24 year old man who just started having epileptic seizures within the past 6 months. Personally believe it has to do with getting my head split open 18 months ago. Have had an eeg, mri and now want me to go for another mri. Few different pills none of which I find help, I’m really not the same guy I was before I had my first seizure.
Just want to say thank you for the explanation . To bad the info and help everyone is searching for is so hard to come by. Great man giving this information for free.

Hello I was wondering how you find it having fits imbarrasing or what have you had any in public. Is it Grand mal fits also known as tonic clonic. Its grim no dignity in it at all. I have started wetting my self all dignity gone then.

@@andrewboff5682 I've never heard them described as fits before. I was told I was having tonic clonic seizures, formerly known as grandmaul.
All but 1 of my seizures have been either mid sleep, or within minutes of waking up ( I read it has to do with the change of electrical activity in the brain) the odd seizure I had, I believe it was due to a stressful situation. I usually always urinate and defecate during these seizures. I dont know if its before or after the convulsions.

@@andrewboff5682 I definitely was embarrassed at first.. I remembered someone in elementary having them, and me thinking they were odd... i was a young healthy man before this. Started feeling insecure about myself and felt practically handicap, no offense to anyone... I'm sure someone in a wheelchair desires their legs, I desired to have full control over my brain. Not just go limp sometimes. Sometimes having multiple day recoveries, being totally unconscious..
Somehow... I got in a mood one day, forgetting to take my meds, they were changing me more then the seizures were.. I kept trying to get medical help, to no avail.. I stopped taking my medication. Even knowing death could be a possibility, having these seizures. Knock on wood, I haven't had a seizure since before I made the original comment.
I dont believe in god persay, but I believe in karma, good and bad energy, an I pray I don't have another seizure. They are unbelievable scary.

75 years of great health, then a first seizure (grand mal) while I had a bad case of COVID. Normal MRI, but abnormal (general, whole brain) EEG discharges a few weeks later. Now, 7 months later, I feel great, and I associate the whole set of events with COVID and residual inflammation. Neurologists lean toward ‘you have epilepsy for life’ view. I’m still on lowest dose Keppra just in case, but I’d like to see a path toward health, not be resigned to unfixable problem.
I know you can pinpoint based on this little description, but I’d appreciate any comments you might offer. Thanks for your helpful channel.

Dr. Reeves, I am in a desperate situation with multiple neurological symptoms and no set diagnosis and even developed seizures in the last 7 years. I have been doing this now for 18 years. I beg you to just let me email you to your work.

I can't sleep for them either. For one thing, the bed is so uncomfortable! And for another, I just don't sleep when I'm not at home. I asked my neuro if I could have a sleeping pill first and she said they don't do that anymore as it's considered bad practice or something like that.

Same here, that's because in the hospital they ask you to sleep with lights on, then me as a person with anxiety feel so nervous sleeping watched by people like it's not a comfortable thing so I also can never sleep during EEG..

My husband woke up out of his sleep having a seizure. Never had one before ever doesn't run in his family MRI and ct scan clear. Drs said he hit his head at work was the reason. Sent him home. A month later it happens again. They apologize saying they should have prescribed meds. He hasn't had another since but they don't know why all of a sudden at 35 he developed this. Ive been with him since he was 16. He's never had this he jus woke up one day. No explanation

I have had all my seizures after just waking up, and only once was it in the middle of my sleep ( and I had numerous that night my spouse tells me )

@@tylorchaffey9990 I’m sorry to hear that. My husband hasn’t had any seizures since prescribed his meds. They said he can get off them because his head scans are still clear but he refuses to get off in fear they come back. You may need the try meds. Take care of yourself. Don’t drive or operate heavy machinery to be safe. Take care of yourself 😊

I once had an EEG during a semi-dissociative episode (surroundings and everything somewhat different, it felt different [off]).
Had 6 "spikes" all during the hyperventilation phase.
I get a strange feeling from time to time that my head is being "overloaded". A feeling that there is a subtle but spontaneous increase head pressure with a dull head-achy feeling (not a headache, paracetamol almost dosen't fix it).
*Had a period of trying to fix my sleeping habits; with what looks and sounds like depression. Then It was like something clicked in my head and I was able to sleep; then I started to have dreams (somewhat detailed dreams, about things I thought of during the day, then fro 2 days [I would be exhausted, I dose of, then go into a dream right away]). Then it stopped.
Sleep was getting better by it's own + overall my cognition with school
*I almost have no interest in school as I used to somewhat have in the past; even joyful things I used to get really really excited about in the past would be like "meh" to me right now.
Should I at least think of getting a second 30 minute eeg?
