I am currently in trucking school right now and I could not get the offset reverse down, I watched you play a trucking game and explain it and finally passed it consistently you are the best 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Honestly I wish they would would do away with the parallel and require all drivers do the alley dock. Over 6 years on the road I only used the parallel like once or twice. However the offset and the 90/45 were used daily.
Agreed. In my state, you do straight line back, offset back (either side) and then one of parallel (either side) or alley dock. Some schools scam it and schedule their students based on which day tests to their strength between parallel or alley dock.
a super simple maneuver, but the way you explain things make so much sense that my understanding is deepened even beyond the skill in the video, but almost to a point where I understand the hows and whys. Great work.
I’m currently in school. Day cab small trailer. But it is affordable. I couldn’t afford the more expensive schools. Gonna make the most of it, I figured most places probably have a training period. Fingers crossed. lol. Anyways! These videos are really helping me understand angles and when to turn. I was so confused at school😂. I was able to complete my offset backing but not without verbal instructions 😂😂😂. I should probably purchase this game
The offset back is very useful in a situation where you do not have enough room to setup for the spot you need to be in. I have been to customers that have docks almost right against the wall in a corner and not enough room ahead to line up for a straight back. And there are quite a few truck stop parking spots like that as well.
so idk about every state, but in arkansas where i tested you had to “brake the plane” of the parking spot woth the DOT bumper before you could do a pull forward, otherwise you had to reset completely.
I went to a four week school that had us driving day cabs with shorter trailers (38'). And then we tested in full 18 wheelers with 53' trailers. Most failed. Didn't help we wasted first week in the classroom on studying for the permit and the second week in the classroom for inspection.
Funny you say that .. the school I went to had Flatbeds and they weren’t 53’ either… to be honest a lot of backing I learned from your app .. I kept “ playing “ the app and I realized how the trailer would move when I backed up 😂
Thank you so much, I hope to be driving for Southeastern Freight Lines soon and this gives me the technical know-how to ace my CDL test in the future. Much support!
For the test in the UK, this is the only reversing maneuver they do on the test. Most UK drivers first get behind the with their fresh license having no idea how to reverse in the real world, myself included. That's how I found your videos. I almost had a panic attack when I first had to get onto a bag 😅
@@MyTruckingSkills it's the Driver CPC part 3a test. You can search C+E reversing test to find it, it's the exact same as your setup in this video, going off to the blindside.
I'm literally trying to drive an F450 with a skid loader and have no desire to ever drive a semi. Not sure why I need to learn all this to drive an automatic 450 but that's what is required
All the way to the right. Move slowly until you are at the very end of your landing gear in your mirror. Stop. Turn your wheel all the way to the left. Move slowly until you are the the very end of your landing gear in your mirror. Stop. Straighten your tractor so that it is directly in front of your trailer. Back into your space.
You get 2 free pull fwd. Super easy. Kick trailer in direction you want. Then straighten tractor and trailer. Keep backing straight to get close to cones.you would be diagonal. Pull forward and S straighten as needed. You showed exactly that. Then straight backing into hole. Some students find it a lot easier this way. Taking advantage of free pull fwds.
I am at school trucking right now. That is how I learned first for offset but they told me that is wrong maneuver for offset. I can't just snake drive a little bit and line up my truck to the next lane. The DMV won't passed me in that way. I am a little confused but i news to follow the different way to maneuver offset left or right.
I'm in the truck driving school now and they have a sleeper truck and 53 ft trailer I always have problems with last part but I usually correct it but by then I'm always way off.
At my school we were only allowed to do a pull-up after the trailer bumper passed the mouth of the opening (the cone) otherwise we had to do a complete reset and start over…minus 1 pull-up this time.
You could have gotten your training for free if you signed on with one of the mega carriers. I did that 30 years ago and got paid while I was training.
I am currently in trucking school now and i just started the straight backing, i need more clarification and techniques to get it right. Any help from you
Is there an app like this for bus driving or straight trucks? All I can find for bus or straight is complicated convoluted bs, and keeps trying to get me to buy crap.
You can search it on the app store on your phone, the game is called my trucking skills. You can also go to mytruckinggames.com if you want the PC version
So, I went to a private CDL school and ended up not passing after 3 DMV tests (California). Since finding this app I've learned more from your instructional videos and playing the game than that school taught me. I still really want to do this as a career. I contacted swift to see if they could get me in there but they said they won't work with me since I failed driving school. That was the first company I've contacted but I'm worried I'll run into this problem again. Chances are ill know the answer to this question before anybody replies but maybe this comment will help somebody in the same situation. Thanks for this game and all your help 🙏
It does, it's all about teaching your brain what way the to turn the steering. I've have 100s of people say it helped them, but it's going to be stupid difficult at first. The controls take time to get used to
less text. show clear academic parking actions. when changing lines during parallel parking, it was so clear that it was clear at once without any experiments, this is very necessary for those receiving cdl
See my school tells me to make a full turn until you do until you are blinded then another full turn to the opposite direction into the into your straight I like your way better
Lmao "get what you pay for". 6 grand and im in a 28 ft truck with a fucked clutch in an ungraded dirt pit. Using your videos to get the info that i paid for.
I am currently in trucking school right now and I could not get the offset reverse down, I watched you play a trucking game and explain it and finally passed it consistently you are the best 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I'm in school right now and haven't mastered this yet and it's frustrating me terribly.

Agree and alley dock is way easier

I don’t know how they thought that was a good idea. That’s crazy. They didn’t have any 53’s for yall to train in?
@@ChicaSonidera
Most failed because of manual shifting. I was actually the only one out of 10 to pass the CDL on the first attempt.
Thank you Dave

Yup, when does not look right I just turn it into a straight back no problem in Missouri👍

Depending on situation floating works. If you know how to 2x clutch you can drive any manual.
at road master we practice everything on a 53 foot trailer

Challenge the powers that be. This is completely pointless and would never be done in the real world.
Good explanation though.
