Making a Longbow - Woodworking in Silence

- Building an ash longbow using hand tools. The bow ended up drawing 50-55lb at 33" (full draw). The stave had a bit of character what lead to slightly uneven draw profile. The belly is slightly rounded, on the arrow pass I applied a piece of cow horn. It's an amazing and smooth shooter!

I love your videos they inspired be to start my own channel! Also can you pin this comment?
Good luck 🙏💪
thanks so much! I will share your channel with others.@@DreamcraftBows
The fact that the tiller looks like a hinge naturally scares the crap outta me lol
That is the waviest longbow I have ever seen- but if it shoots straight, it's a thing of beauty. Nice build!
something uniquely satisfying about turning a splintered wobbly piece of quarter round into a beautiful target weapon.
You made a bow out of fire wood!!😲
Looks good no steam bending this time..I always have trouble bending my Bows with steam
I am a subscriber, and really like this video. It shows how many Bowyers can make an imperfect stave, into a good shooting bow. Never waste nature's gifts , if you possess the means and knowledge to make it so
Sick video, just found your channel. I have been trying to make my own bow for quite some time now, but I always run into the same issue of using the wrong wood. What wood is this, and where did you get it? I live in Australia, Sydney region, and I’d rather get my wood straight from the tree, and preferably native, just because it would feel more natural, but I’m open to anything at this point. If you have any tips I’d love to know, cheers.
Excelente muy bueno de Argentina
Hola como estas muy bueno quedo 🏹👍
I'm wondering if you could make a recurve bow in a X, sort of like what earth uses
What is the stuff you apply to the completed bow? Is it a finish, or diluted glue, or?
Looks like some lacquer, maybe polyurethane. Glue is more dull, natural finishes (wax/oil) dont coat, but rather amplify the texture of the wood.
próbowałeś kiedyś robić łuki z cyprysu?
👌
Was that the final tiller at 5:50? I always try to look and figure out where to take the wood off, to practice😀
Seems so. And seems to be not the best example. Of course the deflex section will always look like a hinge, but if you focus on the other parts of this limb, you can see if they are bending. And to be honest: I cant see any bit of bending in the drawing process. Maybe someone else can.
So you will never make a pine sapling bow that i requested as challenge idea good to know i remember asking 6 months ago and u told me next month u would make a video on it and 6 months later still nothing...
