Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's sound track is legendary with this game as well as his others, I dare say this one rivals Daytona USA. I kinda wish he'd give Sega Rally some of the treatment he has given tracks like Pounding Pavement and Let's Go Away. Also the guy might be known for his "Engrish" but there is one video of him performing Let's Go Away that shows he's a true musician at heart, the fun he appears to be having is simply contagious. Dude is still going strong with a release of a track for SSB Ultimate as well, this guy is an essential part of gaming.
When I bought my Saturn in very early 1997, I got five games with it, four of which were free bonuses...NiGHTs (which was not free, but I got the 3D Pad with it), a three pack with Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop and Daytona USA, and Sega Rally Championship. I must say that, of the free games I easily got the most out of VF2 and Sega Rally. Had so much fun with them. Still own them to this day (as well as my original, playable Saturn...really durable after 23 years).
Saaame lol what made the Japanese sega Saturn so amazing is that the Saturn wasn’t that great at doing home conversions of segas model 2 arcade games except for the virtua cop series, last Bronx and sega rally, but seeing how close sega rally was to ACTUALLY looking like it’s monster sega model 2 arcade bother was jaw dropping, and sega was marketed as a 2D powerhouse not a 3D so seeing sega rally for the first time really showed you what sega model 3 on the sega Saturn would have looked like if done arcade perfectly

I can say that the N-Gage "port" is not a port at all, or it's not even "SEGA Rally Championship", but of course everyone knows that. The GBA version looks better in the GBA screen, or a smaller screen. It's normal that 3D games in GBA look horrible (Or too lowres) in big screens, but that is also commont knowledge. My favorite port of course is the PC version with D3D patch.
And just a year later, Sega delivered the Scud Race arcade. They were completely at the forefront of emerging technology back in the day. I still don't understand to this day how they were the hardware manufacturer to bow out of the race. The US side had too much power, I guess.
I had the PC version back when it was released (and still have it) and the graphics were indeed glitchy back then. It had 8bit and 16bit colour modes, the 2nd looking much brighter, but it was very slow on all but the fastest systems. Sega eventually released an MMX patch which vastly sped up the game on processors with the MMX extensions - it made a huge difference. You can also find a D3D version floating around on the web which was released with one of the original 3DFX cards. The Saturn version is still my favourite version though as it feels the most like the Arcade version.
I just did a little search and I found an unofficial D3D patch (based on the D3D version) to apply on regular versions. It's now much better graphically.
In Sega Rally 2006, we have all original courses remastered, plus we have all 3 cars too, the Celica, Delta, and the Stratos! The physics are somewhat different from the other games, but it's still a really good Sega Rally game! :D
@@turrican4d599 Its also highly unfortunate that the Career mode is all Japanese. Sure, you can learn what the buttons do and navigate around the menus like that, but yeah...Did try the career out, it was pretty cool, although...japanese.
Great video, great memories. Myself and a friend invested several thousand pounds on this in the arcade back in the mid 90s (when college funds were low enough as it was!) but we were damn competitive and good at it. I remember only having the Stratos as a hidden car, it had no car graphics and you could only see the best times if you managed to set a best time with it! After that, even though I was (and am) a big Saturn fan, it never really compared.
Ruaidhri O'Baoill Now that is an impressive time. Myself, mostly played he Saturn version but man, was I good back in the day. Finishing first place on every track including lakeside wasn't even a challenge. These days I'm awful at the game :(

And while I do think that having all 3 getting a PC release can be a luxury for PC gamers, I do think it would be nice if they got a digital re-release on places like Steam or GOG with Windows 10 compatibility improvements. And let's not forget console ports either (particularly the Switch in terms of the first two games.)!
I'd love Sega to release a Model 2 Arcade collection on physical media. It could contain so many great games such as Daytona, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop 2, Fighting vipers, Last Brox, Star wars Arcade (well, maybe not due to licencing), Rail Chase 2, Toy Fighter, Sega Touring Cars and so many more. The Sega Model 2 arcade board was amazing for its time.

