- Quite possibly the best opening scene in a movie that becomes more surreal with every passing year. Idiocracy was ahead of its time and the opening scene-NO, the whole movie still hold ups. This is why I think Idiocracy the movie has the best opening scene.
What is Idiocracy?
Idiocracy is a 2006 American science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge and co-written by Judge and Etan Cohen. The plot follows U.S. Army librarian Joe Bauers, who wakes up five hundred years in the future after a botched government hibernation experiment to find himself in a dystopian society run by corporations, where evolution has made humanity stupid because the benefits of technology made it unnecessary for people to be intelligent and physically fit to survive. The cast includes Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Terry Crews, David Herman, Justin Long, Andrew Wilson, and Brad Jordan.

Are you doing film analysis for a living? So accurate
Now it's an operational manual for the republican Party.
When outside genders consume opposite gender DNA hormones and human growth hormone and opposing blood types new viruses are made and spread directly and goes down a drain meanwhile the girl stays to look like a boy and the guys are fat yet all reproduce to have somene to take care of them
Every time I see this opening, I get depressed. Too freaking accurate.
Its because its a documentary
In the US the birthrate is below the replacement rate. Alot of young people are chosing not to have kids because the cost of living is to high and without immigration or population would shrink.
@@darthtechnologies553 The Writers on the Script had the Republican Tea Party in mind, never dreaming that something even worse - The Maga Cult - would come along. ✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌️
But it's not true. In fact IQ has been rising in all studies. People are getting smarter. It has nothing to do with who makes babies and everything to do with who has access to education.
If this theory were true the solution would be to prevent people with low IQ to breed, that's called eugenics and has been tried and falsified many many times.
Educate yourself about genetics.
I can’t even laugh at this movie at all. So well written it’s scary.
When this movie came out, social media wasn't quite a thing yet. Now, it has done nothing but accelerate the timeline.
Right!
Yep, remember in 2020 when people were burning down their own cities? And then they got rid of their police, and now they're upset that crime is out of control so they're sending in the national guard so now major cities, loke NYC, just have armed soldiers walking around now.
Yes but it accelerates every time line. Including the timeline will we recognize that stupidity is a possibility If we continue heading in this direction.
So it may offer its own demise.
@@CalvinHikesInfinite timelines is cool and all, unfortunately we’re only in one and it’s clear to anyone with eyes which one that is
The Republican Party, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh were way ahead of social media.
I vividly remember my evolutionary anthropology professor correcting someone in class saying, "evloution is not survival of the fittest, its survival of the reproductively fit".
I think about that all the time.
And it's neither of those actually. The organism that is most able to adapt is the organism that survives to reproduce.
Not even survival! Evolution prefers the idiot who dies stupidly at 40 but knocked up five women beforehand to the genius who lives to 95 but only has one or two kids.
@@therealthreadkilla Those who reproduce in large numbers adapt too.
survival of the fittest is not about athleticism. it is about "the best fit" for its surroundings

Mike Judge is a frickin genius. Idiocracy wasn't a movie, it was a prophesy. And it's coming true as we type.
So I feel someone has to tell you this because you clearly don't know.
The intelligence of the parents has a miniscule effect on the intelligence of the child. Meaning 2 complete bumblefuck morons could give birth to the next Einstein.
So with that in mind how was this movie a prediction?
He's definitely right about America getting dumber if he was able to make a movie about eugenics and get people to be like "Yeah! I love that!" publicly when in the entire 60 years after we beat the Nazis you'd be shunned for admitting it.
The only thing he got wrong was that it was the "anti-intellectuals" that will bring this about. Turns out it's the intellegestia that's the vanguard, from not being able to define what a "woman" is, to banning clapping during UNIVERSITY graduation coz it gives the graduates anxiety.

The one thing this movie got wrong is that it plays in the future.
And the Eugenics
@@XJapanGonnaGiveItToYa-cd4xj Intelligence is highly heritable based on presently available scientific literature. Eugenics is a practice of excluding certain groups and people who are deemed undesirable to improve the quality of the genetic pool. Only thing the movie even remotely got wrong was using IQ as a measure of intelligence- it is a flawed and limited measure but presently the best one we have. It does not promote eugenics. It points out that multi-generational repopulation by primarily unintelligent people will lead to a decrease in intelligence across the species. Of course intelligence is something still being studied and it is not entirely heritable so the movie exaggerates this for comedic effect.
Another thing it got wrong is thar people in that future VALUED smart people.
