    Notice that hole in the front shield? That's so that you can attach a hose to the petcock and drain through that hole without removing the shield.

    Great video... I honestly think that most cars it doesn't matter whether you put the heat on hot or not. Most cars the coolant runs through the heater core all the time and it's either vented outside or it's vented into the cabin. There is typically not a valve or switch that makes coolant flow through those heater cores. Nice job

    Thanks for the video.
    But I think you guys should watch “The Car Care Nut” episode Toyota Cooling System and Bleeding 2GR-FE to truly understand bleeding the entire system throughly. As turning on the heat to circulate through heater core doesn’t really remove air pockets.

    Toyota says you squeeze upper radiator hoses. Also why remove the shield under the car? Just reach your hand from the top and unscrew the drain plug.

    Anyway you guys can do an in depth video replacing the timing belt water pump and camshaft/crankshaft seals on a 3mz-fe AWD engine ie a 2nd gen rx330 ? Your videos helped a lot with my old ‘00 cavalier.

    So for my 2003 Toyota Highlander how much coolant do I need ?

  • @muhammedk9648
    @muhammedk9648 3 роки тому +1

    Hi. Is this process necessary if the radiator has no cap, and the filling takes place at the reservoir? I'm referring to the 2008 corolla.

    2001 3.0L where is my bleeder valve for burping if
    there is one on this engine?

    Isn't there a drain plug that needs to be removed to allow the coolant to drain from the engine block?

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 5 років тому +1

      Ed Goad there are two on the Highlander's. One is very near the oil filter and one is farther back on the block.

    No water! Use the H.O.A.T. coolent system. It's non conducting non corrosive.

    • @livetoinspireall2755

      If you have an older Toyota that calls for the RED Toyota coolant, mix 50/50 with DISTILLED Water to prevent corrosion.

    Hello ! So for Highlander V4 , how many liter for refill ?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 років тому

      +Seak Meng Depending on your options you should have between 6.5 and 9 quarts of coolant in your system when full! 1aauto.com

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 5 років тому

      Seak Meng you weren't really asking what the capacity is you wanted to know how much came out on a drain so you know how much to refill. That amount is roughly 4-6 quarts in this vehicle.

    You only turn the heat thermostat all the way on but do not turn the fan on?

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 5 років тому

      2A Gunner - the fan does nothing for the process. Actually in many cars turning the heater temperature dial to hot doesn't do anything to help this coolant process. The heater core in many cars gets circulated hot coolant regardless of what the heater dial is set to. What the heater dial would do in those cars is adjust the blend door to put more or less heat in the cabin. But hot coolant is always flowing through the core. Some cars I believe have a valve that may restrict the actual flow to the heater core but I believe those are the exception to the rule.

    • @richieschmidt6225
      @richieschmidt6225 5 років тому +2

      2A Gunner I turn the fan on too because I think SOME vehicles won’t actually turn the heater control valve on unless the fan is on.
      Also, having the fan on helps me know that the coolant is circulating.

    • @stevensevek6151
      @stevensevek6151 2 роки тому

      If you turn the heater fan on it will take longer for the engine to heat up to operating temperature and longer for the thermostat to open and to expel air from the system.

    The main water should be replaced with distilled water until the primary water disappears and then start to add the new water to the vehicle afterwards.

    You mention running the car without the radiator cap on in order to allow air to escape the system, and state "it could get messy as coolant may bubble out." #1 Not good for the environment to allow coolant to spill on the ground and then be washed off your driveway, etc. into storm drains that typically lead to waterways. #2 Not good if you have animals around that like the sweet taste of antifreeze as it will kill them if they ingest it.

    • @richcombs4805
      @richcombs4805 Рік тому +2

      1) Environmentally speaking, engine coolant is not a problem....and it is not like he's doing it over dirt and dumping 5 gallons of it. 2) Does he have to state common sense one should clean up spilled fluids????? Come on!

  • @uawsux
    @uawsux 2 роки тому

    50/50 mixtures no good that is wrong you're going to have some antifreeze in the water jackets in the engine etc in the water pump all throughout that area all you do is drain the radiator you cannot use a 50-50 mixture cuz now you are interfering with whatever mix has been dilapidated all the electrolytics are out of it that are in the engine block right now you have not done this correctly.... all I wanted to know was where the plugs were on a V6 that's not even a V6

    Dont unscrew petcock all the way and make sure the coolant is cooled all the way before attempting to drain...ask me how i know 🥹