Great video. Very interesting to know the difference between the versions. I'm on the hunt for the Saturn Import now. And it is a shame about the 360 version missing some of the classic tracks.
It's a gem on the Saturn; I own it. The deluxe arcade cabinet of this is really sweet, too. Played it at Showtime Bowl in Athens, GA back in April 2014, but for $1, that's too expensive for such an old game.
You can't put a price on a decent Arcade SEGA Rally experience to be fair. I'd happily pay £1-2 for a credit if the controls were all functioning. (Sadly, most the ones in the UK now, the steering, gears, pedals or all are completely shot :( )
Yeah, the Xbox 360 version is really good. The N-Gage game is actually a different game though. I really wanted to show the Japanese mobile phone version. It's like a mini Saturn port. I own the game but it won't run because the phone was locked when I changed carrier :(
One of only an hand full of games that I bought a JP PS2 in order to play it!! The genuine official Sega PS2 port/emulation release is a really great game :-)
Yakumo1975 I know it was only the second game i got for my saturn back in 95 along with x-men and was instantly hooked i had not had much time with the arcade version coz it was always in use by others when i visited so to have it at home was incredible and was blown away, the graphics also hold up extremely well today! man 19 years ago i'm getting old lol.
Great stuff! The first thing that hit me upon first encountering this game in the arcade was the resolution. The second thing was the sheer sense of weight and flight when going over the bumps. Amazing stuff. The only version I ever really got to know well, was the PAL Saturn version. Which at the time, was a miracle of playability. And still is. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't yet tried the 360 Arcade version.
Typical. I'll have to hope that, that content will become available again in some form in the future. Hopefully as some kind of extra on a disc release. But I won't hold my breath. They give it, then they take it away or the server is cancelled. As you say the future of gaming....Anyway, great show as usual!
The Saturn version is legendary and the most memorable, but I guess the PS2 version is the most accurate port due to 60fps and a closer resolution to Model 2. Another really good comparison, thanks. Didn't know there was an N-Gage version!
Man, the 2006/7 reboot of Sega Rally is criminally underrated; what a great update. Just a shame about the missing tracks as you mentioned. If SEGA have any sense, they should remaster it with the extra tracks. I think I'd pay full price for that!! Have you seen that you can get a tool to play SEGA PC based arcade games on a standard PC. You should do a video on that (or just SEGA Rally 3 ;) )
You'd be surprised! I had it running in a Virtual Machine! The original machine was a mere pentium D with a GeForce 8800 so it works surprisingly well even on modest modern hardware.
Sega Rally 2006 on PS2 has a rally cup that has remakes of all the 1995 tracks :) There's also a mod for the PC version of 1995 that enhances the graphics (adds fogging and texture smoothing, etc)
Just to clear some stuff up, the US Saturn version did have analog controls, both for the analog controller as well as the racing wheel, just no options referring to them. Also, I remember the Win95 port being just as glitchy then... I think it's due to the fact that the Saturn and Model 2 rendered quadrilateral polygons instead of triangles since a lot of the missing spots look triangular in shape... they probably had to split every quad poly into two triangles to make it work with standard 3D hardware, but I doubt they properly optimized the game engine itself to accommodate that. Geez, I'm commenting a lot :-P
I just check my newly acquired PC version because I don't remember being this glitchy. I played Desert and I didn't see much graphical corruption but then I tried Forest and yeah ... kind of messy. However, I found thanks to the comments here, there is a D3D version of the game and thankfully, some fans made a unofficial patch so regular versions can use D3D. It's much better but I can still see polygon problems in Forest.
Great vid. Played the saturn vetsion to death when released. Could finish 1st on lakeside using the wheel innmanual mode whilst drunk. I was a master at this daytona and wipeout back in the day. Play it now ln the 360 using my gamepod fanatec csr elite set up on a 120 " projector. Great experience!!
Late to the party, but the Win PC ver always had the polygon glitches. SEGA Saturn ver still the king for this game IMO. Though I'm tempted to get a PS2 for it.
