    I spent 12 years with my 2002 Sprint RS 955i, and I still dream about that beautiful engine. I do recommend you let it warm to operating temperature before thrashing it. Riders with inline fours or v-twins have no idea the 3-cyl has the torque of twin with the smoothness of the inline 4. I wish more makers would switch to this engine. My friend has the FZ-09 Yamaha and it has a similar sound to the 955i. If Triumph had a brain (which they don't seem to have), they would re-introduce the engine on a lighter Dayton today. I don't think selling it would be a problem.

    In June I bought a 98 Daytona - it's also a fuel injected 955cc triple but was called T595 for 97 & 98 - Like yours, it has the most incredible, loud, unmistakable triple howl/roar! It's stunning - It's so powerful it slides me back on the seat - Take 1st, 2nd then 3rd to the limit and you're way over the ton, yet there's 3 gears left! Never had a bike I liked as much - go buy one - they're cheap and awesome !!

      Jon Dowd loved my t595, was worried i was going to kill myself with it for the same reason you mentioned above... "oh crap i'm doing 140 in 5th, better slow down"

    IMO - that is the best street motorcycle ever made. thank you for the video. rode daily triumph factory test rides at Daytona BW several years back then on that demo bike. One morning it was just me and their factory racer - so I pinned myself to flank his rear wheel and did a crazy lap -- even with some gravel on a turn it was stable. I love that bike. never ridden another bike with such a large sweet spot cornering. it's perfect -- and that carbon can rasp sounds amazing.

    nice bike man, I had an '04 yellow and sold it to help launch my business ,I've been riding bikes since i was a teen, I have ridden Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, sadly no Yamahas and i tell you no other bike can compare to the "soul" of that Daytona 955i with a carbon fiber high mount exhaust: as a matter of fact i'm now looking for an "06 with the black frame, it's the perfect gentlemen's sport bike and rare,it's not the fastest but fast enough and something special you want see on every corner!

    Mine is standard. I added a smaller sprocket on the drivetrain but it has standard pipes.The only issue I've had was last year when I had to replace the main electrical harness. Triumph covered this so all I paid was the labour! The battery kept dying and would not hold a charge even when the bike was being used. It was a pain because the dealer thought it was the regulator / rectifier which kept burning out. I have done nothing else and she runs like new again.

  • @cashstore1
    @cashstore1  11 років тому

    Good that you 60,000 miles. Now I can ask you questions. I currently have 8k on mine so I wanted to know if you had any issues with the bike. Have you changed anything to it like putting a power commander in it? All I have done was raise the handle bars. It was a bit low for me. I like it now. I will be putting new tires on this week.

    I am getting 53miles per gallon with the stock set up. I am happy with that. I have not opened up the throttle yet, as I have only taken it up to 128 mph. It did not take long to get to that speed and had plenty of power to spare. I am taking the bike to California on the 5th of April with about 55 others to travel through the mountains north of LA. It's the second annual motorcycle vlogger ride. It was in San Diego last year. We had 24 people last year, so it has doubled

    Triumph has been seeing gains in their sales since it's resurrection in 1990. They are now the second most sold bike in Britain, and they are the only motorcycle company in the U.S. other than BMW that gained market share in the past 6 years. I have been seeing a lot of new Triumphs of late on the road. When this model came out in 98, Triumph was still a new player in sport bikes. Hence, the Japanese bikes were more popular. They are comparable to any well known brand.

    I am still hedging on going again this year. There is no way I would drive that bike that far and back. The handlebars would need to be raised, which I do plan on doing but not yet. I did order a trailer hitch and the wiring harness for the Versa yesterday. If I go, I will haul it with that. I have a smallish trailer that works perfect for bikes.

    Mine is an 06. 4k is an excellent price. Really low, actually, unless it had a bunch of miles on it. I found others pretty cheap. There is a price range. If you get one, make sure it's at least a 2002 or higher. They boosted the HP from 130 to 149 and did some faring work. The older ones are still nice though. They quit making them after the 06 model. The 1050 engines they use now on the speed triples, don't have as much HP. The new Daytona's are 675cc, but are really fast

      I laid the bike down and destroyed the carbon exhaust. I have a 2 brothers exhaust now. Sounds awesome. The bike did not have much damage as it was at low speed so everything is good. Still have the bike only 14k miles on it.

    I did a video in the same place with my Ducati. I set the camera up on a tripod using my Canon T1i rebel camera on video mode. As I took the pass I checked in my mirror as a car was going towards the camera gear. As I took the turn, I noticed he pulled in next to the camera. I quickly turned around, then shot back just in time as he was getting ready to lift my gear. He said "is that your gear?". I said "yes". Then he left.
