can!
thank you.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX
HI. How did you connect DJM to UMC404HD ? Thanks
Rca from my right main out to one of the inputs on the umc404hd. I chose to do mono but you can use left and right to do stereo if you want
i need help you you get n touch with me pls, I have FLX4 and obs is having issue with audio, my CUE-headphone audio is going to the live set on the playing track, there is no driver on OBS to choose.
As far as I know you can not use the Flx4 directly with obs. It only has 1 USB out that it used for connecting to dj software and can't be used as a soundcard. You'll have to go get your phono outs to an interface.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX The only problem, OBS doesnt ccept rekorbox as audio input, i hd to chose macbook speakers as audio input and with that input, cue-headphone audio is joied with played track audio.. i guess the best solution is blackhole 16 ch
@@ddjkleo I have used rekordbox in years but I can do some testing and see what I can figure out
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX i can upload a screen recording for you later on my channel and let you know, thanks for your swift reply
I never understood why DJM-750MKII mixer didn't have a REC out.
That would have made adjusting the gains so much easier.
It's weird, it doesn't have a physical rec out but if you use it as an audio interface via USB is uses the rec out channel
QUESTION QUESTION… I realize my AI takes in my Mixer as Mono. When I Record, And Remux my videos…. The audio from my mixer in the Recorded Video, it’s MONO. If I had a different AI, which had multiple 1/4” Inputs for both channels, would that solve the MONO problem when recording my videos in OBS????
Sure would.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX awesome thanks!!!!
bro you should take her on a date and leave... lol run another one of those joints 🤣🤣
....sure?
Why would you go mono into OBS???
@beersand
1 less cable and input to deal with. Club oriented music has very little stereo elements if any at all since a very high percentage of club systems are mono.
@@BeersAndBeatsPDX Yes, clubs, for sure.
But most people listening to streams from OBS aren't listening in clubs. Most are listening in their headphones or while driving in their cars -- in Stereo.
Even "Club Music" is Mastered in Stereo. Certain sounds are tracked left or right for specific reasons. It's the why the music was meant to be heard.. in Stereo.
@@jeikobu_jeikobu If you want to stream sheep go for it. For what I play it's not needed. Drum and Bass, especially older tech step, has almost no stereo effects. It's not worth the hassle for me.
who make a video about recording high quality audio then has a bunch of gross mouth noises in the recording
