Honestly, I feel like 90+% of the time, I catch nothing. I try all the tips, all the tricks people recommend. I throw my confidence lures and lures I'm new too, and still get nothing. If I get even a little dink, I call it a successful day.
That’s what makes it worth it. My entire life I fished and caught absolutely nothing until recently when I started to get serious and learned as much as I could about bass fishing. The feeling of getting my first bass I’ll never forget!
One critical thing I learned is ALL lakes and ponds have different fish patterns! I changed my lake where I was maybe catching 1-3 bass a day, to a new lake where I’m catching more than 5. Same lures and presentations. Always hop around lakes to find what areas are getting bites
I was the same for about the first year I bass fished seriously. I'd get sooooo damned frustrated! Then it just seemed like one day things clicked and I started figuring out patterns, finding fish faster and having a whole lot better luck. Stick with it, it'll be worth it...and you'll be so glad you did! ✊
I usually do good at a lake my family had a place at. But when it comes to pond hopping. There's really one one I do well at. The others are a struggle bus. They also have the bigger bass and are fairly pressured.
Kudos for posting even the days all the pieces don't get put together. 💪 I know alot of beginner anglers that get spun out bc they only see videos of the glory days on YT and have unrealistic expectations
These are the type of videos I like to watch honestly. I learned from there mistakes and I’ll try not to do the same thing when I’m on the lake. Glad you made this video thanks bud.
I love your channel super informative and helpful….but I think this is my fav content u put out. It’s how most of us fish I think. Body of water we may not be super familiar w & head out to try and find fish. Keep um comin sir and thanks for all the content
Testable perspectives! - In hindsight saying “I shoulda done X instead… of Y.” …. Maybe sticking with one approach would have been more productive.. (either the “fish shallow pattern … OR the fish offshore brush piles pattern), as you said after the day was over. However, you followed “sage advice” of trying to find the pattern the fish were on. Hence you caught one shallow; (Which didn’t keep paying off) - then tried brush pile - and bam, caught a fish. So, you now have “two potential patterns.” You spent the rest of the day searching the lake using both patterns (to see which would work). The “answer” of which the best approach would be (A) catch a fish and stubbornly bet on that one pattern on whole lake rest of the day, or (B) switch things up to see if different pattern is better. You did the latter. - I don’t know, but I think if you took 10 “new bodies of water” and prospectively tried strategy A) vs. B), … which would be better? -- Prospectively, I think what you did would have better yield. (On any given day, either could be equally bad!)…. I agree some earlier research could help. Given all the comments, it seems like this would be worth knowing the answer to!
Yeah, always post even the bad days! I have more of these than whacking them. Sometimes I learn from it. Sometimes not. Good to go through tips from someone else.
I love the videos, thanks for always teaching, even when you don't want to talk about a failure. You're right, when you fail is the best time to learn & get better. Also, could you show us what you look for on maps at home or research so we can learn what you are searching for? Thanks for the great videos.
A lot of times when I am getting fish that are swiping at my swim jig I can pick up just the craw that I am using as my trailer for my swim jig and put it on a regular Texas rig and swim it, and a lot of times get the fish to commit better because of the lower profile.
Just today I was fishing a square bill crank under some docs, didn't really get any bites so I decided that toss it in a rod holder and just troll it wherever I was going next. I got to hit within 30 seconds and landed the fish. And my trolling speed is about half of what I retrieve... Lesson for the day
I split my time up and spread myself way too thin on tournament day all the time. Usually with poor results. I always try to be prepared and have 16-18 rods tied up with everything I might need to throw. But I get out there and having all those rod options ready to go makes it too easy to switch techniques if I’m not getting bites. When I win it’s almost always on one bait all day, maybe 2-3 baits.
I went to Clear Fork last year and couldn’t find a bass. Lost a muskie and had another following though. I went to Leesville over the weekend and the bass fishing was excellent.
It’s definitely a must see!! No big company PR polish, just Seth proud of what Omnia is building. I see authenticity. I’ve received Tackle Warehouse boxes printed with 12 other sport activities their big corporation covers.
I used to love that lake until they killed all the grass a few years ago. But I’ve recently heard the grass is back. Any truth to that Tyler? I’d love to fish it again
Most of my days are like this. I do ok, but in WV, the fishing is tough. I went to a lake a couple days ago and caught five while several others fishing the lake caught nothing.
I get skunked every other trip. Just started Bass fishing in February and have caught less than 10 bass total in about 25 trips. I know there is a learning curve but I'm starting to think my lakes are broken. Fishing Jordan Lake and Shearan Harris in NC.
Fear not, the lakes aren't broken! 😂 Just takes some time to figure out each body of water, and to understand that the patterns change significantly through the seasons.
Could you please also let us know what knots you use? My line always breaks when I catch a fish larger than 2 lbs and I have 15lb braided line and I've been using a snell knot directly on the hook, no leader. I don't have a fishing buddy to help so I've been watching your videos trying to see what I'm doing wrong. I'm getting the bites, but my line just breaks and it makes no sense 😢
Yeah, too much stuff and not focusing. Go back to square one: leave the boat and home, take a baitcaster and 1 spinning combo, what you can carry, and go bank fishing. Learn to be more efficient with less technology and less equipment. Talk to yourself like you are teaching a new angler standing next to you so facts pour out of you. You gots contaminated with tourney time fishing habits; this became work under pressure and NOT fun.
If blasting Taylor Swift was on the line, this would be a successful lake break video. 😂 For real tho, this type of video is good. Everyone else posts nothing but the good, and never the bad or ugly. It’s good to reflect on failures, and turn them into successes next time.

It’s probably the water your fishing. Try a new place

What color soft plastic do you usually use in muddy water?

I've been landing some quality bass on a plastic t rigged craw.
Fishing way too fast is one of my biggest hurdles and I think a lot of folks struggle with this

Its fun to watch catches, but for someone like me who is trying to learn this is even better. Thanks for posting.

Can you tell me the name of the head lamp you recently recommended ?
How do I know what bait casting reel to put on my different rods
Seth Feider at Omnia in a suit drinking The Dew! Made my day LOL

Yoooooo, BFHQ, when my hour comes! I got a BIG S/O for ya! Appreciate your contributions to the craft!...✊🏾

Ha! I made them all!
Lost me at wacky rig.
First! Love the content!
do not include jacob or dc in it,they chase fish with a screen
Take the screen away and they still kick everyone’s butt

What lake?
What was your punishment for failing? Better find something because technically you failed!!
Why 12 pounds on 5 bass. 10 makes more sense bro
