    Thank you. I plan on this being my next compressor and it is handy to know what issues I may have down the track and how to fix it.

    Might have to mount anchor nuts on the back side of the compressor mount, seems essential in some cases but eliminates a lot of headaches, especially with the aircraft I work on... Nice review to throw in on the middle of your adventures.

    If you have the older compressor and you use it for airing up tires you might hook up the air line and then turn on the compressor. This will keep the force against the connecting rod bolt to a minimum. Another idea is to get a lower pressure cut off switch if you use it for your lockers. Like a 90/115 instead of the ARB 135/150.. This will also reduce the force on the connecting rod.

    The thing I really like about this video is that you have mounted the unit where on the trail service is very difficult, but these things don't need service much and if you are wheeling correctly, with others you can get by. The most important thing I took from this video was that the unit when it fails in the mode it did is still functional.

    My ARB twin compressor failed 4 times and keep sending it back for repair and after the 4th time I requested my money back. It is nothing but Chinese junk parts which ARB charging us for more than $500 depending on setup. Ever since I have built my own 20 lbf C02 tank and never looked back.

      bobscratchit I sourced my own parts put it all together myself, and lol, I wasn’t going to pay Powertank close to $600 for a C02 tank and I am sure it is an awesome unit, but this is good place to start with a decent price. www.polyperformance.com/poly-performance-co2-kit-ppi-2302?PPI-2302&gclid=CjwKCAjwwYP2BRBGEiwAkoBpAtMasa0E0rtDEygWvG08W_kI2SvVHuTMF4kQCZeHnbQepViJxaRBqRoCty4QAvD_BwE also ebay as well.

    I use a Thomas and a 4 gallon air tank. If you ever find a Hummer H2 in the junk yard check the back they have an impressive on board air system. The first year came with a big single Thomas after that two smaller compressors. Just some useless info.

  • @paulholubecki6386

    You were lucky.
    The bolt you said was rusty on yours busted when pulling apart mine.
    The rust comes from moisture build up from the tank.
    Suggest emptying the air from the tank every now and then with a blow down attachment to drain water.
    Also put never seize on the bolts.

    I had to do this exact same thing to a arb we have on our work truck. One motor seized, but ARB sent us out a new motor under warranty. Very easy fix. Back up to 100% capacity. Love it. Well done Kevin.

    I bought one of the first lots of these compressors many years ago. I had the same thing go wrong. I was a long way out of warranty so I took it into the local ARB shop to buy the repair parts and they happily repaired it for free.
    Turns out ARB have since upgraded the con rod bolt to be stronger because those first ones were failing.

    I'm impressed you got 6 years out of it. I've never had the twin but I went through 3 of the singles before I gave up on them. One lasted less than a year and was replaced under warranty, the next two lasted around 15 months each. I never disassembled any of them so not sure what the problem was but mine wouldn't run at all so don't think it was the same issue as you had.

      I have a dual compressor system and I have one of the motors not working at just 16 months of light usage. I will be purchasing an air tank to add to the compressor system after I see what is wrong with mine. I am going out on a limb and thinking I will have the same issue. I have tested the motors individually and they both turn on but only 1 is building pressure. My multimeter shows 18 amps and 3 amps of draw from the motors.

    Just had the same problem with my ARB compressor. ARB told me that the original compressor had a 4mm bolt that would break. They have since upgraded that to a 5mm bolt that doesn't break, but mine broke. Apparently, for no reason what so ever, they have since decided to switch to a 6mm bolt. No offer of warranty replacement or assistance from ARB in Australia.

    • @neutronstorm
      @neutronstorm Рік тому

      @@Heraiz I think it's a fairly common nut and can be purchased from a nuts and bolts shop but it's not common enough to get from the local hardware. The nut is the part I am missing as well but I think I found them online when I went looking for them.

    • @Heraiz
      @Heraiz Рік тому +2

      @@neutronstorm Thanks for your input, I will search for the elusive nut! :)....it doesn't make sense why ARB doesnt just sell the whole kit with ALL the upgrded parts together so we can have an easir time fixing them the right way...Did you end up drilling out the crank assembly to accommodate the bigger M6 screw?
      Since I'm not happy with ARB, I will let the cat out....These pumps ( search CKMTA12 ) are made by a company in China for ARB, under the brand name HF. they recently started selling the pump on ali express, around ~280 usd for the whole twin pump setup before shipping(with wiring)....but they are not yet offering the rebuild kits on thier own...There is also seem to be a new Twin pump that HF is offering, comes in silver jackets instead of ARB Blue, they are calling it High Profrmance and cost around ~550usd, double the blue cost.
