    I do not consider myself especially qualified to give advice, but when asked by an inexperienced driver, my first advice is, "Calm the f*ck down. Do not worry about those supertruckers watching you back in. Take your time and get out and look as many times as you need to."

    Basics
    5:08 the common tip "turn the steering wheel to the opposite direction" is not enough
    6:32 the truck controls the trailer, not the steer tires. the tires control the truck
    Keeping it straight
    8:02 turn towards the problem
    10:58 like lifting a wheelbarrow (the truck controls the front of the trailer)
    Keeping it angled
    12:07 keeping the angle while reversing (chasing)
    Getting out of being at 90
    7:42 quickest way to straighten up from 90
    14:00 what to do when you are at 90
    Demonstration on a truck stop back
    15:21 slowly, explaining every single step
    22:01 quickly
    22:56 fixing not being centered

      I’m the same. Four months in trucking still suck at backing even though I am 10 times better than when I started. My CDL school taught the bare minimum in backing, just enough ‘to pass the CDL test. It really sucked and didn’t really help me at all.

    I think American Truck Simulator (or European) and My Trucking Skills nicely complement one another. You get a bird’s-eye view with my trucking skills that gives you a different perspective from ATS.
    Also, with My Trucking Skills, you can immediately start working on backing, but with ATS, you have to do a lot of extra stuff to get to a dock and practice backing.
    I love them both.

    • @Darkstreets56
      @Darkstreets56 Місяць тому

      not mirrored the dude is just miss speaking when u have one trailer just turn the opposite of the way you want to go and that's the way your trailer will go its easier to learn that way then his way. Meaning if you turn wheel right it'll go left and opposite of that. and when you have multiple trailers you go by odds and evens rule, odd number off trailers you go opposite, even number you go same direction which means if u turn wheel right your trailers going right.

    Thanks Brother. The best tip besides watch your shoulder and the world moves around you. Setup so your truck is parallel and you follow your trailer in. If you can't make it pull up far enough so you can. We get paid to go forward; if it sounds expensive before you bump dock. You just paid to go backwards.,

    Your videos have helped me tremendously however I still haven't seen a video yet that actually shows a step by step with reference points on what to look for once your setup and starting to actually back into the space....i have a hard time visualizing getting the back of my trailer to the spot. Im always to close or far from driver side...then I can't get into the spot cuz im angled incorrectly. So reference points like once rear tires get pass bumper of truck beside you then cut into spot...etc

    • @Darkstreets56
      @Darkstreets56 Місяць тому

      Incase you didn't find your answer here you go. So starters if its a tight spot and you have to cross the T into the spot you being the top of the T, create space in between you and the "l" part, further the better. Then get past your turning axis which for most trailers is a little past the middle of trailer, the turn the wheel opposite the way you want trailer to go, then ease reverse till you feel as if you got the rectangle in the hole then chase down your trailer and adjust as needed then bam. Ram the loading dock while your at it to wake up the sleeping employee's.

    I am certainly NOT a trucker. Would it be possible to modify your game to model a TRAVEL TRAILER?? Pretty Please?
    I’ve been using your game to learn how to back and I’m sure when I do “for real” will be much helped by your content (games & videos). So thank you.
    I had a 27 ft. travel trailer (so wheels in middle of ~24 foot trailer + tongue). Would like to practice on your game to get a feel for trailer swing, etc. (e.g. how pull out of gas station knowing which way to turn if mess up and need to get out of a jam and still not take out the pumps!). Using the short trailers vs. long 53” on your game now is certainly different and harder to back (thought would be easier - was I wrong). Suggestion? Could you do this? Would be able to market to RV industry so could be a boon to you I think . . .

    Great video and I've downloaded the software you created about a year ago, which is a very helpful tool, but I do have a question. I have just over 9 years and 500,000 miles experience drive a Kenworth T270 box truck and my employer is offering to send me to a local CDL school in a month or two. A box truck is a world of difference than a full semi truck, so do you believe getting a steering wheel for the software would better help?

    • @MyTruckingSkills
      @MyTruckingSkills  Рік тому +5

      Yes it does make a difference, it may not be the real thing, but its better than using your finger to control the steering. If you are going to get a steering wheel, get the PXN 900 amzn.to/3W8T042, works like a charm. The Logitech g29 is just over kill, but still works. Having driven a box truck helps, its better then just having driven a car, you are more aware of a surroundings.

      You are not able to choose the axle positions in the game. But there are levels in the CDL LEVELS where you drive a 48 spread, they are usually towards the end of the category. The game wasn't written where you could choose what sizes you want. Can't change the code.