Im with u Retro Core when you said that you would gladly pay extra for the remake of all the tracks. I dont like pay for DLC but Sega Rally 95 is in my top 5 exceptions for that rule. Man i remember how many money i spent playing the arcade years ago... ahh memories...
I could be wrong though. An easy way to check is to play the 2nd course and see if there's a mountain that moves with the track after the tunnel. If there is then it's the European version.
ok... last post. didnt know its on the 360.gonna have to look into gettin it on my kids 360. wish there was a 360 in the house when outrun was available. at least i get to play daytona ( when he's not playin battlefield or cod), which i think is great on 360.
Just ordered a chipped slim ps2 and a Japanese copy of this with Sega Rally 2006. I hope it all works cuz I fucking love this game. Pissed that you can’t get these games on Xbox Live or PSN. Sega should release Sega Rally 1995, Virtua Racing, Touring Car Championship, Rad Mobile and Scud Race on the newer consoles. We’ve only got Daytona USA as it stands.
Just had to use the Impreza in the GBA version, eh? ;) If you need footage for Model 2 games in the future, I can help. My PC can handle recording most emulated m2 games without any issues. Got a few videos on my channel right now.
Thanks very much for the offer. I may take you up on that. I can play model 2 and record video at the same time using my desk top but it's not powerful enough to record in 720p at 60fps. Can you record at such a high frame rate in 702p?
I can do some as high as 1080/60p. A few others I have to either knock down to 720 or record at 30fps. Just depends. Message me on twitter if you want a recording. I'll see how the computer handles the game in question and let you know the results.
+Retro Core Actually, the Desert track from Sega Rally Championship actually appears in Sega Rally 2. To access it, you can choose Time Attack and choose Desert SS2 to play it.
Pretty sure, yeah. Sega Retro doesn't have it as a system link enabled game, and in all this time I've never seen an option on the menu screen or any other way to play it. It has Netlink, though, you're right about that.
Nope. Another way to tell is that system link enabled games will have the taisen cable designation on the back of the case. No versions of Sega Rally have that, including the Satakore version.
Saturn & PS2 are a close tie as best home console versions . (Saturn is just ahead :)) Castrol for ever! Very cool that the PS2 uses M2 emulation, I wonder if the romset can be replaced so it plats Daytona, or house of the dead or others?? Maybe even someone super clever could make a standalone version of the emulator, and then we will have a M2 emulator in the PS2 homebrew scene, but u think that's more of a fantasy at this point heheh. :)
So is the Japanese version of sega rally seen here on the Saturn arcade perfect ? Because everyone knows that the Saturn couldn’t pull off model 2 arcade ports at all, but on the back of the Japanese game case for sega rally it shows a little depiction of the arcade machine with an Arrow pointing to the sega Saturn meaning straight from the arcades to the Saturn lol
Obviously you couldn't understand what the Japanese text is saying. Its nit saying this is an arcade perfect port but now you can experience Sega Rally at home.
Retro Core Question retro core, this is completely off topic of this video but I need a answer finally lol, ok so the GunCon 1 for the PS1 that big gray gun is that an exact replica/ model of the one used on the actual time crisis arcade machines just made for the home counsel also with no recoil, but still look like the one connected to the arcade machine
tightlypackedcoil I doubt the GBA can run lots of polygons at once- if it can, then it'll probably result in god-awful framerates. So I think it used point sampled sprites like you said.
Bad Stuff i agree, I was referring to the part where he wrote "I would like to have the option to switch off the textures and just have flat shaded polygons."
+Retro Core I didn't know about there being actually different ports of SR2 for PC. A thing that should have been added on the comparison though, if Sega Rally Online Arcade sole track could be included, at least it may could have been added in the comparison the SR2 Console/PC Desert SS2 (A.K.A. SR1 Desert).
Hello im doing a comparison on this for my channel (well a request really) where did you get the N-Gage footage from as i cannot find working emulator?
