To be honest I barely remember this fight, so nice to see it gone over. Chavez Jrs fight with Sergio Martinez from this era is the one I vividly recall just because ancient Sergio's leg started disintegrating in the 12th having won every single round and that nearly let Chavez in to score a stoppage. He wasn't *that* bad, but his only real win is over Andy Lee.

Jr. Didn't have the hunger and discipline Sr had in his early years as a boxer, instead he inherited the liking for partying and consuming alcohol and other stuff as his father did in the later years. I wonder how greater could Sr. got if he hadn't start with those vices? Canelo in the other hand has a a ferrous discipline, and listens to Eddie Reynoso, Canelo doesn't only trains hard, trains smart and analize very well the strategy to follow with each opponent. Is sad Jr. didn't make it, the world was expecting the legend to continue thru him, but box doesn't work like that.

However; Canelo just used him as a mobile punching bag for 12 rounds and i dont think i have seen such a one sided beating apart from when Jnrs father battered Edwin Rosario for his WBA lightweight crown many years before. I think Canelo has earned his right to be in mexicos P4P ratings in the future.

I think he’s just saying he was a good all rounder but didn’t have anything that stood out, you can say that for loads of boxers, some had specialties like Rocky Marciano or Larry Holmes but some were just all around great but wasn’t a master of a particular skill like Evander Holyfield or Lennox Lewis

He didn't say such thing and he didn't take it easy. Biggest show of respect is to keep fighting. Thing is it's hard to knock out a fighter who's not fighting back but just trying to not get knocked out. Kinda what happened recently when Canelo fought Charlo. Canelo beat Chavez Jr like a pinata, he definitely didn't took it easy on him
