reflex deflex will give you the other couple pounds for your 50. I've heat treated a couple times and it worked for me. Nice bow by the way. Your the first person that i've seen use their draw knife as a scrapper besides me, I found it dulls it very little. Except i turn mine backwards when i use it that way
Nice video! I like bows in the 50 lb range too. Preferably over 50 like you say so I can hunt mountain goats but I think you can hunt black bear, deer, sheep and caribou with 40 lb. What part of Alaska do you live in?
@@Benjamin.stevens Oh nice! I love that area. I just spent a couple nights at the Kelly lake cabin but I didn't make a video because it was so windy I mostly stayed inside. I'm back in Kodiak now.
It was a Lynx and I did eat it. They taste great. There’s a whole video about it on my channel. Also, I’m making a hat to keep me warm, so technically more of a cat gets utilized than a deer or moose.
Excellent! I love the arrow rest idea. Skal
What a nice tribute, Ben. Love this…
That came out great!
Very cool video.
Thanks for sharing.
Great build and thanks for sharing!😁
Awesome back story. Hopefully you can capture footage of you harvesting a bear with it. 👍
This is what I like to see man vs wild !
Excelente!

Thanks for the tips. I turn mine around as well.
Cool story

I live in Kasilof. I’ll have to try again I have a few more staves ready to work.

Can’t you add some stiffer backing to increase draw weight?
Yes but then it’s not a “self bow”. I’d rather just make another one. Like I said this is my primary source of entertainment.
I've got nothing against living off the land, but why kill a bobcat ? (1 min 10 sec). You can't eat it.