Retro Core is there any chance I can use around 2.5 - 3 mins of footage ..... I do in order of greatness and I know it's gonna be either last or 2nd last after the gba version....just seems a shame to leave a port out. I will of course link your channel in and thank you for the footage
@@RetroCore hello can you let me know either way of I can use this? I'm not in the habit of stealing or using other people's content as you will see if you check out my channel but I've exhausted all avenues with this on :-(
You can use my footage as long as you credit for it. To download the footage from UA-cam you can use a plug-in for the Firefox browser that lets you download videos.
I have the windows version, but never cared for it. I had never played the arcade game, but I played one of the Sega Rally games on (I think) the Dreamcast in a store and remembered liking it, so when I saw this game for $5 in a local closeout store, I bought it. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Compared to Need for Speed II SE, the graphics seemed quite cartoon-like and the whole game just seemed kind of clunky. I quickly got bored with the three tracks and uninstalled the game.
Wait, the PS2 version was through emulation?! So then why didn't we see more Model 2 games brought over? They could have made a compilation with VF2, Daytona, Sega Rally, etc... I would have bought a PS2 back then just for that alone! History has changed me from a Sega fanboy into a Sega skeptic... there have just been too many stupid mistakes on their part over the decades, and I was only a fanboy because I was oblivious to it all.
Probably because Sega "lost" or threw away the original arcade code. VF2 had to be reprogrammed due to this. Sega most likely still had the source code for Sega Rally.
i love this game!To make it clear I LOVE THIS GAME. when i first saw the arcade cabinet i lost 4 teeth. If you saw arcade machines after Sega Rally you will never find that feeling. The saturn version was not the full experience but with the arcade racer wheel it had the sega racing feeling. PC version sucked. Ps 2 version with a FFB wheel is as methadon to heroin. Ngage version (yes i had Ngage) was not Sega was not Rally. Never had a GBA so no comment. I love arcade racers i love more sega arcade racers but nothing will be like that game again ever!
I know I'm going to get stoned for this but even as a kid back in 1995 or 1996 I thought the Saturn version of Sega Rally looked terrible compared to the arcade version. The arcade version looked great while the Saturn version was a pixelated mess. I was never a fan of the gameplay either so to me this really wasn't the game to display with the SEGA Saturn at an electronics store. Consoles and the games on those consoles in the mid 90s really didn't impress me. Arcades is where it was at in the mid 90s and finally in 1999 with the Dreamcast we got arcade quality graphics for a home console where we didn't have to suffer with these shoddy ports and graphics from a few years prior.
GhostBlade I was exactly the same way back then. I hated console 3d. I didn't bug my parents for a Saturn or PS1, I just went to the arcade which was booming with tons of classic games. Still I thought the Sega Rally port on Saturn was impressive, and probably the best looking Model 2 game on Saturn (I wasn't impressed by VF2, other games like House of the Dead were just smh disappointing compared to the arcade)
+Marcel Weber very well indeed but make sure to get the Japanese version for all the correct arcade background graphics. A lot of them were changed in the western release. Plus the Japanese version has that bonus training disc.
Every time I'm reminded of how sublime the Saturn port of this game was, it just makes me angry to know that Daytona could have been just as good if Sega's executives hadn't all been on crack back then and rushed the Saturn's launch. I also can't figure out how Daytona CCE was so horrible (say what you will, but the gameplay and controls are just terrible) when it was developed by the same team that did the Sega Rally port. They should've been told to make a direct port and not try to take their own artistic license with it, cuz they just ruined it. The music was terrible too, although Richard Jacques's remixes of the original tunes weren't bad, but that singing was just awful, and not in the charming so-bad-it's-good way the original game's vocals were.
Again, the US version just like Sega Rally is far worse than the japanese version. The handling in the US Daytona CCE is bloody awful while the Japanese version is much better but still not perfect. Also the Japanese version has the original Daytona music as well as the crappy remixed music.
bombjack If you think using voxels to render natural landscape looks bad, it's even worse when it's used to render artificial structures with distinct details, like in Crazy Taxi - Catch a Ride for the GBA. He should do a video on the Crazy Taxi ports as there is plenty of material there.
