    These models are designed to have a little flex for more comfort, acting like a suspension, fixing them down to a pannier rack isn't a good idea, unless it's a seat designed to be fixed on this way, which these aren't.

      Interesting point! They always looked like they were bouncing too much to me without the back-rack underneath. Maybe the kids I saw were towards the heavier end than the seat was designed for :)

      @@TheCheapBikeChannel I think they're rated for 22kgs/3 stone ish. You're probably right. my son is 15kgs and i dont have any stability issues. Also, they come with a strap that is designed to tie around your seatpost or the seat tube, for extra stability. Secured properly it takes alot of the flex away. Cheers

    Mine is rated for up to 22kg

    Thank you helped us out. We just got it second hand. Could you please go through Akka the parts so we can check if we have every thing

    I had a Weeride at the front of the bike for years and would totally recommend it!! Not sure why you don't think it's safe - you are completely surrounding them with your arms and can chat along to them the whole time

      Until someone opens a car door in front of you

    • @woowar

      That goes for cycling in general - stay away from cars that could potentially have a door swing out at you. The WeeRide is an awesome seat that allows for the child to get to know how to ride a bike from the front, not sitting passively in the back

      Fair enough =)

    Hi, appreciate the review but your suggestion that handlebar bike seats are less safe for kids is misleading. The handlebar style is probably best and safest for tiny kids (from say 1-3 years) and is easier to ride due to less impact on handling, but all styles are safe (so long as correctly fitted). In an accident, so much depends on what the accident is and no reliable studies have been done on which type is best. Your suggestion that most bicycle crashes are head on is not based on fact, probably the most common type of bike accident is a falling slide sideways which can damage a child no matter what type of seat they're in. Cycle carefully and have fun whatever seat you choose!!

      Hello - thanks for watching and your feedback - yes fair points - on the whole this channel is about cycling on a low budget in urban areas. And the main and most dangerous incidents I've had, is motorists opening their car doors without looking, so the impact is at the front of the bike (because it's not possible to brake in time). I talk about it more in the "alternative safety tips" video.

    Hi, great video! I have the bubbly maxi FF version at present and I love it but my 14 month old needs more support for when she dozes off, does the Koolah provide better head rest support? And do you happen to know if any other brands are compatible with the bracket?
    Cheers

    • @TheCheapBikeChannel
      @TheCheapBikeChannel  2 роки тому

      Hello - I think Koolah is the same model just with a different name? There may be generic models in supermarkets / DIY stores that fit in the same bracket, but they look exactly the same too! I haven't seen a model with head and neck support, but you could buy that part separately from amazon: amzn.to/3O7PHpC Good luck!

    I can't get it on my Gazelle Orange ebike. First I have to remove my saddle and once I finally installed it and install my saddle again I can't put my saddle on the lowest position what is the right position of the saddle for me. Anybody who knows a solution? I was looking forward to cycle with my 13 months old granddaughter today. 🤔

      Ask a bike shop to help, or get a new bike seat that goes on the front of the frame. If the child was older, she could sit directly on the battery and just hold on to you....

  • @chubbu28
    @chubbu28 3 роки тому

    When do you actually install it

    Thanks for the video. I got one of these seats off Facebook. (The ones which just need the bracket on the bar) However wasn’t sure which way the bracket went. Mine fits but bounces alot. Would love to know more about this back bracket You can put underneath. Where do you get it from?

      Decathlon! 26 euros... They are sold flat though - you need to assemble it with an Allen key. Good luck!

    My seat is low as I am short, do you think it will still work

    • @TheCheapBikeChannel
      @TheCheapBikeChannel  4 роки тому

      Yes it shouldn't make any difference - the seat connects to the frame below.

      I’m 5”4 so my seat is also low and I’ve had no difficulties although it did mean I had to removed the rack but the seat is still super sturdy and my 14 month old loves it and so do I!

    Hi could you suggest what back rack pannier to use with my carrera 29er wheel set . Do most back racks fit with this child seat or will i find problems with some

    • @TheCheapBikeChannel
      @TheCheapBikeChannel  Рік тому

      Hello - yes most back-racks fit underneath it, the space is very wide between the feet. I usually buy one you assemble yourself, which is adjustable to size, like this one: amzn.to/45e7xkm

    My bike has a shifter cable running along the back of the seat tube. Is installing this seat going to interfere with that cable working as it should?

    • @TheCheapBikeChannel
      @TheCheapBikeChannel  5 років тому

      No - there's always a small gap between the child seat and bike frame, unless you use bungee chords to pull it down