The PS2, Saturn, and Windows versions are self explanatory: (Near) Arcade perfect ports. Looking at the other versions.... The GBA version is impressive, but sadly, impressive doesn't always equal good... the graphics are just plain AWFUL. I thought I was looking at a Commodore 64 at first given how blocky the graphics are. N-Gage... what the fuck. Although it looks a lot better, it's not even close to the arcade.... Xbox 360 version, like in Daytona USA, seems to be the ultimate version. It looks amazing.
How the hell can you make a game that plays as well as this for home users...and only give it four tracks? It still baffles me 20 plus years on. 2 player mode was a joy. But again, 4 tracks vs Colin Marie's multiple tracks...and please don't tell me that its because SRC isn't a sim. £40 for 4 tracks....shameful.
The handheld ports are disappointing. The GBA has V-Rally 3 and N-Gage had a cracking version of Colin MaCrae, so no good reason for those versions of Sega Rally look so bad.
Are you kidding me? Lmao the PS2 Version is a straight up arcade perfect home version, even retro core said they used the EXACT sega model 2 arcade hardware code and slapped it on the PS2, thus making it 💯% identical to the sega model 2 version Don’t worry retro I got y’all back man ❤️
the GBA version is the worst affront to my eyes I've seen in a while, and it's not like there aren't other textured 3D games on the machine that run and look better
That PS2 version's textures look way too repetative compared to the Arcade emulation or Saturn or PC. This version can't be straight emulation, it looks terrible in comparison to the emulation footage shown right before it.
Retro Core, I don't think so. The tiles are way smaller even on the ground textures and the colors are off. Model 2 emulator filters he textures too and doesn't look like that.
I actually upload my videos to my own site which are in better quality than Dailyupload and available in 30fps or 60fps. The uploads on the official site are about 3 weeks behind UA-cam though so that I don't step on any toes with my UA-cam partnership provider. My sites URL is segagagadomain.com. there you can find links to the Battle of the Ports videos.
The Saturn version is amazing.

I know it was only the second game i got for my saturn back in 95 along with x-men and was instantly hooked i had not had much time with the arcade version coz it was always in use by others when i visited so to have it at home was incredible and was blown away, the graphics also hold up extremely well today! man 19 years ago i'm getting old lol.
Game Over.
Yeah!
Im afraid that the 360 version is no longer available :( that's the future of gaming thanks to Digital Distribution. Yeah for the future of gaming :(
Im afraid that the 360 version is no longer available :( that's the future of gaming thanks to Digital Distribution. Yeah for the future of gaming :(
Typical. I'll have to hope that, that content will become available again in some form in the future. Hopefully as some kind of extra on a disc release. But I won't hold my breath. They give it, then they take it away or the server is cancelled. As you say the future of gaming....Anyway, great show as usual!
Yep, Digital Downloads are a load of crap. The only people who seem to really like them are PC gamers due to services such as Steam.
Don't bother playing the 360 arcade or the modern version. They're not the same thing, not even worth your time.
The Saturn version is legendary and the most memorable, but I guess the PS2 version is the most accurate port due to 60fps and a closer resolution to Model 2.
Another really good comparison, thanks. Didn't know there was an N-Gage version!
There's quite a few big name games on the N-Gage. Just ashame there's no real emulator out there to play them.
Back in the day one magazine article said that Sega Rally will be surpassed by Sega Touring Car Championship.
They were so wrong.
Indeed. The Arcade version is much better but it is any where near Sega Rally levels.
I doubt my PC would play them. It's just a 2nd generation i7.
You'd be surprised! I had it running in a Virtual Machine! The original machine was a mere pentium D with a GeForce 8800 so it works surprisingly well even on modest modern hardware.
Sega needs to make Sega Rally 2006 compatible for the Series X.
the Sega Rally on PS2 has hidden options by holding select+start at start screen.
Sega Rally 2006 on PS2 has a rally cup that has remakes of all the 1995 tracks :)
There's also a mod for the PC version of 1995 that enhances the graphics (adds fogging and texture smoothing, etc)
Nice. I'll have to check them out.
Best Graphics - Arcade Version
Best Audio - Saturn and PC Vesrions
I just check my newly acquired PC version because I don't remember being this glitchy. I played Desert and I didn't see much graphical corruption but then I tried Forest and yeah ... kind of messy.
However, I found thanks to the comments here, there is a D3D version of the game and thankfully, some fans made a unofficial patch so regular versions can use D3D. It's much better but I can still see polygon problems in Forest.
I guess this game just doesn't work on modern PC's. I really need an old XP system to see if it will run correctly on that.
Hi Mate I remember the Windows version running just like yours
Ah, good to hear it isn't just mine that runs like this.
The only thing i dont miss on saturn games is the clipping.
To be far, all systems had that, even now with some less qualified developed games.
Same here. I was the master of Saturn Sega Rally back in the day. Not anymore though. Still, I love playing it.
Same here. I was the master of Saturn Sega Rally back in the day. Not anymore though. Still, I love playing it.
Late to the party, but the Win PC ver always had the polygon glitches. SEGA Saturn ver still the king for this game IMO. Though I'm tempted to get a PS2 for it.
Well that would explain the ugly look on my video. I agree that the Saturn port is still the king when it comes to playability.
Im with u Retro Core when you said that you would gladly pay extra for the remake of all the tracks. I dont like pay for DLC but Sega Rally 95 is in my top 5 exceptions for that rule. Man i remember how many money i spent playing the arcade years ago... ahh memories...
Sadly we'll never get the extra tracks :(
Retro Core very true T_T
Sega Rally 2 for Dreamcast and PC too has a recreation of the original Desert course
Sega rally 2 on Dreamcast looked and in my opinion played the best....
Good vid. Oh dear, looks like I'm buying the Saturn version plus the 360 one, if it's still available!
damn, you deserve more subs and reproductions!
Cheers man. I agree :) please tell your friends about the channel and ask them to tell their friends.
If only Sega had put in as much work with Saturn Daytona as they had this, things might of gone a little better for the Saturn at launch.
Sadly Saturn Daytona was a really bad rush job. But at least it plays really well.
I know this is late, but a heads up, Sega Rally Online Arcade is actually a port of Sega Rally 3, the arcade counter-part to Sega Rally Revo.
It is? I never knew that. Thanks for the info.
Cool videos
Thanx for the video. I didn't know there was a Xbox 360 version. o.O
there isn't anymore. It's been taken down. I only found out after making this video.
Hmm, I may have made an error there. I'll have to re-check that info.
Don't worry, Retro Core is coming back soon with my voice and face too :p
Maybe. I think Brazil got the US version. Only the PAL European version and JPN versions are complete.
I could be wrong though. An easy way to check is to play the 2nd course and see if there's a mountain that moves with the track after the tunnel. If there is then it's the European version.
+Retro Core Can i ask you a question about emulation?
Sure but I'm not really an expert on anything.
the gba version looks completely 2d sprite-based like afterburner, rad mobile, galaxy force ii etc.
ok... last post. didnt know its on the 360.gonna have to look into gettin it on my kids 360. wish there was a 360 in the house when outrun was available. at least i get to play daytona ( when he's not playin battlefield or cod), which i think is great on 360.
Its no longer available for the 360 or PS3. Bummer :(
Its no longer available for the 360 or PS3. Bummer :(
oh god the n gage version lol
Just ordered a chipped slim ps2 and a Japanese copy of this with Sega Rally 2006. I hope it all works cuz I fucking love this game. Pissed that you can’t get these games on Xbox Live or PSN. Sega should release Sega Rally 1995, Virtua Racing, Touring Car Championship, Rad Mobile and Scud Race on the newer consoles. We’ve only got Daytona USA as it stands.
They well should do that and make them a physical set. I'd buy it for sure.
Well, Virtua racing will come Sega Ages on the Switch eshop, so there's a start.
Just had to use the Impreza in the GBA version, eh? ;)
If you need footage for Model 2 games in the future, I can help.
Saturn Memories great stuff. 720p at 60fps would be perfect. Next time I do model 2 stuff I'll be sure to ask for your help :). Thanks!

GAME OVER YEAH!!!!!
If you included the 360 version, the dreamcast version also has redone graphics/tracks.
I know but the design isn't 100% the same from what I remember unlike the 360 game.
+Retro Core Actually, the Desert track from Sega Rally Championship actually appears in Sega Rally 2. To access it, you can choose Time Attack and choose Desert SS2 to play it.
For the record the Saturn port didn't have 2 player system link. Some versions had Netlink though.
Are you sure about that? Japanese Satakore re-release is the ultimate port for the Saturn. Pretty sure that has link options.
Pretty sure, yeah. Sega Retro doesn't have it as a system link enabled game, and in all this time I've never seen an option on the menu screen or any other way to play it. It has Netlink, though, you're right about that.
Wow, I always thought it had system link for some reason.
Nope. Another way to tell is that system link enabled games will have the taisen cable designation on the back of the case. No versions of Sega Rally have that, including the Satakore version.
Saturn & PS2 are a close tie as best home console versions . (Saturn is just ahead :))
Castrol for ever!
I would imagine the emulator being heavly modified just to run this game.
that pc port looks pretty damn good. this may be a stupid question but does it support the logitech wheels
I don't know I'm afraid. Nothing is mentioned but it may do.
I don't know I'm afraid. Nothing is mentioned but it may do.
tengo la versión de ps2 con una etiqueta de la revista Famitsū PS , me gusta tus videos
Creo que todos son así.
Here again asking if there's any differences between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the Sega Rally Championship Online game?
Sorry, I can't help you there. I've never played the PS3 version
Let's hope they're the same ports without any downgrades or less in game content.
TheUpliftingGuy I would imagine they are the same.
I know that is a arcade racer, but the aceleration of the cars are of the SCALE!!! 0-200 km/h in 4 seconds!
Ah, nothing better than living in a world of fantasy. :)
Sega rally online arcade? Looks more like a 360 port of Sega rally 3 though, because I played Sega rally 3.
+supah retarrded maryo In fact, it is, but at 30 fps.
Ariel Moll Ikr
Is the GBA one actually pushing polygons? I was pretty sure those are just point sampled sprites.
tightlypackedcoil I doubt the GBA can run lots of polygons at once- if it can, then it'll probably result in god-awful framerates. So I think it used point sampled sprites like you said.
Bad Stuff i agree, I was referring to the part where he wrote "I would like to have the option to switch off the textures and just have flat shaded polygons."
tightlypackedcoil You can clearly see that the GBA version of Sega Rally is using sprites at 18:36.
I have a Mobile version installed on my old phone. But how to extract java file on my phone?
That's the problem. On my old Japanese java phones I have a lot of exclusive titles but getting them off the phone is an unknown process.
Please comparasion of Sega Rally 2. Arcade, DC ( two version) , PC ( multiple version) and that all...
PC multiple versions would be hard due to not owning Al the different graphics cards.
I don't have that though :(
Disgraceful lack of RS Cosworth content in this vid!
Hello im doing a comparison on this for my channel (well a request really) where did you get the N-Gage footage from as i cannot find working emulator?
It's been so long since I did this video I can't remember. I think I asked a friend to source it for me.
Thanks and of course ill credit you and thankyou for the footage
I have the windows version, but never cared for it. I had never played the arcade game, but I played one of the Sega Rally games on (I think) the Dreamcast in a store and remembered liking it, so when I saw this game for $5 in a local closeout store, I bought it. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. Compared to Need for Speed II SE, the graphics seemed quite cartoon-like and the whole game just seemed kind of clunky. I quickly got bored with the three tracks and uninstalled the game.
The GBA version look terrible on my 55" HD TV. Outrun is said to be the best Home version on the Saturn.
The Japanese Saturn version is the best as it also includes the remixed music.
N-GAGE Version :
easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, easy right, GAME OVER YEAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!! =D great game !
before looking at the comments that was my thought!!! I miss the Arcade, damnit.
European right. Very long easy left maybe, FINISHHHHH
Turn Right: The Tacophone Game
Yakumo1975 I don't doubt that, except you don't need the source code to emulate a game, just a dump of the ROMs.
i love this game!To make it clear I LOVE THIS GAME. when i first saw the arcade cabinet i lost 4 teeth.
+零 to 百 real quick Last Bronx is another Model 2 game that translated really well to the Saturn.
+Marcel Weber very well indeed but make sure to get the Japanese version for all the correct arcade background graphics. A lot of them were changed in the western release. Plus the Japanese version has that bonus training disc.
GhostBlade think the poor port of Daytona elevated Sega rally but yes can definitely see your point.
Yakumo1975 Aaah, I didn't know that! I'll have to give that a look.
Isn't the 360 version 30fps? That makes it not worth the time.
Seem to be 60fps to me. The game is silky smooth.
It's 30fps on 360/PS3 though. Just like Sega Rally Revo on the same consoles.
I see. They've done a good job at keeping it smooth.
The GBA port of Sega Rally is made up of 2D sprites and voxels, so your comments about its "textures" and "polygons" aren't applicable.
oh well, that would explain why it looks so blocky then.
I thought that, too chunky for polygons.
Voxels on a 240x160 screen is not a good idea.
bombjack If you think using voxels to render natural landscape looks bad, it's even worse when it's used to render artificial structures with distinct details, like in Crazy Taxi - Catch a Ride for the GBA.
He should do a video on the Crazy Taxi ports as there is plenty of material there.
Tempora158 True, Crazy Taxi was pretty bad. The GBA suffered quite a few overambitious ports, SSX 3 and the various Need for Speeds spring to mind.
Back when this was released, 4 tracks was acceptable. Don't forget, this is an arcade port not a game made for home systems.
Yeah...you're right!
You forgot to add java mobile port of sega rally, It is worse than n-gage port, but it has better physics, controls and gameplay.
Sadly I couldn't get it for this video.
@@RetroCore I have it on nokia N95 8Gb, but I don't know how to record it
The handheld ports are disappointing. The GBA has V-Rally 3 and N-Gage had a cracking version of Colin MaCrae, so no good reason for those versions of Sega Rally look so bad.
The ps2 version has textures worst than the arcade version.
Are you kidding me? Lmao the PS2 Version is a straight up arcade perfect home version, even retro core said they used the EXACT sega model 2 arcade hardware code and slapped it on the PS2, thus making it 💯% identical to the sega model 2 version
Don’t worry retro I got y’all back man ❤️
the GBA version is the worst affront to my eyes I've seen in a while, and it's not like there aren't other textured 3D games on the machine that run and look better
That PS2 version's textures look way too repetative compared to the Arcade emulation or Saturn or PC. This version can't be straight emulation, it looks terrible in comparison to the emulation footage shown right before it.
Could be texture filtering?
Retro Core, I don't think so. The tiles are way smaller even on the ground textures and the colors are off. Model 2 emulator filters he textures too and doesn't look like that.
hi please upload your videos on Daily Motion. it has far better quality and its way faster in loading.
Thanks for another great comparison.
Yakumo1975 WOW super service. its realy nice to watch games at full speed. The UA-cam thing is understandable.
THANKS
WTF? You completely missed the Dreamcast??? Shameful!
WTF!! Indeed. The Dreamcast game is a completely different game. Please check before you comment. You just make yourself look silly.
That's not the Arcade version. Its some whack ass emulator.
Game Over.
Yeah!
Cool videos
